Some low rated riders will have difficulty calling for a service, that's how the rider apps works.

Not familiar with it but how the app rates a rider low/high?

Rider is rated by drivers. It's done in Uber and I think maybe now it can be done in Grab.

However, I doubt these ratings affect riders difficulty in getting a ride.

After all, they are still paying money. Why would you deny them just bcuz of low rating ? Unless they are not paying or refuse to pay up, then that's a different thing.

Actually, it's 7days a week leave if you don't drive. LOL.

No seriously, its how much you drive that deduce how much you earn. As what stated by Yew Heng is mostly correct, the earnings roughly there. For lazy drivers earn less. For hard working part timers earn more. For full timers, decent money to buy milk powder for families. For retirees..... More holidays. It's difficult to state what nett you getting at the end of day as different driver drive differently.

maybe i should say average nett earnings.

Precisely, dont know what is the purpose of rating for rider?! Even the rating for rider is super low, uber/grab also would not blacklist them or suspense their account lo. Unlike driver if got low rating, they might be taken off from the road?!

actually im just curious, those who drive uber or grab. after all the deductions. how much can you take home nett amount? considering,

rental, petrol, erp and season parking and ad hoc parking probably for lunch or dinner. what is the nett earnings that roughly you all can take home?

is it worth? no leave, no bonus benefits. 12 hours solid on the road daily 7 days a week.

For me is around 4k plus after deducting Petrol, rental and etc lor.

I think there is algorithm that if either driver or rider rate low, when same rider make a booking, the said driver even if is just 1 min away will not receive the ping. So the lower the rating means slightly harder to get a booking from rider or driver. Edited by Yewheng

Really got such thing for low rating rider ah? If it is really true, then at least there is some benefit for rider to be rated.

My rating is now is 4.81 and in just 5 months of driving I had picked up 2 same rider twice already. So I am guessing this is how it work. As bo ke leng so coincidence that I am the nearest driver.

That's why guessing only. I may not be right.

I know for Grab the higher rated members get priority booking. Not sure how it works but I think should be similar ba.

maybe i should say average nett earnings.

To be save, I'll put it between $15 to $20 nett average. High earners nett about up to $25 an hour driving peak hrs and going for surge timings, however in exchange, family and friends time being sacrificed.

When I mention nett, it means after fuel, maintenance and spare parts like tyres and wipers, etc and including toll, as well as after taxation.

If you only able to clock low side of the earnings, most likely it's because you take longer to arrive pick up and drop off as well as always stuck in Traffic. Many factors.

I know for Grab the higher rated members get priority booking. Not sure how it works but I think should be similar ba.

For priority bookings for Grab, there is a program to join. It's not a fair arrangement, and brings back bitter days for some hard working Taxis drivers who play by the books.

After a trip, driver has to rate the rider. The next driver would be able to see average ratings of riders when call comes in just as riders able to see drivers. For me personally, lowly rated riders means trouble, either by pick up area, the way the rider behave, or most importantly cancelation rate. So best to avoid going long distance to pick up such riders whom may end up giving you problems. That's just me.

As for Grab, the drivers are always the suckers being rated.

What's more important is goodwill paid.

Not sure if any goodwill .......... could it be a bailout?

CDG/Uber and SMRT/Grab .... so left with 2 main players, less competition and rates would be going up .... consumers to lose out.

CDG taxi will have more lobangs with Uber app but Uber still can't pick up ..... Uber drivers no advantage compared to CDG taxi.

When I pick up riders, the last thing on my mine is his/her ratings.

The first thing is how far away, as sometimes Uber can make you go 10km just for pick up.

I usually give riders 5 star, unless they disturb me in some ways.

i still dont get the part of rating riders. So what if the riders get a bad rating? After all riders are still pay masters. Even if the rider rating is low does that mean that driver dont want to pick up? if 8 out of 10 riders are low ratings and driver choose not to pick up than driver earn what? doesnt look logical to rate riders though imho.

pay master does mean can bully or mistreat drivers. if rider rating low then many drivers can reject him and he will have to wait long long before can get a ride. this will ensure he improves his behaviour and increase his ratings.

if you are a reasonable and courteous rider, you wont be afraid to be rated.

Now Grab can rate riders too.

For me I always give five stars regardless of what, unless it was a truly terrible experience (which basically never happens). Most drivers are relatively decent.

If a rider gets consistently low ratings from drivers, Uber has the right to investigate and even suspend the rider from using the service if necessary.

Just because you pay for the service doesn't give you the right to be nasty. Services like Uber work on a trust system, and if you abuse that trust then something has to be taken away from you.

I've picked numerous 4.5 and below riders. Some don't deserve it. I gave them 5 stars. However there are some who are snobbish beyond belief thinking PH are their personal chauffeur. With the rating system, drivers can be prepared more or less. Again, if distance are way too far for lowly rated riders, I don't bother and just cancel because likelihood of them blaming the drivers for slow pickup is high with some coming into the car as if you owe them money.
