Fatal Accident at Tampines

How can it be hit and run from a lorry? I don't see any damage at all to the rear of the Cerato. All I see is frontal impact damage. Pictures do not lie.

Sad one life lost suddenly. Pity the family.

Leave it to our good SPF/TP to investigate the whole accident.

As said earlier, possibly a video will emerge soon. Hopefully, that junction has an LTA camera too (since it was mentioned that the junction is quite notorious for accidents), should have red light camera there too.

Even if a lorry was involved in hit and run, chances are both vehicles are in a rush/above speed limit.

Yes, Agree - do not speed recklessly.

Be safe everyone.

The ST reported this morning dint indicate the involvement of any lorries. It could be the figments of the idiotic "witness" imagination.

And the Van driver is the main witness. He witnessed a car swerving and losing control and hitting the man.

I always look for the nearest tree (if available) to stand behind if I'm waiting near a pedestrian crossing.

Really ah? You seem like those who plan for the worse case scenarios...

They shift the car and body to the nearby carpark?

I went to the link above and see, the impact was so strong that the whole traffic light was dismounted and left a big hole.

Picture copied from hwz.

Roughly can gauge the kia was speeding fast enugh to uproot the whole traffic light. The distance the uncle flew also indicates the impact speed was high.

This is terrible! RIP uncle.

No. That's the accident site....taken from another angle.

Hi,

I read from hardwarezone forum that the witness who is also a forum member indicated that:

I witness it, i was there and is not true the car hit the old man...actually is the lorry drive fast and furious. He hit n run and the car spin n lifted up and the lorry dont even pause and then drive away..so it look like the car fault.

Read here for more details.

Looks like a pretty fast speed to be going to uproot the whole light and then end up where the Kia was in the picture. How fast does one need to be going to uproot a typical SG traffic light-pole in a 1.2-1.3 ton car?

Cerato has driver airbag? news says driver sustained serious head injuries. Don't see windshield cracked. If he had seatbelt on, maybe head lunga steering wheel hard?

Yup. That Cerato model should comes with a single driver airbag.

Most likely side window - it wouldn't have curtain airbag

If you see a tree and lamp post nearby while waiting, the choice is simple.

Bollard is safer too, but nothing beats a good old tree.

Vehicle vs tree, usually the tree wins.
