One needs a good SE to help secure competitive (i.e. high) trade in price for old car; provide good service/sales follow-up and with good product/industry knowledge. Freebies should be viewed as a bonus, if any. In Toyota BM, freebies come out from the SE's pocket/commission.

So what if the SE gives you freebies to make you happy but don't work hard for you on trade in price or don't give you the level of sales/service that your money deserves?

If you still require a good SE, PM me.

Good point. My current car is coming to 10y so nothing to expect. But asked my SE to check if there's spare tyre last Sun still waiting for his reply. Coe result I also had to check it myself.

Driving in Singapore no need spare tyre la. Somemore, how many of us maintain spare tyre properly?

Spare tyre is an additional and unnecessary weight.

I rather go outside to get tinting done. Got problem? Juz drive to back to the shop to settle it.

Psychological I guess. Never had to change once in last 10y. But just thought of the day which I may need it if I go up country. 18incher no joke

My current & previous car has no spare tyre.

I only got Slime Tyre repair kit with me.

When the tyre is installed, if the wheel is not properly tighten with torque wrench, you will still face problem to loosen it.

Your car has TPMS? Slime will mess up your TPMS sensors no?

Cross finger.  I have never use the slime in my tyre.

I am not sure whether it will mess up internal TPMS sensor.

I regularly use electric pump to pump up car tire rather than going to petrol station.

Talking about tyre remind me of one question I have. For BM Harrier and stock tyre, what is the good tyre pressure we should use? How many psi / kpa ?

You'll find the manufacturer's optimum or recommended tire pressure for your car on a sticker in the door jam. Just look for it.

Turbocharged

guys this is an example of the 1 sec lag from standstill before the car zooms, which is what i have been talking about here and in the lexus thread

this is an IS200t F-Sport which shares the same engine as the Harrier Turbo.

however, this only occurs during WOT from standstill/deadstop. if you drive/pedal/throttle normally, it's not like that.

https://youtu.be/xDfijOk94Qo

The IS200T uses the 8-speed Aisin, right? What about the Harrier? Is it a 6-speed, CVT, or the same 8-speed?

Bro, You may be absolutely right. With 30k diff and it is true AWD does react faster on the first gear and CVT does a good job making it smooth......ultimately it is what our brothers wanted. Note the 2 cars on the 0-100km/h timing are still close.

To me, the difference of 0 -100 km/h timing of 1 sec does not make much difference cos my CO will F me if I drive like crazy, even if the radio volume is louder than 10, she turns it off....haha. Old folks also won't make me drive fast. I only do it once in a while when I pick my basketball friends [:p] ......mine ride is now rated at 9.8sec and I am pretty happy liao.

The other main thing is my CO will never want to go to MI anymore due to the two years of bad experience.

FXT is also recognized as not being particularly economical on the pump, I would imagine the Harrier could be a little better in fuel consumption since the Toyota-Lexus turbo-engine has a partial Atkinson-cycle mode last I checked. Maybe that's the low-down lag that was demonstrated?

Weird! This whole time I remembered the NX as using the 8-speed! I just checked and you're right.

Saw the car over lunch:

First, the exterior:

Sizewise, it's a decent size, but the front has a significant overhang, and height is quite a bit more than your average sedan. It's around the same height as the Forester, so it's higher than the HRV and most MPVs.

The interior is nicely fitter, no squeaky panels, and Toyota has tried hard to make the interior look more plush and premium. The seats feel nice, the dash has many soft touch bits. However there are some hard plastics and there is some flex in the transmission tunnel. Thankfully, the floor is almost flat at the back, and there are nice rear vents.

The legroom is generous both front and back and the bench is wide and will make it easy for older folks to get in and out.

I also like the steering wheel, better than the Lexus IMO, which is a bit small. The A pillar is quite large and the rear view isn't too great.

The boot is quite large and yes, there's a small spare tire, neatly hidden under the floor.

The feature count is high, and most of the safety features are there, including adaptive cruise control. No autopark though and no attention assist.

We also went over to the Lexus showroom and look at it's cousin, the 2.5 NA hybrid. It costs about 65k more, and you get a slightly nicer cabin, better leather, and more soft touch materials and a nice touch was the clock :)

But for 65k more, the interior, the better service and warranty wasn't enough IMO.

Anyway our deal wasn't too great, so if anyone can help secure a better deal, do let me know?

Premium version:

151k

5 year warranty, only One year service free

Front cam, 3m "Classic" solar film, that's it!

Even on a weekday, they were really busy..

Should compare Harrier Turbo Luxury vs NX 200t Classic, usually NX has discount 25k+ and higher trade in. The gap will be narrowed down to 30k+ difference.
