thanks for the report. what do you mean by  "some flex in the transmission tunnel"

and i agree the steering on all the lexus is too big. :(

Saw the car over lunch:

First, the exterior:

Sizewise, it's a decent size, but the front has a significant overhang, and height is quite a bit more than your average sedan. It's around the same height as the Forester, so it's higher than the HRV and most MPVs.

The interior is nicely fitter, no squeaky panels, and Toyota has tried hard to make the interior look more plush and premium. The seats feel nice, the dash has many soft touch bits. However there are some hard plastics and there is some flex in the transmission tunnel. Thankfully, the floor is almost flat at the back, and there are nice rear vents.

The legroom is generous both front and back and the bench is wide and will make it easy for older folks to get in and out.

I also like the steering wheel, better than the Lexus IMO, which is a bit small. The A pillar is quite large and the rear view isn't too great.

The boot is quite large and yes, there's a small spare tire, neatly hidden under the floor.

The feature count is high, and most of the safety features are there, including adaptive cruise control. No autopark though and no attention assist.

We also went over to the Lexus showroom and look at it's cousin, the 2.5 NA hybrid. It costs about 65k more, and you get a slightly nicer cabin, better leather, and more soft touch materials and a nice touch was the clock :)

But for 65k more, the interior, the better service and warranty wasn't enough IMO.

Anyway our deal wasn't too great, so if anyone can help secure a better deal, do let me know?

Premium version:

151k

5 year warranty, only One year service free

Front cam, 3m "Classic" solar film, that's it!

Even on a weekday, they were really busy..

Incidentally I just realized harrier has no spare tyre! These are the details one overlooks

According to my SE, the wheels included will have 18" rims.  As for the spare tyre, which is included, it will be 17" rim.  And will be of different design.

So, you can't use the spare as though it's a normal tyre.

Most people will say you won't need a spare tyre if you drive in Singapore.  It's quite true since it's easy to get a tow truck to tow your vehicle to the workshop if you have a flat tyre.

For me, I occasionally drives up the boleh land.  So a spare tyre is a real life saver.  Had an occasion where my tyres (yes, tyres) were punctured along the NSHW.  Luckily, my spare tyre saves me.  I had the flatten tyre changed to the spare.  And, thus, was able to drive to a repair shop nearby.  On checks by the repair shop, they found that all my tyres (yes, all 4 tyres) were punctured.  Was able to get it fixed and continue with my journey.

So, spare/no spare...it's up to where you drive to.

Cheers

wef today, BM increased selling price of Harrier by $1K and servicing package now only 1 year. This is probably because COE went up by $2.3K yesterday.

We didn't even get to the color part. 150888 to be precise.

And you had to take a 5 year 2.38 >50k loan.

Not impressed. I didn't think the deal was great so I told my friend we will look around..

The reverse cam and GPS are built into the set, so I didn't called them freebies, but I got them too.

The plastics around the gearbox and behind it will flex.

The Lexus cousin is more solid.

Compare that, or if you have a Volvo you will know what solid means. Not a deal breaker, but there are small differences...

lol this is toyota. Don't need to waste time looking for "freebies".

U can talk until the cows come home ... also minimal change one. At most they tell u, this one can do outside for cheaper (like solar film or car cam), i discount few hundred dollars for you.  [laugh]

My BIL's PR and bargaining skills is quite tok gong one, also that's what u get only.

WYSIWYG

Haha, that's very true. I try very hard  negotiating and also try beat around the bush and return to squeeze more form my SE. But at the end nothing change, all free items are standard, no extra. Was told this time for Harrier commission not high due to RIGHT selling price.  Guess with that type of demand, they can sit there and just wait for order to come.

Went down during the first day around 3pm. They only left with red n blue colour. I quickly secure the red, will be getting the car by end of the month.

Hence for the car camera, the free gift only for the front. As i would like to have the front n back, will need to upgrades.

Really cant decide to transfer my old iroad v7 over or get a new one.

Ask them don't install the front cam, give to you as a new set. Then sell it on Carousell.

Take the money and go outside install 2 ch cam.

Continuing with my thoughts

The cabin is quiet and feels luxurious. But definitely a notch down from the Lexus. Is it worth the difference? Well YMMV

Compared to the fxt it has more soft touch feel and the word is cosseting.

But the fxt cabin is more hardy and does feel quite sturdy and built to last.

The plastics there are harder and you feel more comfortable having your kids kick around or dragging muddy bikes and IKEA furniture inside. The Harrier feels so nice you only want to transport your adult colleagues and shopping in it.

Both will lap up the miles but your carbon emissions will be much lower in the Harrier.

Both sit quite high up.

There are no memory seats and no paddle shifts. The car is meant to be driven more sedately and softly.

Seats really feel nice.

Is it worth the extra over the FXT? Well YMMV. If 125k is your limit and you don't mind the higher FC the fxt is great. The Harrier is that bit more.

But it really makes the Lexus look a bit less value for money.

But at that range you will be looking at a car as a marquee or luxury item. The Harrier is the more VFM choice.

But the deal now sucks. Too cocky.
