Anonymous Dislike function - Time for review?

This is how that Simon Coward became a gazillionaire.

He took the concept of talent time which is not new but

let the public vote in on who is their favourite act by

phone poll and paying 30 cents. Some of the mothers

of the band members and singers spent thousands

voting for them.

:D

Or why not put a price tag to dislike ?

Aiya!

Pressed wrongly! Wanted to be the first to give a dislike to your posts but I praised instead!

Maybe I have been "operantly" conditioned to hit praise every single time

The real problem with the dislike is not so much the dislike but the anonymity.

I will give one example.

I had an argument with another member here when I said the moon was made of cheese

and the idiot insisted it wasn't. Of course he won the argument posting hard science that I

couldn't refute. So i did the most dastardly thing I could do and dislike his factual post and

I did it anonymously so he suspects its me but have no proof.

Having anonymous dislikes allows small gas dicks like me to really get under the skin of

the highly intelligent, factual and sensible posters with their brilliant posts.

It is the tool of the coward that does nothing to encourage the spirit of camaraderie and

great posting.

Much as I like to be eloquent and gracious and behave like a gentleman this is all beyond

me so I will just be the clown and spoiler and use the anonymous dislike button.

So the question is do you really want to keep that function that is only useful for people

like me and adds nothing to the success of the forum? Will the removal detract in anyway or

just take away the ability of small gas people like me to annoy other people's enjoyment of the

forum?

:D

Disagree.

Cos I always hear grumbles about anonymous dislikes

But never a peep about anonymous praises

So it's the dislike, not the anonymity.

The day I read about the coward who praised me but never left his name then I will agree that anonymity is the issue.

People generally ok with:

1. Praise non-anonymously

2. Praise anonymously

3. Dislike non-anonymously

And not ok with:

4. Dislike anonymously

I think you would have failed the logic deduction if this is an exam question. Your problem statement already wrong.  [:p]

You are assuming:

People generally ok with:

1. Praise non-anonymously

2. Praise anonymously

And not ok with:

3. Dislike non-anonymously

4. Dislike anonymously

How about converting our points to be digital currency?

Points = dollars to be used in the bidding to Reveal or Keep

the dislike anonymous. For people that don't have enough

points let them top up. This is inline with our national objective

of going digital currency.  [thumbsup]

:D

Hey, that's good idea.

Maybe the mods should consider this.

1 point covert to $10.

If one dislikes for -5 points, have to pay $50.

If poster is not happy, have to pay $50 to bid for +5 likes, to revert the post back to +5 likes.

If the disliked person is not happy and want to dislike again, have to pay $50 to revert to dislike -5 points.

There are no limitations on how many times to give likes or dislikes from the same person on the same post.

Each subsequent dislike and like from the same person for the same post is only limited to once per hour.

But if they really not happy and want to subsequent like or dislike within the one hour limit, they can pay another 20 points subcharge ($20) to give the -x or + x points under the same post, on top of the amount paid for the number of each dislikes/likes.

E.g. 15 minutes later, you want to dislike -5 points again. You pay $50, and $20 subcharge for the dislike. Total: $70.

Number of times within the hour, no limits.

What happens if the person do not have enough points?

You can buy points to continue give your like and dislikes.

Minimum 10 points per purchase and each purchase can only be in tens of points.

If you buy 100 points within a day, you can be awarded additional free 5 points from MCF.

If you buy 1,000 points within a day, you can be awarded an NTUC voucher worth $10.

If you continuously buy 1,000 points daily for a month (30 days), you can be awarded an NTUC voucher for $100.

@pchou, @kobayashigt and @babyblade, 3 internal personals have spoken on the issue, and the direction is clearly stated in their responses, is there any more needs to pursue the subject?
