Reckless Cyclist

How to enforce it? The enforcer cannot be 24/7 station at all pavement and roads to catch those e-scooter?! Same like illegal parking is everywhere on our road, enforcer also cannot catch all of them.

You are asking me a chicken and egg question.

Rules need to be enforce just like you need to make sure the rule you set is followed through by your kid.  Otherwise, it will not be effective.

On the other hand, you need to work during the day.  You can't enforce it during those times.  How do you ensure that your kid follow through your rule?

For illegal parking, enforcer is putting up camera in troublespot which is the easy way out for them.

actually majority of users are responsible users lah.

You can't say that.

If u ever cycled or use the cycling path on an e-scooter in your estate/parks, u know how many dickhead pedestrians walk on it without giving way?

However u like it, E-scooters and other such fancy PMD are here to stay and they are getting more and more prevalent. It can't be stopped. Pedestrians and users both have to be careful.

Actually i meant the policy-makers, not the users. (not that I think all users are responsible - there are loads of the brainless ones as well)

The users will definitely do it the most convenient way they know it.

It should be the policy-makers who should have thought through the full implications before they implement anything. And we are in this situation now because the policy-makers were irresponsible.

The policy makers cant regulate behaviour.

It's just like reckless cyclists cause death in 1960s. They still will in 2100.

Accidents will occur. The govt already banned e-scooters from going past 25kph. But there are punks out there modding power output.

And unlike cars its easy to change the power output.

Like with the weight issue, my wife can easily exceed the theoretical maximum range and probably speed of our e-scooter cos she's lighter than most escooter users.

Anyway, have to hire more people to be LTA enforcement officer lor. Stop people on their e-scooters etc.

In the year 2100 they will be quite old and maybe cannot pedal so fast

to kill people anymore. Maybe just bang them and injure them only.

:D

The thing is that the policy makers are paid to make the right policies; and nobody said it's an easy job.

They have better think through everything before they come up with any changes as there could be far-reaching implications - many affecting the lives of the population.

Sometimes have to make difficult decisions that will please a big group but anger a small group. We can learn to live and accept those. Even policies that make the govt rich and car owners poorer/fewer, we also have to take it in our stride.

Have they not learnt that making drastic changes in policies could result in major problems (think those policies that failed), and so realised the need to consider the whole situation and potential ramifications before implementation? Why rush it without a total package that can take care of all potential problems?

Now we have to live with and deal with more accidents, injuries and deaths - of which the root cause is this policy change.

The ppl who thinks about the implication are the mid level manager in govt agency.

Do you think they care about the far reaching implication or their career path?

Those who decided on this are totally and completely irresponsible to the max, period.

Becos our Monthly Jia Liao Bee Million dollar Club members got Ahmad to drive car and S80 or XC90 to freeze the road ahead for them.

So they totally cant feel it or the road is always clear. Never once in the jam.

True cause they never suffer on traffic jams, high ERP toll, sardine packed MRT and long waiting time for bus. Thats why they would not understand how commoners go through. Lol.

Beginner driver here.

I met these cyclist in front of me. And they still doesn't speed up.

Do I still follow them behind? I intend to turn left in front.

No point to change lane.

You lan-ga them, you are at fault ...

So, just be patient, follow them if you intend to turn just in front ...

Everybody happy :)

Wah knn, on foldable bicycles somemore.

Where the hell did they come from? If they kept left all the way its going to CTE towards the city direction...seriously wtf!

Maybe they are heading to the city? Lol.

I think the police can react in time though. Cuz expressway they got no where else to go. Call police and tell them where you are and which direction the cyclists heading. I am sure TP can come and intercept them.

Even TP managed to intercept them also no use. Think TP only give them warning. Then these cyclists might repeat their stunt again?!

I fully agree.

Full disclosure : I didn't always use to be this patient.

Maybe it's because I'm older and more mellow. Maybe it's the realisation that there's still an unprotected human being on 2 wobbly wheels who can easily capsize if I make him kancheong by overtaking him.

Whatever the reason, now I follow (at a safe distance) behind the cyclist as long as my turn is within the next 200m. That applies even if I'm driving a car that can execute the maneuver with surgical precision and great speed.

I can give cyclists chance for these things. It's when they start taking undue liberties like racing across pedestrian crossings or riding on the expressways that I get pissed off.
