13177 Hypersonic April 8, 2014 Share April 8, 2014 I would go for this SUV if the COE drops.... Been looking for a small SUV...toyota Rush and Daihatsu Terios are old school compact SUVs and interior is too plain...not as nice as this.. Small SUV? CX5 consider one? ↡ Advertisement
Baal Supersonic April 8, 2014 Share April 8, 2014 Think it is common to find car comes with CVT engine now. You cannot escape from it. But this car 1.5L, should be underpower? Agree now. The Jippun are like all going for cvt. Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Suzuki, Subaru. But at least now, its programmed to operate like a 7AT with pre-set virtual ratios even in D mode. At least that was what was claimed in the review for Altis. Also claimed dont have initial lag that plagues many cvt. My guess is that power wise should be like Honda Freed or slightly better. Kar_lover Supercharged April 9, 2014 Share April 9, 2014 Cat A? Haha... Now that so many brands & models are TCed, come Feb very few cars will stay in Cat A. Will local agent bring in the diesel engine option? I doubt they will. But good if they do. Btw for those wondering. I think this car is on the Honda City platform with the 1.5L petrol and diesel engine options available for Asia market. Manual transmission and 5speed auto for the gearbox options. It looks rather big, if in Cat A (less than 130hp), I think will be under-powered. Looking nice without sufficient power is sian....

Baal Supersonic April 9, 2014 Share April 9, 2014 (edited) 129bhp and doing 20km/l, not bad at all in my opinion. Comparable to a Prius. But realistically, if can safely get 13-14 (2/3 of their claim) is a step forward. What's a CVT engine? CVT is the transmission. Eg, Jazz 1.3, Trans = 5 speed auto Fit 1.3, Trans = CVT. The design is nice, only turn off is CVT. I have no faith in Honda CVT. Able to share details on this? Coz if I get a 2nd hand 2yrs later, a Gen 4 City idsi with cvt is actually on my hit list. Tia. While its very fuel efficient & torquey, durability wise, its 1 notch below a traditional AT. Needs more TLC than an AT.

Baal Supersonic April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 Sorry..not a pro in auto terms..what is TLC? no prob, I'm also no guru. TLC = Tender Loving Care. Eg, if u upsize ur rims, have the habit of accelerating hard frequently, wear & tear would set in earlier as oppose to an AT doing the same.

My previous car was a Jazz and I drove for 4 yrs. I didn't like the rubber band feel of CVT GB, iDSI engine is good, good low end torque and low FC. Read many complains from SHC and FJC about the CVT GB problem. Even the earlier badge of Civic ES model with 1.5L engine with CVT GB also had many issue on GB. Subsequently, the later facelift Civic were 1.6L and normal AT GB. At one point, it was obvious that Honda was moving away from CVT, their later Jazz/Fit model, City and Civic were normal AT. I think only Airwave continue to use CVT. I have reserve about CVT especially from Honda.
13177 Hypersonic April 11, 2014 Share April 11, 2014 Can we say that the only 'trusted' CVT is from mitsubishi? Cause i think mitsubishi has been using CVT donkey years ago. ↡ Advertisement
