  1. It's really a pain to drive to work in the morning nowadays. Driving is so different from few years back. While there is ERP, COE, all these measures have yet to prove their effectiveness. A true solution takes time and pain to implement, but at least it must be one that works. Therefore i am asking for good ideas/suggestions to improve the situation (only constructive suggestions please). Let me start with a few : 1) Setting up electronic notice boards to inform traffic condition before every entrance of expressway so that drivers can avoid jams. 2) Setting up a dedicated radio station to continuously broadcast traffic conditions 3) Setting up a SMS notification system for all drivers 4) Have more exits from expressway so that traffic can be diverted should there be a traffic jam 5) Privatise public transport so that there will be competition and hence improvement in the public transport 6) Build more expressways and flyovers (you see a lot of these in cities like Shanghai and Seoul etc) 7) Encourage students to take school buses instead of parents sending them to school
  2. go to the link for the pics ... personally I find the man's reaction totally unbelievable ... I don't believe in angels. S’porean locked up in inhumane conditions in KL after flying in with less than 6 months passport validity Summary: • The Singaporean man flew into KL with his friends for a gaming competition on June 8 and were expected to come back to Singapore on June 11. • However, he did not renew his passport which had about five months of validity left before it expired. • He was denied entry upon arriving at KLIA (KL International Airport ) on the June 8, at 3.15pm. • He was told he would be deported back to Singapore and he felt quite stupid about not renewing his passport beforehand and being a burden to his team. • He did not know what to do next and was told by immigration if he wanted to book a return ticket back himself or one could be booked for him. • He wanted the KL immigration to book his ticket for him, as he was feeling down and did not have enough cash. • The immigration officer then told the Singaporean man he would be denied entry into Malaysia for one month if he chose that option. • When he said he was okay with that, he was then told he might never come back to Malaysia again. • That was when he was taken to a cell the size of a four-room HDB flat to be locked up with 100 other people inside. • He was told to turn off his phone and take off his belt and put them in the storeroom and wait for his ticket, no questions asked. • The conditions in the cell were horrendous and reeked of foul odours from the lack of proper sanitation facilities. • There was not enough space, was filthy, gag-inducing and the people inside were piled up on top of one another. • There were apparently other tourists who were locked up in there, as well as supposed illegal immigrants. • There was a separate cell for women and children. • The Singaporean man was inside for 26 hours in total but it was barely tolerable. • He claimed he saw one of the cell mates being beaten up and choked by the Malaysian officers for asking questions. • He also said those with money could bribe their way out more easily. • Fortunately, the Singaporean man’s father contacted Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs after he stopped receiving messages from his son after a period of one day. • The Singapore immigration was shocked to hear of the man’s experience when he returned back and said Singapore’s lock-up had facilities such as beds. • The Singaporean man ended his note as a caution to other Singaporeans not to take chances and said his account is to shed light on what can actually take place overseas, outside the confines of Singapore’s predictable bureaucracy and standards. Reactions to his allegations and storyThe comments section of the Singaporean man’s Facebook post is a hotbed of accusations and counter-accusations, as well as people demanding for proof and poking holes in his story. One major contention is that his case appears to be more severe than normal given such a straightforward violation, as other individuals who travelled into Malaysia with less than six months passport validity only got turned back without much repercussions other than being inconvenienced. The condition of not being able to return to Malaysia ever again is considered very severe. The Singaporean man has repeatedly said in response to multiple comments that he is remorseful for his mistake and takes the blame for what happened in the first place, but he also wants to let others know how it is like overseas, away from the secure confines of Singapore’s jurisdiction and shedding light on how issues are handled. To satiate those who called for evidence to his claims, the Singaporean man provided a photo of the document that listed his transgression in Malaysia: The document said the reason he could not return to Malaysia is because he is a “prohibited immigrant”.
  3. Is it just me or is does anyone else realize that our roads conditions getting bumpier or uneven even expressways and heartlands.
  4. Hi Bros & Sis. My Malaysia friends pulled me into their malaysia road wechat grp recently which i think is quite a good thing... everyone in the grp actually post updated road status to inform each other whenever they see any malaysia police having spot checks or any accidents in jb area... thus I am thinking to open a sg traffic wechat grp to inform ourself about any spot checks, accidents to prevent us from kana unnecessary summons, stupid fines or stupid frustrating jams... but dun know if this will work out well.... (cause need everyone to help inform everyone whenever they spot any cheeky tp hiding anywhere..) if u all welcome the idea, shall we revert all yr wechat nick here so i will start adding. think max grp size is 500 people... let us siam all summons and travel safe!! 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Cheers!

  7. Plausible or full of sh1t? I think it's a bold move since LTA will sure rebut strongly? Also very puzzled by the insufficient all red comment. How long do you want the all red to be? I think they should reveal once and for all whether he had his pants on or not. Lawyers representing the family of the Ferrari driver who died in the Rochor Road crash have blamed the incident on "poor traffic conditions" and "surroundings". The Ferrari driver, Ma Chi, beat a red light and crashed into a taxi and a motorcycle at the Rochor Road traffic junction. The family's lawyers from Drew & Napier LLC also said the actions of the Ferrari driver who was a financial investor from Sichuan, were "unintended, unexpected and/or fortuitous". The May 12 crash killed the taxi driver and his Japanese passenger and injured the Ferrari passenger and the motorcyclist. They argued that the placement of the traffic lights at the junction "made it difficult for motorists to spot the traffic signals readily and easily", among other reasons. Their documents also stated that this led to vehicles having a "high likelihood" of failing to comply with traffic lights that just turned red against them. Adding on, the lawyers said the traffic-light system at the junction "did not provide sufficient time" for an "all-red phase" -- where all vehicles would stop at the junction. The junction was also labelled a "black spot" by the Land Transport Authority for the frequency of accidents there (over 15 accidents resulting in deaths or injuries in three years). Mr Ma's family lawyers were responding to a counter-claim and defence filed in the High Court on Sept 3 by lawyers acting for AXA Insurance Singapore who had withdrawn its coverage for the crash as it was "highly probably, foreseeable and to be expected". The lawyers from United Legal Alliance LLC also said it was a "collision", which meant the driver was aware that his actions would cause an accident, thereby voiding the insurer's liability to make a payout. However AXA told The Straits Times it would compensate the families of the third parties who were injured or killed in the crash.
  8. Anyone else noticed there are more road-hoggers / snail speed drivers on the roads today? The result of following election result program throughout last night? Drive safe!
  9. Hi thinking of changing tyres soon. Currently 195/50/15 Federal S335 dated 1108. So far so good except that side thread is wearing off, so car is becoming twitchy during wet conditions. Need recommendations for good tyres that performs well in the wet, dry never mind as most tyres perform well based on our normal driving speed. Any break away in grip also easier to catch during dry condition. Comfort and noise no issue with me as safety is most important. Thanks in advance!
  10. Any updates? Or roads to avoid? Jam? Flood? Closure? Trees?
  11. Hari Raya is Friday , so how is traffic on: 1) Thursday (Eve of Hari Raya) - is there heavy traffic of people going to/from Malaysia to celebrate? 2) Friday (Hari Raya Public Holiday) - I guess it should be super jammed with locals going JB 3) Saturday (2nd day of Hari Raya) - is there many malaysian cars coming over Singapore to visit relatives? also wondering will the Malaysian customs be very slow because all the Malay immigration officers on holiday? all feedback will be appreciated
  12. According to the Shin Min Daily news, 3 conditions needed before any withdraw of fund can be released. 1) must pay minimum S$600/- or more for administrative fee before any withdrawal 2) must wait for 21 days for check to be released. 3) if want faster release of fund withdraw, rope in a new member. The above was translated according to today's newspaper reporting. The 3rd condition is an outright insult to our intelligence and is also a tell tales sign of not enough money to pay if every member demand money at the same time. ( Just like the opposition party or some of us always claims, our government got no money to pay every Singaporean if we want our CPF money back at the same time)
  13. hope some bros here driving this exact model can contribute... thks
  14. ST 5/5/2007 I REFER to Mr Lau Kim Lon's letter, 'Should LCD monitors be on dashboards?' (ST, April 21), where he shared his concern about drivers being distracted by monitors installed on dashboards. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) allows the installation of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screens of in-vehicle information and communication systems in a vehicle so long as it does not affect safety. The screen should display only information for the purpose of navigation and the text should be large enough for the driver to read at a glance. Such systems should also have a voice-guidance feature that minimises the driver's interaction with the visual display unit. Nevertheless, drivers are advised to use the system only when it is safe to do so. LTA also allows the installation of LCD screens of in-vehicle entertainment systems, such as VCD/DVD systems, in a vehicle but the screen must be positioned such that the driver is not able to view it, for example, at the back seat. If the screen is fitted within the driver's view, it should have a safety feature that would turn off the screen automatically when the vehicle is moving. The in-vehicle systems should not interfere with existing vehicle controls or instrumentation, and the electrical system should be adequately protected against fire hazards. Installation of additional in-vehicle systems must be carried out by qualified personnel according to the system manufacturer's recommendations. The requirements regarding the installation of LCD monitors in vehicles are available at our one.motoring website at www.onemotoring.com.sg - Vehicle Modification and Information - Modifications Allowed - In-Vehicle Entertainment Systems - In-Vehicle Information and Communication Systems.

  17. Hi, I intend to take up the HSBC loan which gives $1500 cash rebate. The minimum loan period is 1 year and amount is $20000. I worked out the sum and found it unbelievable. The total interest that i need to pay at the end is $440 which means i will have a savings of $1060 !!! It is better than paying all in full. It is quite unbelivable. Does anyone know if there is any hidden conditions? Thanks !
