  2. Not many formula E threads here but isn't Singapore going green? Maybe we can host the race here as well? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_E Formula E, officially the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship,[1] is a single-seater motorsport championship for electric cars. The series was conceived in 2011 in Paris by FIA president Jean Todt and Spanish businessman Alejandro Agag, who is also the current chairman of Formula E Holdings.[2] The inaugural championship race was held in Beijing in September 2014.[3] Since 2020, the series has FIA world championship status.[4] Regulations The Spark SRT05e demo car at the 2020 Autosport International The Formula E championship is currently contested by eleven teams with two drivers each.[10] The sport features electric-powered race cars similar in style to the hybrid-drive cars of Formula One. Racing generally takes place on temporary city-centre street circuits, 1.9 to 3.4 km (1.2 to 2.1 mi) long.[11] Race day format A race day starts with two practice sessions in the morning: an opening 45-minute session followed by a further 30-minute session. During these sessions, the drivers are free to use the full qualifying power output (currently 250 kW (335 bhp)).[12], with a single 45 minute session on a double header sunday. From season 8, all practice sessions are 30 minutes. The qualifying session takes place later in the day and lasts approximately one hour. Under the current format (introduced in season 8), the drivers are split into two groups based on their position in the championship, those in odd-numbered places go into group A, while those in even-numbered places go into group B. The exception is in the first race of the season, where each team can nominate one driver into each group. Each group gets a 10-minute session to set a fastest lap at 220kW, of which the top 4 of each group will advance to the "duels" stage, where drivers face off head-to-head at 250kW over a quarter-final, semi-final and final. The winner of the final then lines up in position 1, the loser of the final in position 2, the losers of the semi-final in positions 3 and 4, and the losers of the quarter-final in positions 5 through 8, in order of time set in their respective sessions. The rest of the drivers from the group stage are placed alternately from position 9, with the polesitter's group in the odd places, and the other group in the even places.[13] The first four seasons had a lap distance set, usually an odd number, with pit-stops to swap cars half way through as the batteries lacked the capacity to last the whole race. During the second generation, the race is set to 45 minutes plus one lap. The introduction of the Gen2 car meant pit stops are no longer necessary, because the battery lasts for the full race. Since the all-weather tyres are designed to last for a whole race, pit stops are currently only needed to change a punctured tyre or to perform repairs on the car. In race mode the maximum power is currently restricted to 200 kW (268 bhp). Point scoring Points are awarded to the top ten drivers using the standard FIA system (25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1). The driver securing the pole position is also awarded 3 points, while the driver setting the fastest lap (if they finish in the top ten) additionally receives 1 point (2 points during the first two seasons). In addition, for season six and seven (2019-21) the driver achieving the fastest lap during group qualifying was awarded 1 point.[14] The championship consists of both a drivers' and teams' championship. A driver's end of season total is made up of a driver's best results. A team's total is made up by counting both drivers' scores throughout the season.[13] Fanboost For each race, fans can vote for their favorite driver via the official website or app to give them an extra power boost which can be activated by pushing an overtake button. Voting starts 3 days before the event and closes after the opening 15 minutes of the race. The five winning Fanboost drivers each receive an extra power burst that can be used in a 5-second window during the second half of the race.[13] Attack mode With the fifth season, a feature called Attack Mode was introduced, in which drivers received an additional 25 kW in season 5 (35 kW in season 6 and 7)[15] of power after driving through a designated area of the circuit off the racing line. The duration of the boost mode and the number of boosts available are decided only shortly before each race by the FIA to reduce the time the teams have to find the optimal strategy.[16] All attack modes must be activated at the end of the race, but do not need to be used up (i.e. if a final attack mode is activated in the penultimate lap, the driver is not penalized for having it still activated at the end of the race). If there is a full course yellow period or a safety car, attack mode is not allowed to be activated. For season 6 and 7,[17] each minute under safety car or FCY, 1 kWh of energy is removed from the total usable energy, giving drivers and teams more energy management tactics. From season 8, added time is used, where every full minute under a safety car or full course yellow within the first 40 minutes, 45 seconds is added to the race time up to a maximum of 10 minutes.[18] https://www.fiaformulae.com The Official Home of Formula E | FIA Formula E https://www.fiaformulae.com/en/championship/race-calendar https://www.fiaformulae.com/en/results/standings/driver https://www.fiaformulae.com/en/championship/teams-and-drivers www.fiaformulae.com/watch/ways-to-watch Can watch races here too https://www.youtube.com/c/FIAFormulaE/featured
  3. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_AFF_U-18_Youth_Championship Singapore right at the bottom of the table. Why are our youth so lousy despite drinking plentiful of expensive formula milk since newborn?? Go sports school with highly-paid sports professionals to train them. Clean water. Clean air. Nice bed. Nice aircon bedroom. High education. High calories food. Wear most expensive sports apparels. Parents subscribed to expensive tv sports package. Still can lose out to 3rd world countries with little to nothing of the above while growing up. Think North Korea.
  4. The FIA has revealed that the World Rally Championship will start using petrol-electric hybrid rally cars from the 2022 season. Using a common hybrid unit, the cars will have to be able to run on pure electric power during transit stages through cities while the hybrid powertrain will provide an electric power boost on special stages. To make the sport more entertaining, the teams will be given more technical freedom in 2025 even though this has not been confirmed. Also revealed by FIA is a few other new regulations that will soon come into effect. One of them is the stopping of tyre development from 2021 through 2024 in a bid to reduce costs and prevent a tire war among manufacturers. Another one is will require teams to use either a production car bodyshell or compete in vehicles with a tubular spaceframe chassis with a shell on top that features carryover parts from the standard road car it is based around. Cars with bigger dimensions will also be allowed to scaled down to comply with dimension targets.

  7. Having won the World Rally Championship (WRC) nine times in a row, Sebastien Loeb is widely regarded as the most successful rally racer ever. However, he has already made plans forward after the current season. Loeb's 2013 run in the WRC was on a limited schedule (sounds like part-time if you ask us). The versatile racing driver has decided to take part in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) next year, piloting the Citroen C-Elysee WTCC race car. He will also take part in Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) at the season's final race in Macau. While the future looks bright for the talented driver, things didn't look too well at his last WRC career race in France. At the first stage of the final day of competition at the Rally of France, Loeb crashed and landed top down in the forest. Fortunately, both Loeb and co-driver Daniel Elena came out of the wreckage unhurt. Jump to the video to catch the in-car footage of the whole accident. http://dai.ly/x15t563

  14. ESPN Soccernet latest : Beach ball referee Jones drops into Championship Mike Jones, the referee who incorrectly awarded Darren Bent's goal for Sunderland against Liverpool on Saturday, will not officiate in the Premier League this weekend. FIFA's laws of the game state "the referee should stop, suspend or abandon the match because of outside interference of any kind'', meaning the goal should have been ruled out and the match re-started with a drop ball. Jones will take charge of the Championship game between Peterborough and Scunthorpe at London Road. Jones' mistake has been widely criticised by a number of his former colleagues with Jeff Winter, Dermot Gallagher and Graham Poll all stating their surprise that such a basic error was made in a Premier League game. Gallagher said: "It was a glaring error and it's difficult to fathom. Even referees in local parks should know that if there is an outside agent on the pitch then you stop the game and restart it with a drop ball. "When you set out as a referee you learn the laws of the game and everyone should know it. For it to happen at this level and in such a high-profile game is unbelievable. Any one of the four officials should have stepped in.'' The possibility if the game being replayed has been rejected by the Premier League. Becomes referees also 'chia lat' .........
  15. With the loss of form for BrawnGP and the huge improvement from RBR and possibly McLaren, it seems both the driver and constructor crowns are still all up for grabs! so i just wonder what do bros/ sis here predict who and which team will be on tops at the end of the season... my guess, and ope Webber, simply for the great drive and determination which he displayed in returning to action from a broken leg, and the way he win the last race after a drive thru penalty. Vettel will be a good bet. however i think his drive is too aggressive at times, and so mistakes will be made over races. BrawnGP is in some trouble, possibly because their budget is limited relatively to RBR so not much new parts to come. then there's the crazy Rubens who wants equality and a public outburst blaming the team for the result in Germany. all in all, Button will be cursing his luck if Ross Brawn cannot think of a sloution to match, or should i say catch up, RBR overall pace in seemingly any track conditions. with the odds at SingaporePools at: 14 Webber 8.00 15 Vettel 2.80 to win the driver championship, it is a good gamble for the RBR boys as it is for 04 Brawn 1.50 06 Red Bull 2.00 to win the team championship
  16. The FIA has issued its official entry list for the Formula 1 World Championship. There are no real surprises on the list. The list is as follows: 1, Lewis Hamilton (Vodafone McLaren Mercedes); 2, Heikki Kovalainen (Vodafone McLaren Mercedes); 3, Kimi Raikkonen (Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro); 4, Felipe Massa (Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro); 5, Robert Kubica (BMW Sauber F1); 6, Nick Heidfeld (BMW Sauber F1); 7, Fernando Alonso (ING Renault F1 Team); 8, Nelson Piquet (ING Renault F1 Team); 9, Jarno Trulli (Panasonic Toyota Racing); 10, Timo Glock (Panasonic Toyota Racing); 11, Sebastien Buemi (Scuderia Toro Rosso); 12, TBA (Scuderia Toro Rosso); 14, Mark Webber (Red Bull Racing); 15, Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull Racing); 16, Nico Rosberg (AT&T Williams); 17, Kazuki Nakajima (AT&T Williams); 18, TBA (Honda Racing F1); 19, TBA (Honda Racing F1); 20, Adrian Sutil (Force India F1); 21, Giancarlo Fisichella (Force India F1). The FIA noted that the Honda team is for sale, but an entry was made under that name. ---------------- It is quite likely that the Honda team will use Mercedes-Benz engines in 2009. The team will be renamed but at the moment there is no word on what it will be called. Ferrari has all-but announced that it will not be supplying engines for the team, which would seem to suggest that the team has a limited number of options, but we believe that negotiations are well-advanced with Mercedes-Benz. The team will not be getting much in the way of pre-season testing (if any) and so it is going to be starting a little behind the opposition but much effort has gone into the 2009 programme and so the team hopes to be relatively competitive. The discussions over who will own the team are ongoing but a decision is expected within a few days. We believe there will be a management buyout. from grandprix.com
  17. Since this week is the F1 week, everyone is grooving into the mood of the events (forget what the ST writer mentioned in yesterday newspaper). I would like to see what all the drivers out here enjoy watching more, F1 or WRC? 20. The World Motor Sport Council met in Paris on June 29, 2005. The following decisions were taken in regards to the World Rally Championship. Tarmac safety was looked at and decided that safety cars will be permitted, 1 per P1 and P2 driver. Rallye de France (Corsica) and Rally Catalunya which run on consecutive weekends will require the engine and chassis for each car entered by a manufacturer to be sealed and scrutineered. Lastly, a rule change that will please Skoda and Mitsubishi - who have been campaigning for few events per season. These two teams will be able to nominate a maximum of three (3) events to be absent from during the 2006 season. Details of the decisions: 1. To reinforce safety for all Championship rallies run on asphalt, safety cars will be permitted to cover one passage of every special stage. One car will be permitted for each P1 and each P2 driver. One car from the rally organisation will be permitted for all other drivers. 2. The Rallye de France-Tour de Corse and the Rally Catalunya-Costa Daurada will be run, for 2005, on two consecutive weeks as
