  1. Now this is not something the residents of Ang Mo Kio get to see everyday! A Traffic Police officer has apparently skidded on the wet floor and crashed his Yamaha bike at the lift lobby of Block 619 Ang Mo Kio. As reported by SG Road vigilante, the incident happened on 27 May 2020 and eye witnesses claim that the officer was trying to chase another motorbike through the void deck when the police officer lost control and hit the wall. The comments by netizens were generally supportive of the officer going all the way in the fight for justice, with the usual few negative views here and there.
  2. Any one can recommend contractor or company to install wood deck strips on patio? Patio size about 300 sq ft or less. Any tips on what kind of wood or material to use for our weather? I know there are real wood and WPC, and some other artificial material. I need something that doesn't retain heat and lesser maintenance fuss. Real wood will get discoloration over time? Must vanish regularly? What's the cost of the vanishing?

  7. Recently my neighbor's wife who is a PR from China gave birth to twins.. Apparently they couldnt cope and his wife got her parents from PRC here to look after their children.. The thing is her father is some sort of a karang guni man.. He collects alot of items, from old newspaper, pots, empty drink cans, stools, cardboxes, luggages, bits and pieces of metal from old electrical appliances and equipments, loose wires (im lookin at it as I type) I've seen old crt televisions, parts from furniture and many more.. Now, their unit is at the corner right where the staircase landing is and i stay just beside them.. So he conveniently dumps all these items at the area just outside his house and beside the stairs.. Ok, I take my regular smoke at the staircase, so I watch the items build up over time.. At the beginning it didnt really bothered me as I thought it might just be a hobby for his dad.. And since only me and my sis uses this stairs for our smoke breaks.. It didnt really obstruct the passage.. But he managed to make it a junkyard of sorts.. I'm more concerned with the items posing as fire hazards.. And it really is unsightly.. Now the question is would u guys report this to the town council or hdb? My family is on talking terms with them(the ladies).. Would I be a bas***d to rat on them? Would post a pic later..
  8. Both committed the act of signalling without checking and just switch into your lane. Unless you can change lane without impeding my driving, jolly well do it whether you signal or not. There are drivers out there who can do it swiftly and safely, unfortunately you are not one tiny little bit of it. Especially the woman driver, atrocious driving and arrogant cb face, you should not be on the road. You belong to the carnival bumper car rink. Turn your cb head and observe before you change lane...knn...u looked like you had a marathon blow job session and having sprained neck now as you drive...dun drive like a zombie...knn...take consolation that you are not the only woman driver like that...pui If anything happens to you, I wont even feel a bit of sympathy, you bloody deserve it! The bloody bus made me braked hard and I broke my watch strap and items fell onto the floor. People like this unnecessarily drive up the insurance premiums across the board...pui! ok ok just let me rant a bit here and I will be ok. wtf.
  9. Why SG kids so violent these days ? Lack of parenting ? Wrong priorities in our society ? Man stabbed in row with love rival at void deck Mr Goh showing the injuries he suffered in the knife attack. -- PHOTO: COURTESY OF HENDRIX GOH A HAWKER'S assistant told The Straits Times on Tuesday how he was stabbed by a love rival at the void deck of a block of flats. Mr Hendrix Goh, 25, said the 19-year-old, who had once dated his girlfriend, knifed him in the collarbone, left arm and back. He said he was hospitalised for a week after the incident in Bedok North earlier this month. The youth is understood to have been arrested. Mr Goh said he was walking to get a taxi with his girlfriend and two other friends after having supper at a hawker centre when the suspect called to say that he wanted to come and return the girl's phone. When he arrived, he asked to speak to Mr Goh privately. Then, Mr Goh said, the youth took out a jack-knife from his pocket and slashed his cheek. He said his girlfriend ran forward to help, but the youth pushed her away. A tussle broke out, during which Mr Goh was stabbed. http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_680114.html
  10. ST Forum May 31, 2011 Chiam on closure of void-deck office LAST Saturday's report ('All MPs can now rent void deck space') mentioned that I closed the office I built in 1985 at Block 108, Potong Pasir Avenue 1 for the Meet-the-People sessions (MPS). This is untrue. The office was actually built by the HDB and not by me. In 1992, the HDB swiftly demolished my MP's office within a day. This occurred a year after my former party (Singapore Democratic Party) won three seats in Parliament. I was then forced to use the void deck, and this was where I conducted my MPS. The premises had no toilet facilities and it was only in the last few years, through frugal savings by the Potong Pasir Town Council, that a toilet was built in that same void deck. Chiam See Tong FORUM NOTE: The writer was the MP for Potong Pasir from 1984 to 2011.
  11. WP holds Meet-the-People Sessions by Tanya Fong 04:47 AM May 24, 2011 SINGAPORE - As they battled the sweltering heat under the void decks, Workers' Party Members of Parliament for Aljunied GRC in Eunos, Paya Lebar and Serangoon met their residents for the first time. And while they continued with WP chief Low Thia Khiang's tradition of holding their Meet-the-People Sessions (MPS) in void decks and meeting them one-on-one, Mr Chen Show Mao and his volunteers also added a systematic touch. Organising his team into six groups, Mr Chen led the charge, while four other groups of volunteers also met residents and one group took charge of registration. Said Mr Koh Choong Yong, WP's webmaster and youth wing president, who helped out at Mr Chen's MPS: "The residents have not seen their MP for four weeks and this is the first for them with Mr Chen and the party so we expected a crowd, and decided to try out this system to streamline the process." All residents would get to meet Mr Chen and they could choose to consult the other volunteers, added Mr Koh, noting that response has been good. Spotted helping out at Mr Chen's MPS were Mr L Somasundaram, Ms Frieda Chan, members of WP's Moulmein-Kallang team in the recently-concluded General Election, as well as Mr Mohamed Fazli from the East Coast team. In total, 45 residents registered at Mr Chen's MPS. Said Mr Chen: "I'm very excited and very happy to serve because we are listening to the real problems of residents." The void deck at Block 146, Serangoon North Avenue 1, where Workers' Party chairman Sylvia Lim met residents was also abuzz, with residents bringing down their own chairs when they heard there were not enough chairs for the MPS attendees. Noting that town councils will be officially handed over to elected MPs this Friday, Ms Lim said: "Obviously, it's a new chapter for us - the Workers' Party and for me personally. Finally, we have a mandate from the people to hold a Meet-the-People session, to represent them in whatever appeals that they may have with the government department. So it's really quite something." Moulmein-Kallang candidate Toh Hong Boon and Nee Soon candidate Sajeev Kumalasan were also there to help. About 40 residents brought a range of issues from family problems to legal matters. A parent who lived in Kovan also brought her daughter to ask Ms Lim for advice on her university admission. Madam Zheng Feng Mei, 66, who sought Ms Lim for help regarding a legal matter surrounding her late father's flat, said in Mandarin: "I feel better after talking with her and that someone can help me." At Block 615, Bedok Reservoir Road, Mr Pritam Singh met 48 residents, as well as having a surprise visit from former MP for Aljunied GRC Zainul Abidin, who was at the community club nearby. Meanwhile, the party's first open house since the elections saw some 150 members of the public packing into its headquarters in Syed Alwi Road last night. The WP's MP for Hougang Yaw Shin Leong, NCMP Gerald Giam and Nee Soon GRC team leader John Yam fielded a slew of questions from the audience over one-and-a-half hours, ranging from ways they can volunteer in the WP and the party's plans. Several of them also threw up suggestions, such as setting up a Malay bureau for better outreach and building up a database on the demographic profiles of different constituencies. First MPS by Chen Show Mao https://www.facebook.com/notes/chen-show-ma...156303197768282 First MPS (May 23, 2011) by Chen Show Mao on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 12:52am I've been looking forward to this evening. Aljunied is our home and we look forward to making our home even better for every one of us. The Aljunied MPs begin our Meet-the-People sessions this week. I belong to a dedicated and enthusiastic team. I know Aljunied will be well served. Mr Low has set the bar for us in his 20 years as Hougang's MP. I will listen very intently and offer my views and assistance. I hope to do more, though. I hope to work together with the residents to find solutions to the problems that we face here in Aljunied, so that we all feel more empowered to make a difference in our lives. 阿裕尼的人民是我們的衣食父母。為他們服務是我們最基本、最核心、最重要的工作,我們一定會把它做好。 At our first MPS, many came with their good wishes, some even brought us flowers, banners, pictures, chrysanthemum tea and kindly-thought-of flax oil. On our void deck, the tables and chairs were set up expertly, and the process flowed smoothly, thanks to our many volunteers. There was still a great deal of waiting around by the residents, which we hope to reduce in the future with the help of more volunteers. A resident had too much to drink and grew boisterous, but managed to tell us most of his woes.
  12. Hi anyone can advise how to to give Ang Pow for HDB void deck Malay Wedding? Heard give $10 can liao issit? Please advise. Dun want to malu myself
  13. yes u didnt see the title wrongly. it is really in the void deck. not in the car park but in the void deck. alright i sound like pck in ris low style. Anw. this is my sighting for today,17/10/09 at bukit batok block 140. while i was sitting at the coffee table slacking like anybody will do, i saw this Toyota Wish xxx9346x(OPC) driving up the handicapped-friendly ramp and into the void deck. this is seriously crazy. And the most retarded part is when driver tells his neighbour he drive in because he wanted to unload 2 boxes and the weather is hot. this is so irresponsible. it not just compromise the safety of the passenger but also the pedestrian. i've uploaded a pic ive taken. sorry for the poor quality. but i think this is really ridiculous. i've seen people misuse handicapped toilet or parking lots, but this is the first time is see this. i think they need to educate the people the correct way to use the ramp. if not u might just see a Peel P50 parked beside staircase next time.
  14. I wonder what is the reserved sign for? So early KiaSi reserved the void deck already. Normally three uses of void deck in HDB. 1) Wakes 2) Marriages 3) RC activities.
  15. 1. I find having a Trunk Spoiler creates good down force when driving at high or top speed. To me, it is of good practical usage. 2. However, I'm not certain whether by choosing a Deck Lid Spoiler would equate to a "good enough choice" and serve practical purpose. Looking at this option is because don't wanna make the next car looks too "loud". Trunk Spoiler: Deck Lid Spoiler: Please advise me. Thank you. Regards,
