  2. AN NUS law professor is under investigation by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) for allegedly being involved in a sex-for-grades deal with a female undergrad. The New Paper understands the professor who teaches at the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law was arrested in April and is now out on bail. 3. My question for the parents here, how many of you had fight with your spouse over the child's studies and grade, or the way to discipline your kids? Do you think the mum action is too extreme or kiasu?
  4. Why do we singkies nowadays have such a loser's mentality? Can we return to the good old days, bitch less and work harder to overcome obstacles? From http://forum.channelnewsasia.com/viewtopic.php?t=395245 "Sheer hard work and determination" How do these FTs compare to our locals who: 1) do not speak Chinese at home 2) demand that Chinese must be fun in order for them to learn 3) struggle with Chinese as a result 4) fail Chinese for obvious reasons (do not read, do not speak, do not watch, do not bother, how to pass?) 5) demand that Chinese weightage must be lowered so that they can compete 6) best of all, make Chinese optional How to compete with such a mindset? -------- A GROUP of China-born students at Crescent Girls' School powered themselves from F9s to A1s for English in just two years. Asked for their secret, the girls, who failed English when they started out in Secondary 3 here in January 2009, said sheer hard work and determination made this possible. And they did not work on just their English in those two years. All seven scored nine A1s in the O levels they sat last year. Then again, they are obviously bright: They all found mathematics here a breeze because they were getting far tougher questions back home; science also presented little difficulty because they had covered Singapore's O-level science syllabus by the time they finished the equivalent of Secondary 3 in China. They also found Higher Chinese easy, and most of them chose to take Chinese literature as their humanities subject. But English was their Mount Everest. It was one of the reasons they were placed in Secondary 3 here - to give them a year to work at the language - though by age, they should have been in Secondary 4.
  5. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../410356/1/.html SINGAPORE: Pump prices in Singapore have gone down for a second day in a row. But this time, only diesel and higher grades of petrol are affected. Shell was the first to revise prices downwards by 4 cents for its 98-grade petrol, V-Power and diesel at 3pm on Friday. Caltex, Esso and SPC followed suit shortly after. Pump prices for diesel and all grades of petrol dipped by 3 cents on Thursday. Dono what are they trying to proof now, encourage user to pump higher grade fuel now?
  6. Sometime ago, my brake pads were worn out and I went to stockist shop, Min Ghee, to purchase original brake pads. I paid about S$80 dollars for a front pair. Recently, I was told by a colleague that there are different grades for original brake pads and mine which I have bought could be OEM since it cost me only S$80 dollars. I was told that the real original brake pad from car manufacturer is from Japan and it will not cost so cheap as S$80. I was quoted S$150 dollars a pair for the front pair. Is there such a thing as different grades for original brake pads? I only heard about original and OEM brake pads but it was something new to me about different grades of original brake pads.
  7. I been using the eraser claybar on my car body n rims with pretty good effectiveness. Recently I found that it is less effective. Is it due to AGE. Also are there diff grades out there that are better at lifting grit off?
  8. Hi all! Just to check, have anyone thought of mixing the different grades of petrol eg. Shell 98 with Shell 95? I was at my mech yesterday and met this guy who is supposedly an engine oil expert and supplier... He'd posed me this question if I had thought of mixing the different grade of petrol... I then asked him what is the benefits of mixing it and he said that it'll give good FC and millege... So wonder if anyone knows the answer or have an answer to it... According to him, he says it does and is good... On his Euro Accord that he drives lah.. Also he said that putting Superione cause the cam and valve to be damaged due to leaner air... Any idea if it's true? Mooooooooooooooo
