  1. The president of the FIA, Jean Todt, has revealed that Michael Schumacher is making good progress in his recovery. The champion had a near-fatal skiing accident in 2013. This is a surprising news as Schumacher's family has been very private about his health updates. However, The Sun, revealed that Todt often visits Schumacher and watched the recent German Grand Prix with him on TV. “I’m always careful with such statements, but it’s true. I saw the race together with Michael Schumacher at his home in Switzerland,” Todt said. “Michael is in the best hands and is well looked after in his house. He does not give up and keeps fighting.” Sadly, Todt revealed that Schumacher has problems communicating with him. “His family is fighting just as much and of course our friendship cannot be the same as it once was. Just because there’s no longer the same communication as before. He continues to fight. And his family is fighting the same way.”
  2. With the blessing of his family, a documentary about Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher's racing career is set to open at the end of this year. As reported by Motorsport Magazine, the film will showcase Schumacher's Formula 1 journey starting from Jordan, Benetton, Ferrari to Mercedes-Benz. It has been 25 years since the legend claimed the first of his seven Formula 1 championship title. Fans will be thrilled to hear that the documentary could include the footage of the racing driver at home with his family since his near-fatal ski accident in late 2013. It could also feature footage from his recent 50th birthday celebrations in Mallorca and will include interviews from wife Corinna and father Rolf along with children Gina-Maria and Mick. Produced by German production company B 14 Film, a trailer of the documentary film is expected to be shown during this month’s Cannes Film Festival. “Michael’s outstanding career deserves to be celebrated 25 years after he achieved his first of seven world championship titles,” Schumacher family spokesperson Sabine Kehm said. “We are happy this film will be in the hands of such ambitious and sensitive professionals.”

  4. Michael Jordan has lowered the price on his art deco mansion to $16 million, nearly two years after first trying to sell it for nearly twice that amount. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lf_w0olusA The house is on seven-plus acres in Highland Park, Ill., about 25 miles north of Chicago. The former NBA star first put it on the market in March 2012 for $29 million. The price was cut to $21 million nearly a year ago and then failed to sell at auction last month, when nobody made even the $13 million minimum bid. The house was built in 1995 and has nine bedrooms, 15 baths, a cigar room, and a garage big enough to hold 14 cars. There's a huge home gym. Katherine Malkin, the listing agent, said the most awesome home feature is the regulation sized basketball court. "There's nobody -- man, woman or child -- who walks on the court who is not stunned by it," she said. "The lighting, the floor, everything is so beautiful." With the court and finished lower level of the house included, the compound totals about 56,000 square feet. Outdoors is a chipping range and putting green, tennis courts, a lily pond and a huge flagstone patio. The front entrance gate sports a giant number 23 -- not for the address but, of course, for Jordan's former number. http://money.cnn.com/2014/01/03/real_estate/jordans-house/ ------------- 56,000 square feet stared bid at $13mil, and nobody bought... 7. Former midfielder Ballack unable to pay speeding fine LONDON -A lawyer for Michael Ballack claimed yesterday that the former Chelsea midfield player could not afford to pay a speeding fine because he is unemployed. The Daily Telegraph reported that the former Germany captain was caught by a speed camera doing 210kmh in his four-wheel drive Audi U7 on a Spanish motorway near the resort town of Trujillo on Oct 17. The limit for that stretch of road is 120kmh. At his initial court hearing the day after his arrest, his legal team were told that he faced a two-year driving ban and an
  8. Mercedes drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg have praised the team's new F1 W03's handling in comparison to its predecessor. Both drivers were in the hunt for pole position in Australia on Saturday, with Rosberg leading the way in Q2 before making a mistake on his hotlap in Q3. That left him seventh on the grid, while Schumacher will start fourth. "Since day one in this car, it was very obvious that it is much more to my liking [than the 2011 car]," said Schumacher. "If you look at the steering movements you have to do to get into the corners, they are probably half of what I had to do last year. "It's definitely much more a racing car, that I can just feel and drive and do what I want to do [with it]. That was clear since the beginning of the winter tests, and all weekend here." Rosberg added that the 2012 machine had the feel of a frontrunning car. "You can definitely feel that this car is faster or more competitive," he said. "Even though it's difficult to compare to other cars and things like that, it's just more together. You can attack more. It feels faster, definitely. "We are moving forward, much closer to the front. That's great news. It's so important that we progress towards the front, and we're doing that. And I also feel there is more to come." Schumacher added some caution, pointing out that Mercedes had come from a long way adrift with its 2011 car. "We look particularly good because we looked not so good last year," he said. "So in that respect, we moved up a big step, and this is what we are all very happy with - to have a stable base, a car without any particular problems that we can from here on focus forward on the development. "But don't forget Australia is not always a straightforward hint for the season. It's a bit particular, so although we are happy, we want to see reality in the future at different tracks and see what it all means." http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/98139

  11. SEVEN-time world champion Michael Schumacher cut a happier figure after his sixth place at the Spanish Grand Prix than after an abject performance a fortnight ago in Turkey. The 42-year-old had another impressive start moving from tenth up to sixth place and said he was pleased to have held his position but admitted that he had struggled with his car's setup. "We managed to make the most out of our possibilities today which is good news, especially for our guys who I am happy for," he said. "I had a good start. Going right through the middle was tight but fortunately it worked out. Then the race was about holding position from there. "We can be happy with the result but other than that, it was just tricky with oversteer, tyre degradation and poor balance to deal with. "Still we achieved what we could have, and I look forward to going to Monaco (next weekend)," added Schumacher, who earlier in the day had refuted claims he would be retiring. His compatriot and team-mate Nico Rosberg believes a faulty rear wing hampered his chances of a higher-placed finish. Rosberg, son of Finland's former world champion Keke, started and finished seventh. Rosberg lost communication with his team and suffered a problem with his car's drag reduction system that meant he was unable to overtake down the long straight. The 25-year-old, who qualified third in Turkey and had expected to be more competitive during the race, admitted he had been left feeling frustrated. "Unfortunately it was a difficult race for me," Rosberg said. "The radio didn't work so that made it difficult. "Then my rear wing also broke so I didn't have the overtaking system and it made it very difficult to overtake. "Otherwise for sure I could've moved up and I'm sure I would've finished a lot closer to the top because I think I had pretty good pace today." Although Rosberg felt he was held up by Schumacher, he admitted his team was still a long way off the pace of the frontrunners. "I was pretty happy with my car, it felt good." "I think I had good speed, but there's still a lot of work to do because unfortunately I don't think we really managed to close the gap yet."
  12. Mercedes GP team principal Ross Brawn said driver Michael Schumacher has rediscovered his edge. The German finished ninth in the drivers' championship last season, but the seven-time World Champion was fastest on day two of testing at Jerez. "It would be a tremendous boost for Formula 1 if he succeeds," Brawn told BBC Radio Northampton. "We had a quiet year with Michael last year. Now he's looking sharp and he might surprise a few people." Brawn commented that this will be the season where Schumacher, who said he was "slightly concerned" about the pace of the new Mercedes , showed the quality that brought him two world titles with Benetton and five with Ferrari. "He's not been involved in the sport for three years, and undoubtedly in that time, certain edges go soft. I think they're sharp again now," stated Brawn. If we can do a great car then there's no reason why he or Nico Rosberg shouldn't win races Mercedes GP team principal Ross Brawn "I've heard the comments that he's tarnishing his image because he's not winning races, but he's loving what he's doing. He's not worried what people think about him." Despite his success in Jerez, the German used Pirelli's super soft rubber tires and Red Bull driver Mark Webber told Yahoo! Eurosport that Schumacher's pace in testing had been "a little show for Germany". Brawn, who worked with Schumacher at Benetton and Ferrari before he brought him out of retirement to join Mercedes GP last season, disagreed with that assessment. "He wasn't showboating [in testing]. We didn't set out to do a low lap time," said Brawn. "We didn't have a good car last year - we didn't hold up our side of the bargain - but if we can do a great car then there's no reason why he or Nico Rosberg shouldn't win races." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport...one/9399262.stm
  13. from http://en.espnf1.com/mercedes/motorsport/story/29781.html "Michael's driving style depends on a strong front tyre that can withstand his hard braking and the steering manoeuvres that he prefers. Nico has simply understood better how to handle these front tyres. " If Michael is such a good driver, shouldn't he be able to tweak his driving style to suit the car. He should at least be on par with Nico.
  14. Formula One legend Michael Schumacher's Bugatti EB 110 SS (Sport Stradale) has gone up for sale. Only 33 units are believed to have been produced. The banana-yellow car was registered to him and is said to be in better-than-new condition. It is the only one with an EB 110 GT luxury interior. Schumacher apparently hardly ever used the car. The EB 110 SS was based on the EB 110 which was unveiled in 1991. It is lighter and more powerful than its daddy, featuring the same 3.5-litre quad-turbo V12 and 6-speed manual transmission. But instead of 412 kW (553 bhp / 561 PS) the SS was good for 450 kW (603 bhp / 611 PS) at 8,000rpm and a 0 - 100km/h time of 3.2 seconds. Source: jameslist.com
  15. Pls liverpool fans, stop calling him a traitor. From my understanding,he is willing to sacrifice himself and join a club which he did not like.He brought his worst bad luck and jinx them .In my heart,he is the best.Hope he can stay there for another 10 years. All the best to Owen.
  16. Formula one living legend, Michael Schumacher could be returning to the GP circuit following his announcement that he has agreed to join back Mercedes nfrom the next season beginning 2010. A German daily newspaper Bild, adds that Schumacher and Mercedes have reportedly agreed to a one-year contract and will announce the deal sometime next week. Schumacher's people declined comment, while Mercedes gave only a cryptic "there is always speculation as long as one seat in our team is not taken." When a battery of journalists queried whether he is genuinely contemplating a return to the grand prix grid at the age of 41 in 2010, Schumacher enigmatically told Brazilian website Terra:

  19. Michael Schumacher is returning to the sport in which he made his name and fame. In his prime Schumi was harder to pass than gallstones and stood on more podiums than my sister during her time at a lapdancing club. I wouldn't mind but she only went there once as a visitor. The burning question now is whether Schumacher, a 40-year-old, seven-time Formula One champion with 91 race victories to his name, will still be able to mix it with the new generation of boy racers. The advancement in technology since Schumacher retired has been marked, so much so even Jenson Button can win races. The last time Schumacher broke 70mph was when he was stopped for speeding in the UK. One of thosearcastic coppers approached him and said: Would you say it's very dangerous driving at that speed?" So Schumacher replied: "It's very dangerous driving at that speed." Hills have slashed the price to 12-1 from 16-1 for the German to win the next race in the calendar, the European Grand Prix, which I believe is held in Europe. Advertisement - article continues below
  20. 7 times World Champion and a Ferrari Formula 1 driver once again, Michael Schumacher is working hard in order to prepare himself for his re-debut at the European Grand Prix, happening next month on the 23rd. Apart from performing various exercises to increase his stamina and to train his neck muscles, the 40 year old is performing tests on a Ferrari Formula 1 simulator, which is a must-have tool for modern Grand Prix drivers. Such simulators offer real-life racing scenarios. Just like some high quality racing games, a simulator features circuits developed using laser technology and satellite images, and cars with real life driving characteristics. In fact, drivers can virtually drive in various scenarios, such as rain (light, hard, monsoon) and suffer from mechanical failures. You can also perform things like practicing on starts and pitstops. Basically it is very real, but of course, there are certain things that you can only get when you drive a real Formula 1 car on a real track. A Ferrari F2007 Formula 1 car. The German will now test the F2007 Formula 1 car, which is the car used back in 2007. This is because there is a testing ban that disallows mid-season testing. However, Michael Schumacher has requested permission to test with this year
  21. Michael Schumacher on Wednesday announced he is looking forward to the challenge of replacing his injured former Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa at forthcoming grands prix. "I met this afternoon with Stefano Domenicali and Luca di Montezemolo and together we decided that I will prepare myself to take the place of Felipe," the 40-year-old German, who retired in 2006, said. Schumacher hung up his helmet as a record-holding seven time world champion and winner of 91 grands prix and insists he has never regretted his decision. "Though it is true that the formula one chapter was completely closed for me a long time ago, it is also true that for loyalty reasons to the team I cannot ignore (this) unfortunate situation," he added. "But as the competitor I am I also very much look forward to facing this challenge," said Schumacher. Ferrari also confirmed the news, following reports in the respectively German and Swiss newspapers Bild and Blick. The Italian team said it will enter Schumacher as the alternative competitor of Massa's car number 3 following a training programme for the German, who earlier this year hurt his neck in a motorcycle testing crash. "I really can't tell you if his neck would be fine to drive an F1 race ... and remember he is a 40-year-old man, too," Schumacher's spokeswoman Sabine Kehm said on Tuesday. Ferrari Statement Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro intends to put Michael Schumacher in Felipe Massa's car untill the brazilian driver will be able to race again. Michael Schumacher said he is ready and, over the next few days, will undertake a specifc training programme at the end of which confermation will be given of his participation in the Championship with effect from the European Grand Prix on the 23rd of August
  22. Swimming: Biedermann takes 200m free world title, record from Phelps Posted: 29 July 2009 0126 hrs Photos 1 of 1 Paul Biedermann (L) and Michael Phelps ®competing during the men's 200m freestyle final ROME : Germany's Paul Biedermann handed Michael Phelps his first major international defeat since 2005 on Tuesday, winning the 200m freestyle world title in a world record of 1min 42.00sec. Biedermann broke the world record of 1:42.96 set by Phelps in winning Olympic gold at the Beijing Olympics last August 12. Phelps was second in 1:43.22. Phelps, who claimed an unprecedented eight Olympic gold medals in Beijing to take his career total to 14, hadn't been beaten in individual world or Olympic competition since losing to Ian Crocker in the 100m fly at the 2005 Worlds in Montreal. He was 10-for-10 since then, winning five individual events at the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne and five in Beijing. Biedermann's performance followed his 400m freestyle triumph, in which he erased the iconic world record set by Australian Ian Thorpe in 2002. The German acknowledged after that race that he believed his high-tech bodysuit made a difference of some two seconds for him in the 400m free. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp.../445287/1/.html
