U super brave de! [thumbsup]

I would never have considered India, every time I go there, I get diarrhea 100% even when I only ate at their 5 star hotel restaurant for breakfast, lunch n dinner

The UK part is great, very nice :)

After you get 100% diarrhea your "guts" become stronger after a few days on the drip or electrolytes and then you can join them [:p] ; It depends on the city and the density of the place too and the season you are there in too ;

Where where? U mean in MY?

yeah.

What Bilahari said is true. Things may come to a head in the coming years. Certainly the tension is worse than the last 20 years.

if BN win and stay in power ... things not gonna change any better

if opposition coaliation win ... this one really "dont know what will happen" - perhaps a change of wind direction but as 1st term it aint gonna be easy

It won't happen. the numbers are moving away from them. the chinese and indian population is shrinking.

The ruling party no longer need to play to chinese/indian voters at all.

That's what bilahari cautioned about. And why the DPP was so pissed.

yeah ironically, they will probably need to do less and less of these as they bring in more indonesians and give them ICs.

It's a situation where the minorities will get even more marginalised. So Bersih etc will look even more like it's a chinese ploy to destablise the country.

There's no lack of hotheads in any country.

Ok back to track. Yeah i won't be choosing to reside in malaysia anytime soon.

Human nature. Tbh. Most of us here are car owners and home owners. By virtue of car prices, that would make most of us top 25 percentile of earners in singapore?

To be able to afford a 100k car and 500 k flat in sg. Are we really doing that badly that we need to emigrate just to survive ?

Few have the need to migrate, we are certainly not economic migrants but looking at it more for wellbeing of next generations.

Moving to Malaysia to enjoy low cost retirement is not migration, IMHO.

do we really need to move overseas to enjoy our retirement.

and can we really enjoy our retirement in our old age in a foreign country?

If you go to Samui you can see there are probably more AMTK than locals .. [laugh] A lot of British people indeed .. some of which I talked with, they divorced their wives, sold their house back home and move there, form a new family.

England: cold, dark and wet

Why not? While the grass on the other side is not always greener, there are other factors that may make sense for many to consider the option.

Like many things in life, there is no perfect place, you just need to know what you and your family want in order to have a more fulfilling life. Money is not everything and while it can buy some happiness, it is a mean, not the end.

Whether voluntary or involuntary migration is still migration. Usually, the latter is referred to as diaspora which most of our ancestors in Singapore have been through.

I meant to say people who keep their red passports but reside in Malaysia are not exactly uprooting themselves to another country.

Not going to get into a debate on what constitutes migration.

Stay in Malaysia is not so easy.  First have to buy a house and must be above a certain amount for foreigners, and property in developed areas also not cheap.  Also have to put up with the poor neighbourhood security.  And if your friends and relatives are in Singapore then one will feel lonely.  Not easy to have the best of both worlds.

Agreed ...

No matter what, we would still be considered as 2nd class citizens in a foreign country ...

If you have money, you can be first class everywhere. Hard truth.

Haha that time young lah and also had 2 other colleagues go with me so it was like an adventure.

You said it, every visitor that we had would experience least 1/2 weeks of LS, what Indian staff said the spices they use are mildly toxic so newbies are not used to it. What they put the yogurt and spices on the same plate of biryani  for instance. I usually put 1 part spice and 3 parts yogurt to counteract whatever nonsense in the spice. :D

UK is actually a great place to retire (countryside not London). but with more and more refugees that might change. Our relatives who live in the countryside have council houses near time which was unheard of years back.Crime rate also went up in the village.
