Haha that time young lah and also had 2 other colleagues go with me so it was like an adventure.

You said it, every visitor that we had would experience least 1/2 weeks of LS, what Indian staff said the spices they use are mildly toxic so newbies are not used to it. What they put the yogurt and spices on the same plate of biryani for instance. I usually put 1 part spice and 3 parts yogurt to counteract whatever nonsense in the spice. :D

UK is actually a great place to retire (countryside not London). but with more and more refugees that might change. Our relatives who live in the countryside have council houses near time which was unheard of years back.Crime rate also went up in the village.

This dude looks happy hahahaa

That's the wet part [grin]

Migration, run road, diaspora....

The other day, everyone came back in the family.

The U.S. Of A, the UK, the Canadians, the NZ, the Japan and the Singaporeans.

Really, everywhere, big family from old money.

You know what, those that migrated coped. Mee pok and what not are interesting novelties, not really missed. Conversation items actually.

What drove them to spread out is to find that silver lining that they wanted for themselves. Their own slice of the sky.

Come on 200 plus on NSHW, can top 50km kickass switchback anot? Grand Canyon is stupendous.

Nice to experience but overrated.

Singapore now is a great place for successful people, all in the family agree. For those trying to be successful, it's not so good, depending which side of the mountain you are climbing.

I mean multimillionaires can drive 458 or 911 in peace and safety. They can be assured they won't be jacked or molested. They can wander around without fear of kidnap. So SG is good for some people.

Money is the key.

Migrate to get your money and success. If you are a happy person, everywhere is ok.

Migration is for success and survival. Your personal decision.

Most of these family have residences in SG and does not discount returning here when their virility fades or when their progeny (my cousins) need to.

Live day by day.

For me, to emigrate is never an option. I have it good here. My children are brougt up here safely and healthily.

Yes, things are getting more expensive but which place does not? However, over here, things are pretty much under control. Cut away the luxury items like cars and things get very manageable.

Creature comforts, ammenities, medical facilities are all available nearby.

I would rather travel and stay at any places or countries for prolong period while experiencing the lifes and culture there. When tired, i will come home. No need to emmigrate. No need to reinvent the wheel.

I guess this is my best compromise. Of course the the determinant is $. Plenty of $.

Singapore is not substainable as a country in the long term.

We just hit SG50 and we are already in big trouble trying to substain the economy with huge population growth.

Can you imagine in 100-200 years time, with such a small land area, how can Singapore survive ? Increase the population to 20 million??? 30 million ??????

Its kind of sad to think that our next generations will be facing such consequences.

I will migrate without blinking an eye lit if i got finance and the resources to do it.

New Zealand will be my most ideal destination.

And of course.....migrate liao i will encourage my kids to came back spore as PR/FT. [smash]  [laugh]

What makes you think that Singapore needs to keep increasing the population to 20 or 30 million to survive ?  A smaller country\economy also can have its footing in the world.  The bigger population Singapore needs is to have a sizeable labour strength so as to compete and have a piece of the world economy pie, without which, will face a severe labour shortage and wages will be driven up artificially, and will lose competitiveness. People think of New Zealand of the tulip garden and country side, but what about the other side of the equation ?  Just to share, my aunt and her husband, both have no financial problem and are rich, migrated back from Netherland to Singapore, but I don't know the reason.  Point is, the grass is always greener than the other side.

There will be people who will succeed, and people who will not in an economy of opportunities.  If one hasn't even fight the war already thrown in the towel, how to even have any chance of success ?

I can't take Taiwan food too well. Too much meat with strong meat taste and little flavouring. Too little spices.

The steamed chicken is served cold. Rice not as nice as Thai rice IMO too.

Short stay fine but 2-3 months will start to miss our local food flavours.

Nobody mentioned migrating to Europe. Other than language being a main barrier for several of the countries, some parts of it is really great to live in as well. The roadside streams are crystal clear, roads and houses are well designed, and people are home lovers (some of the flowers of their potted plants as well as the flowers at their roadsides are lovelier than our best flowers here).

Even their cemeteries are amongst the loveliest parks I ever saw.

I will try to get my child to learn a third language (German or French) so next time have an additional career and residential option.

But for bringing up a family with strong focus on housing, education and security, Singapore is unbeatable especially if you are a Singaporean (my opinion only).

Population can only go up. Not down. With that comes the problem of ever increasing aged population to support as well.

With the lack of land I dont see how the popluation wont hit double figures in the near future.

In time singapore will become a place purely to earn a living. Social life will become non existance. No matter what, quality of life will always be better in nz as compare to sin. Money does represent something but is not everything in life.
