bro i agree must do some background checks on developer, but pls remember this is a Govt led tender project.

This is not some fly by night build to order crap in Jay Bee.

Most of the folks who bought the units relied on the government to be involved and to maintain some minimum standards. And i think this is a reasonavle expectation.

Otherwise what the hell is the govt's role here? Just sit back, select the lowest tender and collect tender fees and money?

Moral of the storey

Must always do background check on developer

Buy condo also the same, people don't blindly buy

They check and research which developer and the built quality is an important point of consideration

Compare here and there, what's the point?! :D

Only one outcome, and it's freaking narrow corridor! This is the outcome and its fixed!

Poor owners short changed and they will have to bear with these for min 5 years, and hope that they able to sell off ...

In the meantime, they will have to wait for the garmen committee to check with the developer... Probably get some peanuts back like $xx dollars vouchers...

Agree with you

Seriously I think no Singaporeans will want n poor Singaporeans who bought a unit would want to get out after 5 years n most likely willing to sell at a loss too

Then hor, guess who would come n buy cheap? These people won't mind because the condition n built is still better than where they come from

All public housing should just be built by hdeebee, drop all these fancy schemes or atlas housing concepts

Should go back to basics, keep housing affordable, built with quality for every citizen

& they should consider building bigger flats like last time, the size keep shrinking n quality of living drops too

They will tell you quality of living not dropping and size not shrinking because family unit smaller now.

Size of persons shrink? No, kids these days are much taller than previous generation.

Can the size of a double bed shrink? King size downgrade to queen size, they expect couples to be sleeping in single bed?

Can the size of toilet bowl shrink? Might as well sit on the PVC waste pipe directly and do business.

How much further can the apartment floor area shrink, before quality of life degrades?

These people are talking through their asses. [furious]

Aesthetic can accept. But things like fire safety how to accept?

Does it really meet bca requirements? If doesn't then how? Tear down and rebuilt?

How many of our MPs and policy makers live in HDB?

morally they should not stay in HDB. they should free it up for the poorer folks who need it

just like how government office also have to decentralize to free up prime CBD space

Looking at the corridor design is really eye sore...

But, the BCA or the SCDF rule also so vague... 1.2m... it did not spec whether for single side housing or double sided housing...

Even the designer of old rental HDB house, which is double sided, I stayed also use brain when designing... double side obviously required more than 1.2m...

It is not only the reason for SCDF for easy accessing... but also fire safely... the designer did not consider the amount of people escaping through the narrow corridor with the fastest time...

i think designer must be from China.... Why I say so is because, in China, when you buy a property, the lobby or the common walkway is shared among the number of households staying at that level... that why the designer bring their hometown idea in this project...

I really hope no people staying there borrow from Ah Long... just in case their runner set fire.. gone case liao... when everyone open gate to run for life... they have to play slalom run liao...

I think our ministars will ask:

Do you want to live in a small house with big corridors or a big house with a small corridor ?

There..settled.
