Guys just got a K&N filter and boy am I impressed. Passed on SS type becos I'm just not convinced. Anyway K&N even made filters for apaches used in the Gulf war. Would like to find out when do we need to wash the filter? K&N stickers says 50000 miles.....sure can be that long? Remember some ppl here say 30000Kms. What you ppl recommend?

Anyone ever used other cleaning solution to clean your K&N filter before. Just to share with you guys. I was cleaning my filter yesterday, noticed that the K&N cleaning solution was finished but oil still got a lot. So I bo chap...just used my shampoo to washing & everthing looks perfectly fine.... Don't dare to try something stronger like dish washing solution. Anyway, I think should be ok coz when they adverdised their product they always claim that it's tough on these & that. But Comes to cleaning it's so sensitive that we must use their KNN cleaning solution.

Does an Oil based filter fares better than cotton based and stainless steel drop-in air filter? It supposes to trap dirt better and yet provide higher flow than the 2. Please comment. Thank you. Regards,

as above? I intend to insualte the stock air filter box so that it won't be easily heated up by the engine bay. Any recommendations what materials, and what to get and the cost as well?

hi.. juz got my first car.. a '98 pajero mini XRii manual.. popped open the bonnet and saw this thing which i perceived to be an airfilter from MUGEN. or so that's wat stated on the thing.. does anyone know if i can change it to a K&N one or should i stick wif this? if wanna change, where do i go to and how much will it cost? will the workshop/mech install it for me cos i know nuts.. thanks, james

Are there any of you bros who have open-pod or drop-in or cone air filters on their starlets? Do share your experience, pros, cons, importantly the costs involved (long term / short term). Am planning to change my 'millenium falcon' but need some advise.

Guys, Anyone heard of such item called the Charcoal air-con filters? If you know, do advise me where can I get it cos thinking to put into my car to prevent odour from the air-con caused by the building up of bacteria and mould from the air-con.

hi to any one using stainless steel filters.. eg hurrican , simota, etc. my ride is lower. then using a drop-in stainless steel filter. with CAI to the bottom facing front beside the radiator, slightly forward. so problem is before the filter i then to get a bit sand in filter box. after the filter its look clean but use ur hand to wipe. its with v fine sandy feel... with tissue can see dirt. when using stock paper theres non.... been told when place CAI low. will get this problem. is it true? should i relocate higher? but higher no hole to draw cold air... defead the pupose rite?unless higher then facing down?

sorry folks, long time no post... didnt expect to still see so many familar nicks in here! thought all of you have gone over to TeamChevySg!! well, this is my formal goodbye to my aveo.... i am selling it to change to what most married men in sg drive... a toyota. anyhow, have some parts and accessories with me which i thought some of u guys may be interested in. i spent good money for them and dont want them to go to waste by giving to the car dealer. so if there is any bro or sis out there who are interested, we can do a swap ie. swap stock equipments for after-mkt parts (plus a little cash top-up for certain items); geniune GM parts for your next servicing in exchange for a small token payment. mods, no, i am not hawking for business or whatever, just thought of getting rid of those extra items i have and benefitting fellow chevians. -
Did my first cleaning of my K&N filter last week. I've oiled the filter yesterday according to the instruction manual. However, only one side of the filter has visible oil or seemed to be tainted with oil. The instruction manual stated that both sides should appear red. I didn't manage to get this effect even after oiling on the same side twice (manual specifically said DO NOT Oil TWICE). I'm worried too much oil might affect the MAF sensor and too little would render the filter not as effective. I oiled the other side of the filter today. No dripping of oil on either side and both side doesn't to be oiled excessively? Any advise on how the oiling should be performed to get it done correctly? Thanks.
