During its recent Annual General Meeting, Volkswagen teased us with a digital the interior of the new Golf but now spy photographers can show us the real thing. As published by Carscoops, the Golf's interior is very different from today's model. Adopting a minimalist interior like most of the newer cars today, the dash features two large screen, one as the instrumental cluster and one for the infotainment system. A third smaller screen seemed to have been placed in between the aircon vents to display the climate control's status. Elsewhere, we can see a new steering wheel and new door panels with aluminum trim. The new car is set to be revealed in October and according to the German company, the car will once again “set the benchmark in the compact class.” In particular, they said the car will have class-leading comfort and connectivity as well as good fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions. They will be available with mild- and plug-in hybrid variants and the plug-in hybrid models will be able to travel up to 80 km on electricity alone.

Honda has released a preview illustration of the next generation Honda Civic, which is set to be unveiled in concept form at Detroit during the 2011 North American International Auto Show in January. The design sketch shows a sleek and aerodynamic profile strongly resembling the Honda CR-Z. Although this sketch is showing what appears to be a three-door hatchback, prototypes of the Civic sedan version have been previously spied. There are no details regarding the engine options, but previous reports have indicated that the Civic may receive a new petrol and diesel power plants. Start eating ice cream outdoor, bbq, going suntan at sunny beaches &.....taking photography of my ride. *note: Strong sunlight is damaging to your skin, & don't go outdoor without some sort of sun protection* Anyway, nonsense aside, Much have change since I shoot my car back in Spring (March), but while waiting to find a new location for the summer shoots, I took these preview pictures after my carwash session, to get a feel of the various angles The background is a bit distracting, as it was taken on a multi storey carpark. Since the introduction of the third-generation Impreza, Subaru has been making incremental improvements to the rally-bred WRX, first with a significant bump in output for the 2009 MY and now the adoption of the STI's widebody design for 2011. And not only does the five-door model benefit from its pumped-up sibling's sheetmetal, but the sedan gets a much-needed testosterone injection to boot. With a 1.5 inch-wider track front and rear, the 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX's stance is decidedly more aggressive, and with firmer rear subframe bushings pulled from the STI and wider 17x8-inch wheels wrapped in 235/45R17 rubber, the 2011 'Rex is assuredly stickier than its predecessor. The cosmetic mods don't end with the widened fenders, as the front fascia receives a restylized front lip spoiler, partnered with a larger, blacked-out grille and intakes. The whole package only increases the curb weight of the WRX by 34 pounds, and coupled with the "265-horsepower" turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four, the 2011 WRX has the goods to back up its looks... no matter which body-style you choose

Lotus has just formally introduced a new 400-plus horsepower sportscar concept. That news in and of itself would be enough to pique our interest, but the rest of the car's spec sheet makes the Evora 414E Hybrid an astonishingly intriguing concept vehicle. As you surely surmised by now, this two-seat sportster is a hybrid, specifically an extended-range electric vehicle that features a pair of rear-mounted electric motors and a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gas-powered engine. Why not fully electric? According to Lotus: With regard to the total lifetime CO2 emissions of the vehicle, including the energy required to manufacture and run it, the range extender solution has a lower overall CO2 footprint than a fully electric car of comparable performance and operating range running with a larger battery. That 47-horsepower gasoline engine never actually sends power directly to the Evora 414E Hybrid's wheels. Instead

The Mercedes-Benz F800 Style concept car that'll debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month is highly-touted by Mercedes-benz's press release scribes for its green-car tech, but what's probably of greater interest to most of you is its styling, which is everyone's first peek at what the next-generation CLS-Class sedan is going to look like. To that end, get ready for a nose section whose grille apes that of the SLS AMG, plus enough flame-surfaced bodywork to make one envision Chris Bangle, sporting a set of Groucho glasses to mask his true identity, clandestinely moonlighting at Benz. The rear doors are sliders, because it's a concept, and you need to give the people a clear view into the swoopy, sci-fi passenger cabin. Props to Mercedes PR for gamely making it sound as if there's an actual practical application for those doors, though (see the attached press release). Mercedes-Benz also touts the concept's flexible powertrain platform. The realistic option is a plug-in hybrid system that's basically an offshoot of the V6 light-hybrid setup found in the S400 sedan. Mercedes says this new plug-in gas-electric system, which is good for over 400 combined horsepower, gives the car an EV-only driving range of 18 miles. The automaker has announced that a new plug-in system is headed to the next-gen S-Class, so don't dismiss the F800's hybrid setup as trendy green pandering. Save that cynicism for the concept's other powertrain option: a compact fuel cell/electric setup evolved from the one used in the current F-Cell cars. We have no doubt that the technology itself is genuinely impressive, and we're sure news of its development will be a hit with all the jet-setters at the next snowbound climate change conference. From a mass-production, real-person's-car standpoint, expect to see the fuel cell system in Benz showrooms right after Mercedes intros a 700-horsepower inline 3-cylinder that runs on unicorn milk. Alas, we digress. The F800 concept also introduces two new technologies that will doubtless appear in upcoming models. Distronic Plus Traffic Jam Assistant is an enhanced version of Mercedes' active cruise control system, which can now steer the car through curves as long as it's traveling under 25 mph. Neat. Also new is the Pre-Safe 360-degree system, which expands the existing Pre-Safe collision detection/mitigation system to the rear of the car. Now, if Pre-Safe senses that a rear-end impact is imminent, it'll apply the brakes in a bid to keep the car from getting into an additional chain-reaction accident involving other cars or pedestrians. We'll be in Geneva to see the sheet come off the Mercedes-Benz F800 Style in person, and will have plenty of firsthand observations and live photos then. Hi folks. After a lengthy wait, I finally got my greasy hands on a N95 8GB prototype. It's a "build-4" version. There will be one more "build-5" version before the final CE is released, so it's pretty near to what you'll get in the shops. The N95 8GB is nearly identical to the regular N95 except for a few things: 1) Bigger screen 2) 8GB built-in memory 3) Revised user interface 4) No more slider to turn on the camera 5) AGPS (Assisted GPS) which basically means the GPS is faster 6) It's black Here's an all round view of the phone: Front view Back view Left side view Right side view Top view Bottom view Here are a few pics of the N95 and the N95 8GB side by side. In real life, the N95 8GB is actually very slightly smaller than the N95. Weight is almost identical (128g vs 124g). As the hardware/software is almost identical, I won't go through the functions/protocols of the phone as everyone would already know them well by now. I'll just point out a few things that I feel are the biggest differences between the 2 devices. 1) Build quality - the N95 8GB seems to be a lot better built than the N95. It's like the difference between the interior fittings of a Hyundai accent and a Mercedes E class. All the keys now feel very well damped. They are very pleasant to press on and gives you a feeling of "expensiveness". My prototype I received is a well-used one from Europe. When I got it, it still had many pictures of the previous owner which were mostly of his ski trip in Sweden, so I know it's been properly used. It still feels tight. The wobbly feeling which is typical of a used N95 is absent. When you press on the keys, it's tight and has no unnecessary movement. 2) The screen - it's noticeably larger and is more pleasant to look at. Brightness and resolution are better too. It's supposed to have a better graphics processor, as expected of the new screen. 3) User-interface - a few things are different. Instead of 6 active standby icons, the N95 8GB can now squeeze one more icon across the screen, making it 7 active standby icons in total. The search function is permanently active on the desktop. At first it irritated me, but I soon realised that it's fantastic. It's extremely easy to look for stuff now, necessary when you have 8GB of memory at your disposal. It works similarly to the "Finder" of Apple's Tiger interface. I love it! 4) It plays N-gage format games. My set came loaded with a few demo N-gage games and although I'm not a gamer, they felt fantastic to play. The graphics are seriously nice. Here are a couple of pictures I took of the screen with just my digital camera. You can imagine how good it looks in real life! 5) No more tacky BLUE lights! They are now cool white, which I feel look so much better. 6) No more customisable multi-media menu. BOO! In the N95, the multi-media menu is fully customisable. You can add any application to it and select the application you want by just rotating around the menu. No more. Press the muti-media menu key on the N95 8GB and all you'll see is this: You cannot add anything to it, which I find to be quite pointless in having the menu now. In the multi-media menu, the sub menus include "Gallery", "Music", Videos", "Games", "Contacts", "Internet" and "Maps". Within these sun menus are convenient shortcuts which are good for the specific application. This is all well and good for those particular applications that are included. But what if I want to include "Bluetooth" or "Clock" or "Converter" or whatever else I want in this menu that I find I use all the time? There's no way to to do it. A big step backwards in my opinion. 7) The slider that turns on/off the camera is gone. Some people might protest, but I really don't miss it at all. The camera in the N95 always gets accidentally turned on but in the N95 8GB, this won't happen anymore. To turn on the camera, simply do a long press on the shutter button. Simple, effective and not prone to accidental activation. 8) The battery is of a higher rating. Although mine came with a N95 battery (BL-5F), the production N95 8GB will come with a better 1200mA BL-6F battery. Hopefully, this will help in providing better battery life than the N95. 9) No more memory card slot. No big deal as you plenty built-in. After 6 hours of use, that's all I can think of. Generally speaking, it's a nicer device to use. Whether it's worth upgrading to from a N95, it really depends on what's important to you. If you value a more refined user interface, much more memory, bigger screen real estate, faster GPS and probably better battery life, go for it. Functionally they are virtually the same. There's nothing you can't do with a N95 that the N95 8GB can, except of course carry a huge amount of data. I'll update again if I have any additional thoughts.

If you compare the two using the galleries below, you'll see that the Kuga's roofline is a smidge less aggressive, which makes for happy backseat passengers. The production car will even be available with the same 19" rollers featured on the concept. As you can plainly see, the Kuga is an attractive blend of Ford Europe's "Kinetic Design" language and some other styling elements that we've seen become prevalent in a number of crossovers. We're talking mostly about that upswept D-pillar, which can be seen on everything from the Nissan Murano to the to the Toyota RAV4. The front end styling meshes beautifully with that of the Mondeo it'll be sharing showroom space with in the future. And the rear, while not terribly unique, is nicely done as well. The interior is better than anything you'll find in the US-market Escape, and yes, that shifter you see is connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox. A 134-horsepower (136 PS) turbodiesel lives under the bonnet, and both FWD and 4WD variants will be available. Like just about every other Ford of Europe product, we'd like to see the Kuga cross over to our side of the Atlantic. Compared to this, the Ford Escape is just lame. A concept car called Iosis will preview the next-generation Ford Mondeo at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Although this show car is a four-door, four-seat saloon, it will have a more coupe-like rear end and side profile than the current Mondeo, and it will give a taste for the final production car's styling, though Ford stresses that "it is not the precursor to a production model, rather an indicator of future trends." Four-seat interior features wipe-clean neoprene and leather-rubber compound Every car design project has to have a keyword and theme these days, and Ford's is "kinetic." Design director Martin Smith explains: "Ford products are acknowledged for their class-leading driving dynamics; our objective, quite simply, is to express this leadership in our design. We are calling this new language Ford 'kinetic' design, because we believe it expresses energy in motion." Smith has been tasked with overseeing the design of all of Ford's next-generation vehicles; he says that "the forms will be more distinctive and emotional, more athletic and muscular. Equally, we have to combine safety and dynamic performance and still keep the brand identity. The Iosis has great stance, it is powerful, assertive and confident, and it just cries out to be driven. That's kinetic design - energy in motion." Key features of the Iosis which typify this approach include its 'inverse trapezoidal' air intake below the front grille, a prominent wheel arch lip, small kinks in the C-pillar's outline which are reflected in the rocker panel, headlamps, bonnet profile and A-pillar, and the "cat's eye" taillights. Carbonfibre pivoting doors provide access The Iosis also incorporates angled, pivoting doors, made from lightweight carbonfibre, which give wide-opening apertures to the cabin by opening upwards and outwards, door-mounted and interior cameras which replace rear-view mirrors and an orange-themed cabin finished in materials including wipe-clean neoprene and a kinky-sounding leather-rubber compound. Its steering wheel is solid aluminium, covered with orange leather, and it has a starter button rather than a key-ignition, a LCD screen, an electronic parking brake and sequential-shift gearbox; its central instrument stack has docking points for memory sticks which can store driver data. The seats are constructed around visible ribcage-like frames of silver carbonfibre and aluminium, and the upholstery is finished in charcoal/graphite-coloured leather with a metallic effect. Of course, not all these features will make it into the production Mondeo - least of all the trick doors - but the Iosis clearly shows that Ford plans to thoroughly modernise the Mondeo range which, although mainstream and high-volume, will nonetheless be high-tech, well-equipped and state-of-the art in its styling.
