Have you ever encountered one of the worst nightmares a driver could ever have? No, I'm not talking about cyclists or saman aunty... I mean, dashing pedestrians! You may think I am kidding, but I am not joking. One wrong move from them, and you could easily become a murderer. See this example here: 297064227_415562567214847_4853208197817188327_n.mp4 That was close. I'm sure we all gasped in shock seeing the lady step out of nowhere like that. In case you missed it, here are extra snapshots I compiled: Nothing there. Or so we thought. And a split second later: Boo! The nastiest shock of the cam car driver's life! Thank God the cam car driver did not collide with the jaywalking pedestrian. It didn't stop there, however. Here's the worst part - the pedestrian did not learn her lesson. She stubbornly attempted to dash out onto the unsuspecting incoming traffic yet again... My goodness, can you believe the sheer foolhardiness? The utter audacity. Instead of learning her lesson, she blatantly ignored what had almost transpired and decided to charge back in🤦♂️ Netizens weigh in Many commentators had some choice words to say. Yes, we too, are speechless. I am betting this isn't her first rodeo. Unpopular Opinion: The presence of the bus indirectly contributed to the near-miss accident, but you should always check your blind spots, pedestrian or driver! Yes, this person said what we were all thinking. SMH! Being mindful all day keeps the hospital bills away! For pedestrians, if you don't want to: 1) get a fright; and 2) be scolded online like this pedestrian did, always look left and right before you cross! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. For years... the long and painful war against the tyrants of the roads... the cyclists... has dragged on and on. Eh, we tahan a lot already OK! Repeating instances like these make it so hard to like them, don't you agree? At a bustling junction at Potong Pasir (segueing into Serangoon Road), in the early evening when road users were making their way home after a tiring day at work--- a dashcam video was captured of this errant cyclist! Such misdeeds put onto record, laid out for the world to see. Take a look at the video, if you can bear the oncoming rage you will feel: 293790065_1041116233131622_7034219696884844264_n.mp4 Damn. If you didn't catch that, the lady cyclist basically: 1) Almost rammed into a taxi Here is a zoom in: 2) Then, continued cycling on her merry way, disregarding the flow of traffic, 3) Causing the owner of the dashcam to have to brake abruptly Goodness gracious me. Fuiyoh! All her actions speak volumes about her mindset and values. We don't like to nag so we will just let our favourite Doge meme express how we feel: Doesn't it just make you seethe? The utter callousness of the cyclist? I think I shook my head so much my neck now has a cramp. The court of public opinion As one might expect, the online commentators ripped into the cyclist viciously. No mercy given here, no! Top Fan No.1 took on a chiding and reprimanding tone. While we agree that not all cyclists act like her... It seems funny that 99.5% percent always seem to exhibit the same traits of road-hogging and dangerous riding that causes inconvenience to others. But ahem, we digress. Top Fan No.2 delivers his devastating, and well-put, critique too. Haha! That sure is one way of solving the problem. Show her the might of the car horn, brother! Lastly, saving the best for the last: Great question, Top Fan No.3 (Wow! What's with the sudden influx of Top fans? This article must have generated the ire of many) Cease and desist, please We're not saying some people should have their bikes away... We are totally saying they should have their bikes taken away. But is it so hard to practice good road safety and habits? One of the first fundamentals of driving we were taught was to always be aware of your surroundings. (PSA to cyclists: please don't do what she did. Just know, if you ever pull the same stunt she did, inside the cars they will be cursing you soundly.) What if a car had slammed into her? What if she had crashed into a vehicle she was not aware of? Hospital bills, workshop fees. The worst part for the others involved? It wouldn't have been their fault. An accident that could have been easily avoided. Don't play play, life is precious. Good road habits may very well be the difference in whether you make it home alive and in one piece... or in a blue SPF tent. As always, stay safe, readers! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!

A RAV4 attempts a lane change without the tact of checking its blind spot and sideswipes a C180 Coupe. It is unknown as to what extent were the damages for the Mercedes Benz but seeing as how both vehicles steered to the side of the road, I’m sure the drivers reached an amicable resolution to the matter. Watch the video for yourself here 287087999_995773451062318_8481438575448583312_n.mp4 Blindspot checking is a crucial component to driving given that it provides you with the visibility of spots that might not be able to be seen through your mirrors and helps to prevent the possibility of accidents like these. Therefore, driving tests include an addition of 4 demerit points if you fail to check your blind spot. Clearly, this driver has forgotten the memo, resulting in this tragic incident. Maybe he should take a refresher course. Online Comments It seems as if Netizens have also risen to comment that the driver taking the video has also failed to abide by correct traffic regulations by not switching on his headlights at night. Pretty obvious. Traffic rules should be strictly abided by, yes? no? maybe? leave your take in the comments below! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. I don't even know which is worse - the fact that the cyclist caused the collision or that he didn't check on the rider after the crash. In a video posted on Facebook just yesterday (29 March), an accident along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 shocks several netizens. In the video, the cam car driver merges towards the middle lane in the darkness of the morning hours. Despite it being a little after 6 in the morning, the dark roads were illuminated by streetlights and the cam car's headlights. Just up ahead, a cyclist on the outermost lane notices the cam car's presence and starts switching lanes. With his bicycle dancing between lanes, it became clear that the cyclist had recklessly switched lanes without checking. At this moment, a motorcycle travelling in the same lane came into view. Due to the cyclist's sudden lane change, the rider did not have enough time to react accordingly, resulting in a rather nasty collision. The impact threw the cyclist off his bicycle while the heavy motorcycle flew across the road. With his path blocked, the cam car slows down and stops beside the cyclist, who immediately stands up with his helmet and bag still intact and attached to his body. After dusting himself off, he gingerly walks to his mauled ride. While attempting to pick it up, the cyclist blocks the path of an oncoming white van. On the other hand, after being thrown off his own vehicle, the rider sits up as he surveys his surroundings. While it is not clear if there were any serious injuries, the rider remains seated for the rest of the video. Netizens' reactions The video shocked many netizens, most of whom could not believe that the cyclist did not check on the potentially injured rider after causing the reckless accident. Yes, there is a difference between making a little mistake and causing an accident that might kill you and others. Note: This comment was in response to the post's description, which reads "Careless cyclist did not check clear, filtered towards first lane and got hit by motorcyclist. Accident happened at Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 (Beside Gain City) at 0640H on 29 Mar 2022. Speedy recovery to both parties.". Even if the cyclist was in a state of shock, it is just disappointing to see this behaviour from him. Where did all of his compassion and empathy go? Although I don't subscribe to the feud between drivers and cyclists, I have to admit that this incident reflects the inadequacy of cyclists to ride safely on the road. Having strict regulations is not the answer when cyclists defy the rules that lay the foundation for a safe and peaceful drive. ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Not too sure what's the context of the video below but it's been circulating in car groups and WhatsApp chats since this morning. Asking for it In this short 20-second clip, a wrecked car with a popped-up bonnet ran headfirst into the rear of a stationary Honda Civic. According to online sources, this incident occurred at Midview City. Considering the number of repair shops located there, online chatter suggests that a workshop personnel was behind the wheel of that wrecked vehicle. Moments of convenience, hundreds (or thousands) of dollars in claims The real question here - Is it even legal to drive this wrecked car around at all? Although it may be a short distance to a nearby workshop within Midview City's compound, the car's condition suggests that it would have been unwise to drive it. Given its current state, it should be towed to the workshop directly. See lah, kay kiang drive this damaged car around, now kena accident. Some people might say that the Honda Civic should have parked his car at a proper parking lot instead of alongside the road. However, it may be ridiculous to attribute any fault to the Honda Civic for this silly accident. Regardless, I hope the Honda Civic's owner can claim for the damages. Netizens' comments Was it worth it tho?😪 HA HA HA. Don't anyhow bring in cyclists, it is a sensitive topic. There's not even a single bicycle in sight. All the best to the Civic driver. I hope the dashcam footage serves you well. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. This, kids, is why they kept telling us in driving school, don't abruptly cut in front of another motorist from the left, because the odds are they won't see you, and should it be a worst case scenario.... When everyone is at the lights, all seems well. The motorcycle on the left is a GrabFood rider, and he rides off straight. It is only after the GrabFood rider goes off a little in the distance, that the Malaysian motorcycle suddenly cuts in front of the Toyota Wish, who seems to not be wanting to turn but instead going straight. Now before you blame the Toyota for "why is he going straight in a turning lane", watch the video. The lane the Toyota is on can be used to turn right or go straight. Now, I am assuming the Toyota did not turn on his right signal, indicating that he didn't want to turn at the junction, he wanted to go straight. But as the light turns green, the Malaysian motorcycle just dandily cuts in from the left and right in front of the Toyota, giving the driver barely any time to react. No matter how hard you slam on your brakes, people, cars don't cut to an immediate stop like they do in cartoons. It's called physics. Now, I'm not pointing fingers at anybody, but I believe the Toyota didn't even realise that the motorcyclist was in front of him until it was too late. But really, the Malaysian motorcyclist should have known better than to cut in front of a car in such a carefree manner. Whether you're in JB or not, I don't think most drivers would expect a motorcycle to sudden appear in front of them and prepare to turn right as one is heading straight. Ultimately, let's just hope that everyone involved in the accident is all right. Rules, people. They exist for a reason.

Source: https://laughingsquid.com/system-that-eliminates-driver-blind-spots/ Alaina Gassler, a really industrious eighth-grader who lives in West Grove, Pennsylvania, created an ingenious system that essentially eliminates the treacherous blind spots that plague every driver on the road. Gassler’s system was built with a webcam, a 3D printed part and an LED screen that would create projections that gives the driver complete information about who is on the road with them and where they actually are within their line of sight. Many car accidents are caused by drivers not being able to see hazards due to blind spots. My prototype is designed to get rid of those blind spots by displaying an image of the area behind them onto the spot. I used a small projector as the displaying device and a webcam as the recording device. The webcam is mounted onto the outside of the car, and the projector displays the image only the A-pillar of the car. The Broadcom Foundation MASTERS (Math, Applied Science, Technology, and Engineering for Rising Stars) Program and the Society for Science & the Public awarded the 14 year old Gassler with the Samueli Foundation top prize of $25,000. Broadcom Foundation and Society for Science & the Public today announced that Alaina Gassler, 14, of West Grove, Pennsylvania, won the coveted $25,000 Samueli Foundation Prize, the top award in the Broadcom MASTERS®, the nation’s premier science and engineering competition for middle school students. The project was came about through the way Gassler’s mother drives. Alaina was inspired to create her device after seeing her mother struggle with blind spots in their family automobile. https://youtu.be/P2BQUxIuqG8

[extract] For those who drive, they are aware of a car's blind spots, and if you ride a motorcycle, you would know that being or passing through that blind spot could be scary at times. A motorcyclist would not know if the other motorist is aware of his or her presence. The side mirrors on our car, including the rear view mirror, does not offer much view in terms of blind spot areas and we often have to check for any passing motorists before we make a turn or switch to another lane. A university professor in the United States has found a solution to this problem with an invention of a mirror that literally eliminates the blind spot in a driver
