  1. Anyone know which arcade games centre which closes quite late????
  2. Been noticing this KF Seetoh giving more and more ridiculous suggestions. This is the PAP way style of offering solutions to crowd control, fixing congestions. Look at the newly opened Jewel. In order to "control crowd" you are expected to pay up to SGD 56 if you want to go 4 of the paid attractions. There are other ways to limit crowd. Reserving free ticket online first come first serve blahhhhhh. Then now there's peak period surcharge for hawker centres. Many of these people who patronize hawkers during lunch time even in CBDs are also people who are just drawing a decent salary just like you and me. Why punish these people? Founder of Makansutra? Super out of touch with the average Singaporean. No doubt overhead very high for hawkers. In fact I think they pay a darn ridiculous price just for rental, cleaning etc... KF Seetoh should campaign for lowering rental costs for hawkers instead of penalizing the consumers.
  3. Hey bros, need some ideas. Sick of the same old thing. my aim is to gather a list of major hawker centres WHERE there are good food for weekday lunch. 1) Kallang Airport 2) Amoy market 3) Duman Food centre 4) Marine Parade Food centre 5) Golden Mile FC 6) Maxwell market 7) Bedok Centre 8) Bedok South opposite TJC any others? Please note that i'm not asking to name all the hawker centres. I'm asking for those worth visiting for lunch Thanks!!!
  4. Nah Beh! Build 7 hawker centres need 5 years!?!?!!?!!??!! Kan boh standard!
  5. Was very surprised to discover that Chinatown Point has no carparks for shoppers after circling the areas four times. Apparently the place only has carpark space for the office tenants. Wonder if anyone else encountered this... And also to inform all here in case you need to go to Chinatown Point one day...don't end up in my situation...waste petrol, waste time, got hot under the collar ...
  6. Hi. My car inspection is coming round the corner. Kindly any bro/sis advise which centre is more lenient? JIC, STA or VICOM. Not that my car is heavily mod. Just wish to take the safer option. I stay in the west. Understand sometimes also depends on inspector at work. Just want to hear some good advise. Feel free. Thanks. My ride is 7 years old.
  7. From CNA: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1186918/1/.html 10 food centres awarded Blue Ribbon for going smoke-free By Sharon See | Posted: 04 March 2012 1910 hrs
  8. Anyone knows where is Nissan service centres in JB and KL city. I need to change front and rear bumpers and spoilers, straighten front horizontal bar, change LH rear lamp, LH rear view mirror with turning indicator, touch up dents and scratches, clean leather seats, replace one of the stock rims and respray the whole car and change white fog lamp to one with proper intensity for real fog and may be add some accessories or upgrade some parts. RM10k enough? Willing to leave car there for a few days, especially in KL. My car is 5+ years and with car prices going up, I need to keep my car till scrap.
  9. Life is about choices. A good govt will provide a range of choices for its pple so that the latter can choose based on affordability. Lets look at food. Way back, there were many hawkers centres, simple coffe shops round the corner to provide affordable, no-frills, and generally tasty food for day to day meals. For those who prefer a better ambience or aircon etc, they can go to restaurants or the few foodcourts around. Higher-end eateries were also availabe. Overall, the choices were wide and quite evenly spread out. The people had the choice in terms of price range or ambience etc. Today, the choices are limited as far as low-end food is concerned. The people, especially those who live on a relatively tight budget, or prefer to spend their money on other items in life, have to search high and low for affordable or value4money meals. The cause of this?.... Well, ever since some 30 years ago HDB has decided to stop building simple, comfortable no-frills hawkers centre (which usually come with low rentals and therefore cheaper food), and at the same time lease out coffee shops using the tender system (where highest bidders get to run the coffees shop and sublet the stalls), we see million dollars coffee shops mushrooming all over the place. The stall holders are forced to pay high rent to the head-leasees and have to recover costs by selling a simple plate of noodle at $3 or more instead of the previoius $2. Granted the costs of raw food/ingredients and power/water rates have gone up over the years, but the key and most significant cost is rental cost. It took pap a good 20 years or more to admit their promotion of expensive coffee shops and foodcourts may not be a good move and that it denies the ordinary people affordable daily meals. They'd better put up new no-frills hawker centres (but with good ventilation and lighting through decent designs), cut out the fancy decorations and seats/tables in 2-3 years (more than enough time to build as compared with casinos' construction) instead of 10 years. If miw really cares for the low- middle/low- income groups, they'd better show it with actons, otherwise its just mere cheap talk.
  10. Some shopping centres allow lorries, delivery vans to park and do delivery for FREE. What about small business owers who ferry goods to shops via a normal passenger car? There was a time my fren tried to drive in but the security guard said cannot despite showing him the delivery order. i find them too rigid...must a delivery vehicle be a VAN or LORRY?
  11. Hi, would like to try driving up the 2nd link to nearby johor. Is there any shopping centre around the johor 2nd link? thanks
  12. these days the government kept urging us to recycle, reuse and reduce to help protect and save the environment. am doing my part at home cutting down on electricity and paper usage. but i have alot of those glass bottles (example coffee bottles) at home. where can i find and drop off these glasswares for recycling? seen those categorized bins at IKEA and town, but curious where can heartlanders like myself find them.
  13. With the current topic of the escaped JI leader being HOT news all around the world, US security experts are relooking into how they should make the common tiolet bowl more secured in detention centres. From Guantanamo Bay to unspecified locations of US detention centres around the world, no escapee has ever attempted and succeeded to escaped, as what had happened in Sillypore....in what US official termed as a 'truly impossible feat'! Top research personnel are now relooking into how to revolutionise the common tiolet bowl in security centres to a level not seen since the humble bowl was first invented. Not wanting to sound as being desparate for a better solution, the experts are not putting off the idea that ppl should start to relook as to how cavemen first started to 'do his business' as they bluntly put it. Who knows they added..'we might have missed or removed something important thru the millions of years of evolution to the present modern day tiolet we know of!
  14. Hi guys Can we list down shopping centres where upon a minimum spending, you will get free car park coupon? I believe it will be very beneficial to all users here...
  15. Yesterday, parked my car at Bugis from 2 plus till around 11pm. Parking charge came out to be close to $10. Before that I thot the charge will be based on the following calculation: 1. 2pm to 5pm = $1.20 x 3hrs = $3.60 2. 5pm to 11pm = $2.00 per entry 3. Total = $5.60. But I think the charge becomes: $1.2 x 8hrs. So it means the charges are calculated based on the time you drive in the car?
  16. Has anyone done their servcing at Shell autoserv servicing centres? How's the price and workmanship? Do they specifically service certain makes of car? I'm driving a Kia Picanto, wonder if they carry OEM parts for Kia. Thanks for all your answers to my questions.
  17. I dunno if this is an isolated case but i dont think so....recently i had a problem with my car, jerky at the start and misfiring now and then. My car had clocked some mileage but a few clicks out of warranty so i send in my car to the AUTHORISED service centre as i believed they knew best... So the story goes... i brought the car in at about 10 am.....and waited till 6pm to get the car...called in a few times whilst wating and they said they are still troubleshooting and checking ...no problem i waited...so when it's time to collect i went and was told that the sensor was dirty due to filter ....and they have cleaned it and it's FOC ..so i was happy that things got solved and it's FOC .......till a week later the CEL came on again with even worse misfiring....i was pissed and tried to drive the coughing car to a nearby Shell station where i was greeted by a OLD OLD AH PEK ....first look i was skeptical and trying to Hokkienise my english description of what had happened ...and he took a look at my engine bay ....and started plugging out all my spark plug cable and tested ...one by one ...and within 12 mins he told me that my plug cables are damaged and worn... so he replaced it and within 30 mins DONE ...from then on my CEL never came on EVER ....So as i see it... AH PEK vs SERVICE CENTRE = 1-0
  18. Hi, Just curious to find out from you guys. Have you wonder why the centre teaches parking using the black and white guide poles? I understand way back it was the trend but now it seem like it's not really the most effective methods? They should fix up some fake car bumpers or whatever to simulate actual scenarios as to simulate vertical or parallel parking in between other vehicles. I believe most of us that passed from the centres have to spent sometimes to orientate ourselves to park in car parks or parallel lots without the guide poles. Guess they do that to squeeze more money from the trainees as when we pass the test , the sales personnel will approach us with the freshie driver orientation course that teaches us parking without poles and driving up multi-storey carparks and the course cost another couples bucks to register. Shouldn't this be include in the lessons? BTW, anyone have any comments to share or any effective methods for parking without the aid of guide poles. Cheerios
