  1. Dear Admin, We can see that there is very high interest in alternative fuel recently, particularly on the use of CNG. There are threads about Hybrid, HHO and latest EURO IV diesel too. We see CNG topics in General car discussion, in performance forum and even in Skoda forum. They are here and there and infact everywhere. I'm of the suggestion to setup a forum specifically for the discussion of alernative fuel. It will facilitate the exchanges of view of alernative fuel than to see them everywhere in MCF. Kindly consider the suggestion. Thank you very much. Regards,
  2. Hi everyone, Are there any website or forum that discusses about Singapore PR Application? I just received a letter from ICA that my wife's (who is from PRC) application for PR has been rejected only after submitting the application 2 months ago. Very sian becos it is siong psychologically for her to just stay at the home and not able to work to contribute to the family.... considering the fact that both of us are university grad. Really appreciate if someone can point out a good forum to discuss and enquire about this issue. Thanks ahead!
  3. ...during the fasting month, this is happening <_< Non-muslims are instructed to have their meals in the restrooms as a form of respect for the majority fasting I find it really preposterous and sad! for that, I am glad, that we have and practice multi-racialism here. [shakehead] I recall, there was a case here, that the principal asked the canteen to be halal and no pork to be brought in by the other races. Never heard of the case since! Again, reminders, keep to the topic and how would you feel as a parent if your kid was treated like this?
  4. If married, would you actually want a kid in singapore, not at all, or overseas? for myself, i wont want kids AT ALL. simply put, the money used to bring the kid up is
  5. and we are now 'learning from HK' on the urban planning matter. are we not capable, have we too many undesired flops? or we are well on top of our game? or neither? --- Senior civil servants to discuss population and healthcare issues with Hong Kong counterparts Singapore Permanent Secretaries are in Hong Kong SAR from 5 to 6 November 2012 to discuss population, ageing and healthcare issues. This is the fourth year public sector leaders from the two Civil Services are meeting to exchange views and experiences on issues of mutual interest. Leading the six-member Singapore delegation is Mr Peter Ong, Head of the Singapore Civil Service. The delegation will be hosted by Mr Raymond Wong, Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service and the programme will involve engagements with 11 Hong Kong Permanent Secretaries and other senior officials. During their visit, the Singapore delegation will call on Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary for Administration and Mr Paul Tang, Secretary for the Civil Service. They will also be visiting the City Gallery to learn about Hong Kong

  7. This is something I heard b4 few years back. Many cars park illegally along the side of a road. A driver drive along the road and brushed into a few of those parked cars. Owners of those illegally parked cars confront the driver who knocked into their cars. The driver happens to be some big shot and refused to exchange particulars with those car owners. The driver instead calls in his lawyer, because he feels that he do not need to compensate those damaged parked cars, because they are parked illegally. After that I don't know what happen. So my question is, that driver got a case or not huh? Can he win in court and no need to pay the other car owners? Just because they all are illegally parked?
  8. Hi, seeing how traffic is already bad and probably not going to get much better, especially traffic towards the business centers like CBD, etc, let's brainstorm on how to improve traffic situation in Singapore. My own opinion, which may not be a good idea but open for discussion, is that Singapore is so bloody small, so why must we designate like residential area (housing+malls) and business areas (CBD, Tampines, Business Parks, etc)? Why can't they just treat the whole of Singapore as a metopolis and allow big tall office buildings to be errected everywhere, maybe with the criteria that must be close to MRT stations. So eg, office buildings near every station that currently no office building nearby, just sell one plot of land near each station for erecting a couple of office buildings, instead of reserve everything for flats/condo/malls/shops. I do see offices at Toa Payoh, Bishan, Tampines, but I feel is not enough. Wouldn't this disperse out the businesses and traffic? And also make more people switch to use public transport or even walk to work? Of cos, I am not a qualified city planner, only played SimCity when young, so i won't know the issues and obstacles that comes with my idea, maybe by spreading will make more difficult for businesses to operate or other cons or devalue the CBD properties badly or inflat HDB prices etc?
  9. Hey forum mates, E200 Kompressor is actually a 1800cc engine churning out a respectable 184bhp. this figure is even higher than honda's 2.0litre civic Si engine and BMW 523's 176bhp engine(2500cc). 1) I realized that the word Kompressor is only written on E200. Does that mean that variants like the previous E240, E230 don't have the Kompressor feature? 2) Everything else, for instance, servicing interval, durability, remains the same as a normal engine, so does that mean that this is the future of engines especially in SG context where road tax is based on engine capacity? What are the disadvantages? 3) Mind sharing how the Kompressor function works in layman terms? Does it behave like a supercharger? Thanks
  10. Petrol going to increase by 7cents soon. (Caltex increased today at 10am). Whats your FC of your beloved Starlet? Usually I pump Caltex Silver and I am getting like 440km/30L. Mainly travelling on Expressway (SLE -> BKE ->PLE) to and fro... The rate the petrol is increasing is

  12. Greetings to all fellow Altis owners, Just checking with you guys again. My car got 2 annoyance which I am very unhappy with. Service engineers claim that it's normal so I just want to check if it really is common in all Altises. 1. Foul Aircon Smell - This I understand is "normal"... but anyway to get rid of it permanently? 2. Loud ticking sound from undercarriage after driving - Exiting my park vehicle after driving I can hear like metalic sound ticking from the undercarriage. Something to do with the thermal contraction from the metal parts under the car as the Service Engineer claimed. Do your cars have similar issues too?
