  1. I see many bros here like to talk about China history. Lets discuss here.
  2. Hi all, Fish is perceived as a healthy source of protein (Omega). My current maid told me his ex-employer in Hong Kong is a fish lover and wanted fish for every meal if they are eating at home. Do you eat fish everyday? I thought this is a good idea and seriously thinking about buying more fish in the near future. What are the fish that are known for a nice steamed dish? I'm sure there are both cheaper one and the more exotic one. Any lobang for reasonable priced fishes around? Fish guru, please advise. Thank you very much. Regards,
  3. After the recent BOMB saga, we cannot rule out more bombs will be found underground in SGP, or even near where we work / live / play. While SAF / SPF / SCDF and what nots are still defending / searching for the best ways to safeguard the safety of we peasants and cover their asz, maybe we should do something ourselves to protect ourselves instead of sitting there like, whatelse, sitting ducks. In the true spirit of self-help, my family has decided to setup our own bomb disposal team, and hope our neighbours will do the same asap as some of them have found some bombs during their morning walk just today!! My DIY homemade bomb-disposal crack team consists of.... only me ....... i had just conducted the team's very first live-exercise right at home... to be precise, in my toilet. After the disposal was done, everyone at home was totally relieved except they complained that the smell from the bomb lingered on throughout breakfast.... But nothing beats doing something ourselve to make our home a safer place.......... please try it, you can do it at home!! Have a safe, though maybe smelly, day!!
  4. Last week I decided to sell all of my camera gear as I just couldn’t find the time to use it regularly. Here I had almost $3,500/- worth of camera and lenses that was just sitting in its dry cabinet. So I wrote a nice little description about the gear and posted to ebay, HWZ and gumtree. A couple of days later, I get a reply for the ad posted on gumtree. Buyer communicates via email asking for best price so that she can gift the camera to her brother in Malaysia. So I make her an offer, we negotiate and settle on a price. Now I buy a lot of new stuff online. But when I buy or sell second hand stuff, I prefer to deal with people here in SG as its easier to meet and you know who/what you’re dealing with. Now the girl says she’s on assignment outside of the country and that she will pay via paypal collect. Hmmm…. I have to raise a paypal invoice and money will be credited to my paypal account. Hmmm… I’m not happy about this but still, I only have to spend a couple of minutes creating a paypal invoice so what the heck! I did it and emailed her the invoice. Busy over the weekend so I read her reply only this morning. In it, she says that she has completed the payment and that I should send the tracking number so paypal can complete the transfer. [me: wait… what? I have to send my stuff and then paypal will transfer? uh uh] She also says she sent the funds to paypal account (prabhjot something@gmail) and that paypal’s service message might be in my inbox or spam folder [me: hmmm… who the fck is prabjot whatever? And why the fck should paypal messages be in my spam folder?] I check the spam folder and lo and behold, there’s a message with the email alias “[email protected]” [me: wtf? I pay for stuff using paypal and I’ve always got the messages in my inbox. Now its in spam. Doesn’t smell right] And then I notice the actual email ID used in sending the message. “[email protected]” [me: haha. Now why the fck would paypal use accountant.com domain to send messages] Lol, they even have a small "how do you know this is not a fake email" disclaimer :D So I google the email ID pp_service and sure enough, plenty of hits about people being conned out of their stuff by peeps in MY. The MO and address is the same; 1) reply to personal ads (mostly camera’s) on ebay/gumtree (seems gumtree being abused more) 2) try some token negotiation to instil confidence 3) get seller to send paypal invoice and promise to pay to paypal account for both the item and the shipping cost 4) send a bogus email claiming funds will be credited once paypal verifies evidence of shipment 5) disappear So guys beware when peddling/buying stuff online. Just for laugh, I sent this reply to "Kim" this morning;
  5. Getting ridiculous Hope she isnt local Stomp contributor Michelle was amazed by the sight of this casually-dressed woman calmly eating her breakfast on a display set of dining furniture at Ikea. The woman was seen eating from a plate of food while browsing her mobile phone. She related the sight: "Yesterday morning my husband and I went to IKEA for breakfast, and to shop for furniture for our new home. "You won't believe what we saw. A woman was having breakfast in the dining showroom. "She was even in her pyjamas! "What kind of people do we have nowadays? "You don't just waltz in and treat a place like your home, right? "Anyway, here's a video recording of it that my husband managed to take. "Super shameless."

  12. As age catches up, I realise that I am driving more sensibily and more patient on the road. The every hand wave `thank you' to those who gave way to me makes me feel even more so to be a responsible driver. Hey, I'm no angel too. I had my fair share of making mistakes on the road and irritating other road users with my irresponsible driving habits, just like many of us. Well, isn't it true that its always the fault of others and never yourself when it comes to road aggression? I feel that we should start to think of our habits on the road and what our actions may cause to others, especially when the holiday seasons are coming, drinking merrily and driving crazily. Its time to help each other make the roads safer and don't be the cause of accidents. Everyone has a family. Think for others please. If you are the cause, and if someone dies or seriously hurt, their family will be heartbroken, and you will regret forever. So, before you attempt another one of those bad habits, I hope your thoughts are out for the road users you are affecting. I like to start a list of bad habits most of us are guilty of and hey, maybe its a good idea that our New Year resolution is to change all that :) If you agree with me, please add to the list, anything that irritates you on the road. Hopefully all of us will be sensible and start thinking and responding positively on the road. Happy Driving!! The list of bad habits by motorists:- 1) road hogging 2) drivers who follow too closely behind 3) those who likes to swerve in and out, bloody dangerous! 4) fog lamp users (seriously, your cars dun look more macho, but more irritating) 5) those who likes to brake hard 6) those who likes to slow down near to an accident, and itself nearly causing an accident. 7) those who r lazy to put signal lights while turning on the second turning lane which is meant also for going straight 8) those who fails to stop when turning and allow pedestrians to cross the roads first. Major potential accident! 9) those who do not like to turn on headlights in covered carparks, but strangely turn them on at night haha. Honestly, most covered carparks are dimly lit, day or night. 10) those who likes to show off when there are ladies in their car... and they may not like it. Pls add to this list and share with everyone :)
  13. A light hearted remark with very serious undertones: The recent 9 quarters of property prices run have made a lot of paper millionaires. Similarly there are many who committed buying those properties at peak prices. Those prices can only move down from now on. With recent govt announced measures to cool the market, it seems that it may just work. But inside this govt toolbox there are plenty of other measures they are waiting to use to engineer a slow drop in property prices. It is in thier best interest that properties do not appreciate thogh they may say otherwise. Singapore's polpulatio increase is mainly at the base of the pyramid, mostly low salaried workers. Even though the rich do come and snap up pricier ones, their numbers pale to the widening base. Therefore the means would still hover around the same prices....no change. In the past I have posted that many WILL get their burnt. Many are. They are now stuck with properties they cannot dispose of. And like the share market, there will be some stubborn ones who die-die will hold on in the hope of a rebound. They just lack the balls to cut loss and move on. Otherwise they are in the rut for a long long time. Cannot move ...cannot do anything...life stops. But in the end they will selll at a huge loss because they have not discipline in making the right decisions early. I have advised those that I know of to make those quick decisions. It is better to have a smaller place that is fully paid up than a bigger one which continnues to incur mortgage which becoming depreciating assets. It is also better to cut and run and be able to take further participation when the market moves again as compared to being held ransom to the knowing threat of dropping prices. In a years time, lets see who is left holding the baby. Will it be you?

  16. hahaha...how true.. http://www.divaasia.com/article/6037 Thu, Nov 12, 2009 Reuters If he lets you buy his underpants, you're "The One" by Paul Casciato The poll by British retailer Debenhams showed that men normally leave the purchasing of their underwear to their mothers until about the age of 19, relatively late when compared to women, who start buying their own knickers around 13. Between the ages of 19 and 23, men tend to buy their own underwear, up to 31 pairs a year in the belief that wearing new underpants is an essential prerequisite to a relationship. Buying declines gradually to zero between 23 and 33, because most men are in stable relationships and leave the shopping to their partners, unless they are still on the prowl. "Our research shows that you can tell when a man is looking for a partner by the number of new underpants they buy for themselves," said Debenhams Head of Men's Accessories Buying, Rob Faucherand. "If he buys more than 31 pairs every year then he's either still trying desperately to impress the woman in his life -- or else she's not The One." However, Faucherand said that if your man seldom goes to the underwear section on his own, and instead assumes that you will choose for him, then you can be certain that your relationship is in a very stable phase. The survey also reveals that underwear-buying among men picks up again briefly between the ages of 38 and 40, when some men are going through relationship break-ups and seeking new partners again. The incidence of this new-found purchasing enthusiasm is short-lived however. It goes into a sharp decline and slumps to zero again at the age of 44 when men mostly find themselves in another stable relationship. After 44, most men remain strangers to the underwear department for the rest of their lives, handing all responsibility for their underwear to women, Debenhams said. "This is the one issue that feminism has never addressed," Faucherand said. "It's not who wears the pants in each household -- it's who has to buy them that counts." (Reporting by Paul Casciato, Editing by Steve Addison)

  18. Hi all, Do you believe in anticancer and antioxidants traits in vegetables, particularly Broccoli, Asparagus, carrots and Tomato? What are the vegetables that you consumed that have such properties? Do you only buy certain type of vegetables for domestic consumption? For me, we usually have broocoli and carrots at home daily. Please share. Thank you very much. Regards,
  19. Based on my observation, when markert underperformed or during a market slowdown, Korean cars typically sell well. Remember the period where you see influx of Matrix and Sonata on the road? This accounts for their existence in the Top places in car sales chart. On the other hand When market is generally doing well, you see less of them and their sales actually tumbled. At high time, PIs flushished with the sales of more Japanese imports and someone came out to condem the existence of PIs in Singapore. The black horse, the Made in China, also once claimed to sell 100 QQ on a single day. This is a period where we see more ERPs, road tax reduction, rebate for CNG car, increasing quota and increase in car demand. With recession and less jobs going around the market, are we seeing a repeat of Korean cars coming to top the chart? On the other hand, MIC, which is partially affected by the notorious poison milk case, might have shaken consumer confidence. Hence, unlikly to fight the Korean. Potential MIC buyers are cost concious lot hence may probably give up the idea and stick to BMW for now. For the premium sector, typically represented by high-end conti brands, we are seeing a trend of ADs offering overtrade package to attract the buyers. With COE at it all times low, are we seeing more rich people changing to even newer conti? In all due regards, this has never been a better time for 1st time car buyers and those who are not currently holding onto an existing car. Again with Banks becoming more concious in car loan, this may keep the purchases at bay. What do you think? Thank you. Regards,

  21. 1. Instead of saying so much about how local car magazines CMI, why not we put into action and tell them what should a more meaningful test review be? 2. I've the following suggestions (not in order of importance): a) Spaciousness You often see magazines mentioned how spaciousness the car is, but there is no benchmark nor somethings that they measured against with. They should have something to tell us how spacious is the cabin rather than based on technical specifications, for example: b) Fuel economy Instead of relying on manufacturers' data, they should be doing their own tests instead, for example: c) For road performance, again, instead of relying on manufacturers' data, do a 0-100km, 100-400km and etc. Run a few rounds and get an average result. d) For interior, Please take more photos rather than write more words. Meanhwile, try to compare the differences between new model with the ex-model. Don't talk about climate control like a big in-thing. e) Handling, Work harder and don't be lazy, go find a better place to do handling tests. Not just around a corner in an open space car park. Mention why a particular road or area is chosen for the test, explain what they want to achieve from the test. Testing rpm should be mentioned too. f) Pricing When a writer says a car is expensive, please mention why? are OMV, COE and etc included in the formula? g) NVM Go and invest in a NVM tester. Instead of saying how quiet a car is, use the tester to measure before pick-up, after pick-up, initial 60km/h and the next 100Km/h. h) Street Survey No harm taking a few comments from street survey or in the car showroom or expo. People may have different views and perception. Again be very clear what you want to ask them. 3. Please feel free to comment and add. Thank you very much. Regards,
  22. 1. Most wanted "dead or alive" terrorist - escaped from prison while pee-pee. The guards may be too distracted by his limping "leg" seen only when in high motion. 2. Increase GST from 5% to 7% - even thought a lousy no good third grade economist even agree that inflation will be rising and rising this year, 3. CBD, no stopping for taxis except for taxi stands - if this is the atitude the policy makers are proceeding, then perhaps we have to start singing.... all my bags are pack and I waiting to go...... I am leaving on a jetplane. 4. Freezing S&C chargers - they should be reducing these charges, why - there is economic of scale, MIW gahmen inject grant funds regularly, then why should public housing S&C charges be higher than some Condos, some more no security guards especially the gurkha types at River Valley 5. GIC investing in UBS and Citi - they could have bought it even cheaper NOW, prior to acquiring, Soros said it is a mistake and GIC will live to regret it, it is another round of CPF money lost and subsequently another round of milking the sillyporeans 6. Marina IR - in any which way you see it, it is still a gambling den (high class) - why the who ha about Duxton Road by Member of Parliment, Marina IR will soon be the largest Chicken Farm in Sillypore, those who want to apply dont bother because those participate in this forum have been banned, you dont see it does not mean it does not exist 7. 3/4 tank policy - should be reverse, thailand have no such policy, thais are free to parasite on Malaysian's cheap subsidized petrol, if sillypore is (claim) riches in South East Asia, why cant MIW subsized our petrol, even dont subsized remove a free percentage from the petrol tax would help every citizen especially during these trying times 8. If you want to check on ME (Private Investigator) - apply for permit first, why is law or the rule of the land apply differently for sillyporeans, if you want to check on us (common sillyporeans), shouldnt they need to apply for permit too (like police warrant), where is the safe guard of our privacy or human rights, even my rats at home have rat rights. 9.
