  1. Oh no. Hope the stores in Singapore will remain open for years. I think Toy R Us gave us many memories in our childhood and now to parents as new found memories. It's a pity if it shuts down. Toys 'R' Us Files For Bankruptcy, But Will Keep Stores Openhttps://www.forbes.com/sites/laurengensler/2017/09/19/toys-r-us-bankruptcy/#4062f746574a Toys 'R' Us, the children's toy store struggling from a massive amount of debt and fierce online competition, has filed for bankruptcy. The retailer sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection late Monday evening in federal court, seeking a way out of the $5 billion in debt it has racked up. It said it would keep its 1,600 Toys 'R' Us and Babies 'R' Us stores open as normal heading into the busy holiday season. Toys 'R' Us has been crippled by debt since it was acquired by private equity firms KKR and Bain Capital, plus real estate company Vornado Realty Trust, in a $6.6 billion leveraged buyout in 2005. It had started the process of going public in 2010, but ultimately pulled the filing, citing "unfavorable market conditions." The company described the bankruptcy as a way to work with its creditors to get back on solid financial footing and invest in long-term growth in a difficult retail environment. "Today marks the dawn of a new era at Toys"R"Us where we expect that the financial constraints that have held us back will be addressed in a lasting and effective way," said CEO Dave Brandon in a statement. The company has received more than $3 billion in debtor-in-possession financing from J.P.Morgan Chase and other lenders, which will help it sustain operations during the bankruptcy process. Toys 'R' Us, which began as a single store for baby carriages and cribs in Washington, D.C. in 1948, quickly became a favorite destination for children's toys. In recent years, the big-box retailer snatched up competitors like FAO Schwarz and KB Toys, pursued international expansion and slashed prices in an effort to continue attracting shoppers to its colorful aisles. However, sales have slipped in the face of competition from giants like Amazon and Wal-Mart. In its latest quarter, same-store sales fell by 4.1%, helping the retailer to post losses of $164 million. While Toys 'R' Us said the "vast majority" of its stores are profitable, it will likely be reevaluating at its physical footprint during the bankruptcy process. Toys 'R' Us joins a parade of other retailers that have sought bankruptcy protection this year, including shoe store Payless and children's clothing retailer Gymboree. Many other retailers have aggressively closed stores and laid off employees, instead shifting resources to online capabilities.

  6. Saw Yahoo news report and was ..... hur ............ Yahoo news report : Hougang resident files court application for PM Lee to call by-election An Hougang resident has filed a high court application on Friday requesting the Prime Minister to call for a by-election in the ward within three months. The 42-year old part-time cleaner, Vellama D/O Marie Muthu, filed the application via her lawyer M Ravi. The application called for the grant of declaration that the Prime Minister does not possess the "unfettered discretion to decide when to announce by-elections in Hougang SMC and must do so within three months or within such reasonable time as this Honorable Court deems fit". The affidavit also stated the plaintiff be granted a mandatory order enjoining the prime minister to advise the president to issue a writ of election mandating by-elections in the single member constituency. Since Worker's Party's Yaw Shin Leong's expulsion from the party on 14 February over rumours of extra-marital affairs, the seat has been vacant. His seat was officially declared vacant on 28 February by the Speaker of Parliament after Yaw decided not to appeal the decision. Vellama is the sole breadwinner for her family of two daughters and an alcoholic husband deemed unfit for work. She is also supporting her 77-year old wheelchair bound mother and her 52-year old diabetic sister. All are dependent on her meager monthly salary of $300. She is receiving financial assistance from the Community Development Council (CDC). Vellama previously voted for Yaw and was seeking his assistance to help her family. She added that "I no longer have the opportunity to do that because Hougang does not have an MP". She expressed shock at PM Lee's response "that 'other issues on our national agenda' are more important than allowing me to exercise my right to elect a representative of my choice". Vellama said that her frustrations are borne out of the urgency for her problems to be addressed, and she feels like a "second class citizen" having to rely on other MPs at the moment. She had been experiencing difficulties paying her monthly mortgage installments and said the banks had threatened her with foreclosure. What now for the MP-less Hougang SMC? According to CNA, PM Lee said the day after Yaw's expulsion that there is no fixed time within which he must call for a by-election. He further said that there are other issues on the national agenda then. His statement was made before Budget 2012. Vellama questioned, "Why am I denied this opportunity? Why is it taking so long for the PM to decide on this? Why is it that the PM is even saying, as I am advised, that he even has the power not to call a by-election when he says to the media that he would consider carefully 'whether

  15. I'm using the portable harddisk to save files from other location in another office to my office own pc "C" drive. But error arises when I tried to save files from harddisk to my own pc, claiming "file name to long" & unable to view the files nor delete it off unless I saved the file to other path, then able to delete... I was told that this is due to MS problem but how to go about it as I always face problems whenever I had successfully pulled files & saved the works that I've done.. (I need to save back to other site since using different server) Hence, having the files to be saved at my own location is much more safer. For example : In another office server, file name as : abcdefghijklmnop... saved into portable harddisk successfully.. When tried to save this file into my office server, it prompted error in saving yet it was still transferred to the designated path.. Can't view nor delete.. Moved to desktop, deleted successfully. How come ya? And is there any way to solve this problem... any expert around...
