In October 2023, Stellantis took at 20% stake in Leapmotor China by injecting EUR 1.5 billion and forming a partnership to sell vehicles outside of China. Mainly because Stellantis was doing a lousy job themselves. The first Leapmotor model to go international is the C10 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). Leapmotor makes value for money rides and the C10 is no exception. It's a B&B focused mid-size (C-segment) electric SUV with an roomy and spacious interior (almost feels like D-segment). It comes with high standard equipment levels and tech. Check out the lidar on the roof. Europe was the first market to get the C10 and it became available in September 2024, together with the small hatchback T03. Closer to home, the C10 became available over the causeway in October 2024. In Malaysia, Stellantis and Leapmotor have signed a deal to assemble Leapmotor vehicles at Stellantis plant in Gurun, Kedah from the end of 2025. Which means it'll be coming to Singapore and the rest of the ASEAN markets in 2026. Kerb weight : 1,940 kg The exterior dimensions of the C10 are a good size and practical. This is a family friendly ride. Powertrain for the Leapmotor C10 is a single rear-axle motor (RWD!) that outputs 160kW and 320 Nm of torque. This is good enough to do the century sprint in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 170 km/h. If imported directly from Malaysia into Singapore, it'll be a Cat B ride. Hoping to see a de-tuned 110kW version to follow soon after - just like what Tesla did on the Model Y, BYD did for the Sealion 7, SAIC did on the MG S5EV and Chery did on the Omoda E5 / Jaecoo J6. The current 2025 model year has a 11kW AC onboard charger with a weak DC charging rate of 84kW to recharge its 69.9 kWh LFP (by CALB) battery from 30-80% in 30 minutes. C10's range is 424 km (WLTP). The interior like most China designed and made is bare bones. Inspired by Tesla, there are no physical buttons (boo-hooh!) to adjust for AC temperature and fan controls. Everything as to go through the large 14.6" infotainment screen - which is at least snappy and high resolution. Navigating it will get some getting used to and Leapmotor has some ways to go to improve the user interface. Infotainment on the Leapmotor C10 includes a 10.25" instrument panel displaying at 1920 x 720 resolution, along with a 14.6", high-definition central display offering 2560 x 1440 resolution. For audio, an 840W, 12-speaker system provides the music in surround sound. The deal breaker for most is the lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto due to the current Leap 3.0 platform. The C10 will require the next generation Leap 3.5 platform to have CarPlay and Android Auto. An NFC card provides access to the vehicle, unlocking is accomplished by tapping it on the top part of the driver’s side mirror. Additionally, the card has to be placed on the center console for the vehicle to be started. There's been reviewer complaints on this arrangement and the lack of mobile app support for locking/unlocking the ride. The ADAS system is quite poor with lots of bings and bongs to annoy one senseless. The generous exterior dimensions are carried over internally with a high efficiency layout. The interior is made of Leapmotor's Oeko-Tex silicone textile (i.e. fake leather) that's meant to be quite plush and supportive. It's also liquid resistant and baby friendly - so it's easy to clean. Can see this would appeal to those with young families. Back seats can easily accommodate two child seats with room in the middle for a small to medium adult. Rear seat dimensions are also quite generous - close to limousine size. The C10 comes with the obligatory panoramic sun roof and unlike some (looking at you Tesla) has a motorized sunshade to keep the hot Singapore sun out of the cabin. And the front seats can be folded flat - all due to the generous leg room at the back. At the boot is 435L of cargo space available with the rear seats in place, or up to 1,410L with the seats folded. In front, the frunk adds a further 32L of luggage capacity. Expecting Cycle and Carriage (C&C) to be the Authorized Dealer (AD) for Stallentis and will try to flog off the C10 here in Singapore. Will see what C&C price the upcoming C10 to be - hopefully not long to wait.

This is not another normal SUV / MPV... You are looking at the first large size EV from Skoda, with RWD setup! Skoda hasn’t built a rear-wheel-drive vehicle since the early 1990s when the 105/120/125 series of rear-engined RWD cars was discontinued to make way for the Favorit with the engine in the front driving the front wheels. The Mladá Boleslav marque is returning to its roots, but with an electric twist as the Enyaq iV will eschew the combustion engine for an electric motor. Riding on the same MEB platform as the forthcoming VW ID.4, the Enyaq will be a follow-up to the appealing Vision iV concept introduced about a year ago at the Geneva Motor Show. While it won’t look as exciting as the showcar before it, the electric vehicle should have some extra pizzazz compared to the firm’s conventionally powered SUVs, such as the Karoq or Kodiaq. One thing I’d like to add is that while the concept had some coupe influences, the production car will be more in the spirit of a tall wagon.

Hi all the i8 has been in the news for afew years and its nice to see a concept car that evolved into actual mass production. Below is the youtube video for your enjoyment. I wonder when it will hit our roads. Unlike the Tesla this is a hybrid petrol and electric car which mates a 1.5L 3cylinder engine with a electric battery which gives 350BHP combined and 0-100kph in 4.4 secs. Make no mistake. This isn't a simple tuned up version of the usual BMW 335i. In fact, it's far from it. This is an M3-rivaling fast saloon that can carry four up north in comfort at great speeds. And Alpina has done a great job with its new B3 Bi-turbo. Headline figures are 404bhp and 600Nm of torque from the 3.0-litre straight-six, which equals to a 100 more horses and 200Nm of more torque than the 335i This is achieved with the help of two smaller turbocharger, a larger intercooler, a better fuel pump and its own ECU. Why two turbochargers? Alpina says throttle response is much better and there is less turbo lag, which was what I felt. Coupled with the responsive ZF eight-speed automatic, the sprint to 100km/h is accomplished in a scant 4.2 seconds. On the road, the B3 is a great overtaking tool with all that torque. There is no question this is much faster than a 335i, especially when it achieves full boost. On that note, the turbo hiss is more noticeable now when driving hard. Alpinas have never been track cars and this is no different. The B3 is one smooth riding saloon considering that it is running on ultra low profile non-run flat tyres. Dampers are adjustable but in Comfort mode, body control is slightly lacking as the car can get upset by larger bumps. Sport mode improves things and with one of the finest steering for a saloon, hustling the car down your favourite road is a joy. Overall this is a well-rounded fast sedan. Some of you readers may argue that this is one expensive 3 Series but you do have to pay for the exclusivity. I cannot think of anything I dislike about the car other than wishing for a louder exhaust note, considering it bears the Akrapovic name. But then again, Alpinas aren't supposed to be shouty... Not letting the hype over the brilliant BRZ die down, Subaru came up with another variant of the sports coupe to let its fans stay happy. Named the BRZ Premium Sport Edition, it is supposed to be a more luxurious and refined version of the famed coupe. Sadly, not much has been done to increase the driving performance. But then, it is already such a wonderful driver’s car. What they did provide the car were black painted door mirrors and STi aluminium wheels exterior wise. Interestingly, they stuck with 17-inchers, which probably have the best grip/drift balance for the car. Interior wise, the car's seats and steering wheel are wrapped in brown and black leather with tan stitching on some details. The bright red STi push engine start button is a nice welcome too. Overall, this is a nice edition for the BRZ but we are pretty sure local buyers won’t be able to get their hands on it even though it might lure one or two buyers away from a Z4 or SLK.

The Jaguar F-Type. One of the most anticipated cars in 2013. I was keen to drive it after reading all the great reviews from other magazines. After getting behind the wheel, there's no doubt that the car is as brilliant as they say. Slotting in between the Boxster and the 911 Cabriolet, Jaguar gave it great handling and looks. Turn in is sharp and it rides firm on our roads when set up for attack. The 374bhp Supercharged V6 is no weakling. It pulls willingly to the red line and makes one hell of a lovely howl when you give it the beans. Bangs and cracklings from the exhaust come as standard from the factory. Awesome. Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Here are more photos of it… Many options for corner entry.. Traction out of corners is not the best, which also means its fun factor is high. Meaty steering with good weighting. Dynamic mode and the loud button for the exhaust should be on permanently! Cute little visor! Lovely wheels and brakes. Corners flat. The Lamborghini Cabrera spotted for the first time ever Earlier, about a week ago, I told you that the Lamborghini Cabrera was likely to make its appearance at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. Now, things are getting closer to reality. The supposedly long-awaited Gallardo replacement has finally been spotted for the first time ever and it has been attracting plenty of hype on the World Wide Web. The previously rumoured Lamborghini Cabrera Unlike what most people believed before, it seems that Italian automaker Lamborghini has changed its mind and that the Cabrera will no longer borrow styling cues from the Lamborghini Aventador. Judging from its front fascia from what I can see in the picture, the model is looks pretty similar to the current generation Lamborghini Gallardo. Yet, the bonnet feels rather long somehow, keeping in mind that the raging bull is supposed to carry a mid-mounted engine. It's also likely that the Cabrera will count on a 600bhp V10 engine mated to an AWD drivetrain and an automatic transmission. Oh, a RWD drivetrain may also show up later as a special edition, I believe. Sadly there isn't much else I can tell you for now since the super car isn't likely to be offered for sale for another two years anyway, so we still have plenty of time to find out more, don't we?

Mazda and Fiat to co-develop a rear wheel driven roadster

[extract] Back in November last year, Alfa Romeo (which is under the Fiat Group) is challenging, particularly at the Mazda MX-5, the rear wheel drive roadster market segment with a new generation Spider. But now it seems that things are going to change. The MX-5 will receive a sibling but it will not be a Mazda. Mazda Motor Corporation and Fiat Group Automobiles have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development and manufacturing of a new roadster for both companies- 1 comment
