The Lamborghini Huracán has already obtained 700 orders during a, as yet unfinished, month-long private preview tour worldwide for VIP clients. An excellent start for the heir to the best selling Lamborghini to date, the Gallardo. The Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 is powered by a 610-horsepower 5.2-litre normally-aspirated V10 engine, which allows it to reach a top speed of 325 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, placing it at the top of its segment. A candidate for 'star of the show' at Geneva Motor Show, it will be the first vehicle to be revealed at the exhibition, during a press conference given by President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann, scheduled for 8 a.m. on Tuesday March 4th, 2014. The presentation will contain innovative elements -- not just the video of the supercar shot over the last few days in Los Angeles, but also the reveal.

Lamborghini has released a new video that gives us our first look at the 2015 Huracán LP 610-4 in action. Miraculously, they manage to find an unguarded example of the new supercar complete with keys, and proceed to take it for a spirited drive full of drifting and donuts before a team of security guards brings the fun to an end. This is the Lamborghini Huracan, the replacement for the Gallardo supercar. After numerous spy shots and leaked images Lamborghini has taken the wraps off its baby supercar, which is set for a public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March before making its way to the UK in the autumn. Initial reports suggested the car would be called the Cabrera but Lamborghini has opted instead for Huracan LP 610-4. Like the Gallardo before it, the Huracan name derives from the world of bullfighting, with this particular breed known for its courage and sense of attack. The Huracan follows Lamborghini tradition with an audacious design full of sharp edges and defined creases. It adopts several Aventador styling cues such as the narrow triangular headlights and short bonnet. Viewed in profile, the Huracan is unmistakably Lamborghini, with the rear quarter getting similar upper and lower vents around the engine bay as the Murcielago. Based on an all-new aluminium chassis with structural carbon-fibre elements, the Huracan weighs 1,422kg and will share its platform with the second-generation Audi R8, due in 2015. Nestling behind the driver is an updated version of the 5.2-litre V10 engine delivering 601bhp at 8,250rpm, up from 552bhp in the Gallardo. The engine features new “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata” (IDS), direct and indirect gasoline injections which are smartly combined resulting in more power and torque with lower fuel consumption and emissions compared with the Gallardo V10 engine. From a standstill the Huracan will hit 100km/h in 3.2 seconds, and stops as well as it goes, too, thanks to carbon ceramic brakes fitted as standard. Despite the substantial increase in performance, economy has also improved to 9.6km/l while emissions are down from 351g/km to 290g/km. Replacing the clunky old automated manual gearbox is a new seven-speed dual-clutch ‘box delivering power to all four wheels. Three different driving modes – Strada, Sport and Corsa - can be selected from a steering wheel mounted selector – much like the Ferrari 458 Italia’s Manettino switch. Each mode alters the throttle response, traction control and ferocity of the gear changes. The Huracán will be produced at Lamborghini’s headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese on an entirely newly-equipped production line.

The replacement for the Lamborghini Gallardo will be called Huracan. The name, which means hurricane in Spanish, will adorn the new V10-powered supercar due to be unveiled later this month. Lamborghini was tipped to call the Gallardo successor the Cabrera, but sources has mentioned a strong possibility of the car being called Huracan instead. Lamborghini trademarked then name on April 19, 2012. The word was Mayan for the god of fire, wind and storms, and was then adopted by the Spanish to mean hurricane. The name was trademarked at the same time as Urus – the name for the firm’s SUV concept shown at the Beijing Motor Show in April 2012. The firm also registered Deimos, which hasn’t yet appeared on a car or concept, but could be used for the production version of the SUV, due in 2017. The Huracan is tipped to be powered by an updated version of the current naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox. The engine will develop around 600bhp. It’ll be built on a new aluminium spaceframe platform that will also underpin the next Audi R8 in 2015, albeit with different dimensions. Originally, both the Audi and Lamborghini were to use an updated version of the current R8’s platform. However, an insider told us that having driven the latest 991-generation Porsche 911 Turbo, Audi and Lamborghini engineers decided that a more radical solution would be required to reach the Porsche’s high level of dynamics. The Lamborghini’s design will be inspired by the Sesto Elemento, which debuted in 2010, while the starter button shown on the Huracan teaser website has a similar jet fighter-style flip-up starter button as the Aventador. The Huracan will go into production in the new year, and be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March. It has big shoes to fill – more examples of the Gallardo have been sold than any other Lamborghini, with 14,022 finding homes in its 10-year production run, which has just come to an end. -
I am sure most of us reading this love the Lamborghini Gallardo in a way or two. The owner of this particular Gallardo probably thought that loving it means turning it into one of the fastest production tuned car on earth. That means having more than 2,000bhp with the help of two huge turbochargers. Yes, that is no typing error. Unfortunately for him, his Underground Racing tuned Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera's V10 burst into flames instantly after crossing the finish line. Luckily for him, he safely got the car down to a standstill and escaped before anything bad happened. As seen in the video, the car looks pretty much fine other than the need to have a new engine block and some repainting. At least he broke the event’s top speed record by hitting 402km/h. That said, he is still pretty far away from the world record. The Lamborghini Cabrera spotted for the first time ever Earlier, about a week ago, I told you that the Lamborghini Cabrera was likely to make its appearance at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. Now, things are getting closer to reality. The supposedly long-awaited Gallardo replacement has finally been spotted for the first time ever and it has been attracting plenty of hype on the World Wide Web. The previously rumoured Lamborghini Cabrera Unlike what most people believed before, it seems that Italian automaker Lamborghini has changed its mind and that the Cabrera will no longer borrow styling cues from the Lamborghini Aventador. Judging from its front fascia from what I can see in the picture, the model is looks pretty similar to the current generation Lamborghini Gallardo. Yet, the bonnet feels rather long somehow, keeping in mind that the raging bull is supposed to carry a mid-mounted engine. It's also likely that the Cabrera will count on a 600bhp V10 engine mated to an AWD drivetrain and an automatic transmission. Oh, a RWD drivetrain may also show up later as a special edition, I believe. Sadly there isn't much else I can tell you for now since the super car isn't likely to be offered for sale for another two years anyway, so we still have plenty of time to find out more, don't we?

Although it was actually first rumoured back in March 2012, there has yet to be any more information regarding the supposedly successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo. To make matters worse, the Italian automaker only unveiled a Gallardo facelift last year when most car enthusiasts were actually expecting the next generation Gallardo. So, it was kind of like a prank from the raging bull. However, it seems that the long wait is about to be over. Pictures have emerged on the internet showing what is believed to be the Lamborghini Cabrera. Judging from the images, I believe they reveal the real deal. Looking at the images of the car, it reminds me of one of the latest models Lamborghini recently introduced to the public. Yes, the Cabrera borrows a lot of styling cues from the Aventador, from its front to the rear fascias. Rumour has it that the Lamborghini Cabrera will count on a V10 engine and that its four wheels will receive a total power output of 600bhp from the car's automatic transmission in addition to a dual clutch system. The latter is a new addition as the raging bull used to employ the single clutch E-Gear system. So, it seems like the long wait for the next generation Lamborghini Gallardo supercar is about to come to an end. What do you think?

Unfazed by the Eurozone debt crisis and the 'Fiscal Cliff' episode in the US, Lamborghini's sales in 2012 improved by 30% as compared to a year ago. In terms of absolute figure, the supercar brand moved 2,083 vehicles last year comprising of 922 units of the Aventador and 1,161 units of the Gallardo. Asia took up the largest portion of the sales pie, accounting for 35% of global sales. The China market itself already account for 15%. This should not come as a surprise as Asia continues to be at the forefront of wealth creation, minting millionaires at a faster pace than any other region in the world. Strong sales is only part of Lamborghini's success story. The company's turnover climbed 46% from EUR 322 million in 2011 to EUR 469 million in 2012. With the global economic climate looking brighter, the bull run looks set to continue in 2013.

The first images for the facelifted Gallardo Spyder are here, and it wears the similar trigonometry inspired face which does not fit well for the Spyder. Though personally I feel that the extremely sharp styling does not work as well as it did with the coupe. Maybe it's the colour or the camera angles, but perhaps its looks better in the flesh. Besides the folding soft top, the Spyder is essentially similar to its coupe sibling, which was revealed at the recently concluded Paris Motor Show. It wears a new set of two-tone 19-inch Apollo polished alloys and feature bigger air intakes ahead of the front rims. Like in the coupe the powertrain air outlet area is wider for improved thermodynamic efficiency. What do you guys think? Am I too harsh on the looks or do you think it will grow on us? -

At the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Lamborghini presented its most successful super sports car with a facelifted design. Lamborghini has given one more facelift before the all-new replacement arrives. Lamborghini presents the new Gallardo LP 560-4 and the LP 570-4 Edizione Tecnica at the Paris Motor Show. The new Gallardo LP 560-4 has a cosmetic upgrade while the Superleggera and the Spyder Performante, will be now renamed and offered as the Edizione Tecnica. The refreshed Gallardo models will be available at Lamborghini dealerships starting November 2012, while the rear wheel driven LP 550-2 'Valentino Balboni' Coupe and Spyder remain. The new Gallardo LP560-4 The new Gallardo LP 560-4 looks broader and more dominating, courtesy of a mathematical friendly triangle and trapezoid design language. Larger air intakes have been created ahead of the front wheels and the new 19-inch 'Apollo polished' alloy wheels, painted in matt black and featuring precision-machined spokes in polished silver. The air outlet for the powertrain in the rear has a wider surface area, to improve thermodynamic efficiency. The new Gallardo LP570-4 Edizione Tecnica Features of the Edizione Tecnica include the fixed rear wing, carbon-ceramic brakes that Lamborghini claims to combine low weight with remarkable fade resistance and durability. The power to weight ratio of the Edizione Tecnica is now an outstanding 2.35 kg/bhp. The Edizione Tecnica will be finished in exclusive colours where the entire roof arch and front air intakes are painted in a contrasting colour. The Toro project by DMC adds a little more power along with a new, lightweight styling kit that adds on to the already aggressive looks and performance of the Gallardo. DMC has worked on an ECU remap complemented by a new titanium sports exhaust system. These changes are good for an added 20hp for a total output of 580hp and 574Nm of torque from the 5.2-litre V10 engine. Top speed has also increased to 329km/h. The bodykit from DMC is purely made from carbon fiber. It includes a front spoiler and sword, side sills and skirts with side under diffuser, rear diffuser, rear spoiler and rear panel and side mirrors. Lamborghini cars will not feature turbocharged engines

The usage of turbocharged engines is getting pretty rife in the last decade or so. The main reasons for this are exhaust emission regulations and also the positive highway mileage that turbo-ed engines offer. Lamborghini is one automaker that has always used high displacement, naturally aspirated engines in their cars and they have no intentions to change that. During an interview with Autocar, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman mentioned that he does not see Lamborghini using turbocharged engines in this decade but he also said that it could happen in the near future. In addition, he stated that the future can take its own path when fuel regulations are involved and any development along those lines must be consistent with the DNA of Lamborghini. Winkelman added that the next generation Gallardo is set to be launched in around two years time and it should not come with a turbocharged engine. However, there are rumoured reports of Audi working with Bentley on a turbocharged V8 engine to be used in the next Audi R8 and the engine might be used on higher performance cars within the Volkswagen Group. Back in September last year, there was a news report about thirteen supercars impounded in British Columbia, Canada for their involvement in street racing. The drivers of these cars have to pay a $196 fine plus an impound fee. On top of that, they might get their driving license suspended. Apparently, an eye witness informed the local police about these drivers late night activities. Two of the cars would block off a stretch of a road and the rest would do the racing. Some of the drivers involved were students from an exclusive boarding school and some did not even have driving licenses. In Canada, there are strict laws regarding street racing and dangerous driving and if found guilty of these charges, the authorities have the right to confiscate the cars and sell them off.
