Leinad8919 Turbocharged June 19, 2015 Share June 19, 2015 exactly my point. . Those dumbfark cyclists are just as silly looking. Leotards or no leotards, the attire doesn't make the cyclist; just like cars do not make the drivers. This is how I looked on weekends... ↡ Advertisement
Submarine 1st Gear June 19, 2015 Share June 19, 2015 its friday ley.... chill la... this topic will never have ending one.. this argument talk until ad nauseam long ago...... Correct!! Discuss until cows come home also no conclusion, as drivers may want us cyclist to cycle on gym bikes and enjoy artificial wind from fans, we cyclist can also argue nuisance drivers to be off the road and be contented with car driving stimulator from Play Station coupled with air con (maybe with air refresher attached) blowing toward their faces. But will it happen in the real world? Let's learn to be understanding and tolerant to each other and follow the traffic rules as much as possible than there will be world peace.

It was a ridiculous suggestion! A while back someone in all seriousness suggested that joggers take a taxi to their desired jogging route rather than cross any roads or use the road shoulder for a short section (to get up Adam Road to the reservoir). All these discussions do is reveal how far Singapore still has to go to become a first world, tolerant society. I'm saddened by some drivers attitudes to cyclists. A cyclist has never delayed my total journey time in my car and I respect their right to safe passage, as I would any human being.
Pinobii Hypersonic June 19, 2015 Share June 19, 2015 TGIF guys.... Like I said before when I drive, I don't like reckless cyclists because I fear for their lives and I won't want to hurt them When I cycle, I don't like reckless n impatient drivers who come too close Since garmen mandates that cyclists must cycle on the road, drivers just be careful n patient Cyclist n drivers jointly share the responsibilities of keeping our roads safe Be safe! :)

It's very true but we must not become reckless in the process when meeting either rod hoggers or cyclists, it's dangerous for everyone Good night
ChickenMob 6th Gear June 20, 2015 Share June 20, 2015 had seen a LTA stopped a motorised bicycle at Boon Lay way yesterday for reckless riding weaving in and out of the peak hour traffic. time to keep these clowns out of the road.....a few cars had near missed with them.
Gizmore Supercharged June 20, 2015 Share June 20, 2015 Aiya, why all the brickering? Cyclist or drivers, we just need to adhere to the rule. Cyclists, don't be selfish and road hog in a group, observe all traffic rules. Drivers be more aware of cyclist, give way if cyclist are law abiding. Drivers really don't want to run down and kill any cyclist and likewise cyclists don't want to be killed. End of the day, both cyclists and drivers have one common goal in mind, to reach destination in one piece. If you wanna be selfish and have this I'm the king and therefore the whole world yield to you, then whatever consequences that comes..... it's really your call.
Lzmmcken 1st Gear June 22, 2015 Share June 22, 2015 Haters will be Haters. Bicycles are to use the roads unless in towns like Tampines and Pasir Ris where they are also allowed to cycle on walkways besides the road Like any other road user, the same traffic rules applies to any road user, be it is driver, a motorcyclist or a cyclist. Stop at all traffic lights, keep to the left unless overtaking etc etc. Unfortunately, despite being a member of a cycling group, it is also difficult to enforce traffic rules even among cycling friends. A short drive in the morning before 6 am on weekends when I go for my long runs don't help cyclist win much friends especially at traffic lights.

I think anyone who has driven for more than 3 months would definitely have been inconvenienced or endangered by a cyclist (and pedestrian or car driver) riding or driving unsafely. By saying this, you only prove that you are either an inexperienced driver or a liar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmTEdRmAsjI By the way, here is another reason why we need license plates on bikes. 2 red lights in less than 1 minute! By saying this, you only prove that you are either an inexperienced driver or a liar. In general I make it a rule not to argue with idiots on the web, but in this case I'll make an exception since you've called me a liar. Typical journey time for me in Singapore is 15 to 20 minutes. Whether it takes 15 or 20 has nothing to do with any cyclists on the road and everything to do with the level of congestion, how other drivers are behaving, roadworks etc. I once posted a video complaining about a cyclist who cut in at the last minute at a right turn on to Cavenagh Road, from my blind spot just as the lights turned green. The cyclists who saw my video agreed that the cyclist was in the wrong in that instance and that more experienced cyclists would not do that. Anyway, I use this to point out that editing, posting and talking about that incident took up 100x more time than the incident itself and although annoying it did not affect my total journey time. As to my experience as a driver - well I only do 10,000 km a year so I agree I am not on the road as much as some. But I have been driving since 1988 in, let me see, some 10+ countries (UK, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain, US, Canada, Malaysia, South Africa...). Let me repeat - a cyclist has never increased my total journey time.

Ride illegally in the center lane causing you to slow down (and possibly missing a traffic light?) 2. Ride in a large group blocking two lanes and yet again causing you to slow down (and possibly missing a traffic light?) 3. Ride illegally across the pedestrian crossing at the last minute while you are attempting a right turn at a junction causing either you or the car in front of you not to be able to make the right turn until the next light? Please pick a more defensible position before blinding defending cyclists.
Ktglfc Hypersonic June 29, 2015 Share June 29, 2015 Just witnessed a motorized bicycle making such a high-speed turn at a right junction, that the bicycle touched the kerb upon turning right and down went the cyclist and his pillions - his wife (probably) and a barely 2 years old kid.... Luckily they were not injured much apart from abrasions and of course, a crying toddler .. and they must thank their lucky stars that they survived without wearing helmets... Oops, I didn't offer any help cos I think they don't deserve mine.. sorry to say... if you put your lives purposely at risk, then don't expect sympathy..

I'm sure there is another forum known as My Cyclist Forum where the drivers there will have the title "Reckless Drivers". It's fortunate the family didn't add red paintwork to the kerb.

For 1 and 2, the cyclist part change to drivers then the answer will be yes. Always have drivers that stop in the right turn or go straight lane making me miss the right turn arrow. Or else some blur drivers last minute want to turn left so stop in the middle of the lane waiting to change to the left lane to filter left. Second scenario just happened to me this morning. Made me get stuck at the lights. However I have very little driving experience. Only driving for the past 7 years only. So you think it is possible that he has gone 270,000 km without any of those scenarios (or others that would result in being delayed by a cyclist)? Especially when he has driven for 27 years compared to your 7? Edited June 29, 2015 by Kusje

Possible. I also hardly encounter cyclists that are difficult to overtake. Its the same as overtaking those slow moving vehicles. Just change lane and go. No delay at all. ↡ Advertisement
