No point justifying why cyclist ride in the middle of one lane. Keep to a side and don't be a nuisance. It's that simple.

I encourage you to run over them since it is a nuisance.

Supersonic

I ignore car horn because i got no eye on my butt and i can't read drivers' mind.

A lot of roadies has big ego.  If not, why ride a 20k bike?

1) Same applies to cars getting honked. There's no reason to attribute the worst motives to a person honking, and even then, that's no justification for road rage.

2) A lot of drivers here drive cars worth more than half a million. Does that mean they can have a humongous ego and act accordingly on the roads?

Unless you're being facetious, I think your replies are borderline ridiculous. I'm prepared to share the road without ego, but not if the ones I'm sharing it with are rule-breaking, road-raging spandex-donning egomaniacs on two-wheelers.

I've seen some pretty stupid things on this forum, but your post might be in strong contention for most idiotic ever.

Do they give awards for that? :D

It's quite clear you're trolling.

For the last line (posting from phone, tough to edit), if it's the cyclists jumping to conclusions after being honked, maybe its their (cyclists') ego that needs to be kept in check?

I would rather honk, alert and let him gotten angry. Rather than following quietly behind. No one can judge what is in the mind of cyclist.

IMO, sometimes abit hard to don't be defensive when being honked at especially if it seems like it is for no reason. For drivers, the honk is not really loud cuz we are in a car and even the lousiest cars will still have alot more sound insulation than a motorcyclist or cyclist. The warning honk could sound harmless to the driver but being honked at for no reason might shock the cyclist and most people when they are frightened become defensive immediately.

I used to hate being honked at for no reason also cuz it comes as a shock, like someone shout at you from behind for no reason while you are walking, but now I gotten used to it already and just ignore when people honk if I know I am not doing anything wrong.

Defensive? Isn't it better than being knock down by other motorist?

Depends lo. If single lane road then I'll tap my horn to see if he moves to one side so can overtake. If more than one lane road then just change lane and overtake as usual la. Whether he in the middle or at the side, also need to change lane to overtake ma. Whats the difference?

Hone to advise cyclist to keep more toward the left(kerb). We can safely overtake him/her.

That is abit overboard to suggest running over a cyclist. If they want to share the road with others than they must adhere to all the traffic rules.

Goodness sake I have seem cyclist with ear piece cycling on the road.

We need TP to do their job.  Otherwise it is pointless to discuss about this topic endlessly like a broken record.

Cyclist with ear piece are idiots lah.  Cyclists must be able to hear the road traffic condition

shattering dangers of these batteries…..

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/pasir-ris-flat-partially/2941810.html

SINGAPORE: Part of a flat in Pasir Ris was destroyed after a fire sparked by an apparently overheated e-bike battery on Friday evening (Jul 8). The owner of the five-room unit at Block 750, Pasir Ris Street 71 came home to find his living room gutted.

Mr Andy Nini, 44, told Channel NewsAsia his children - a son and two daughters - managed to flee the fire along with their domestic helper. He got a call that his flat was on fire at about 7pm, and said his mother, sister and neighbour helped take care of his children. His wife, Nancy, a radiography technician, was not at home at the time as well.

The aircraft painter said he had left his e-bike to charge by the window at about 3pm that day, then headed to work. "I don't know what happened to the battery. Suddenly it burst," adding that it normally takes about five hours to be fully charged.

Mr Nini also said he bought the e-bike secondhand about four to five months ago, and had not modified it.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the fire at 6.30pm and that four occupants of the home had safely evacuated by the time its officers arrived at the scene. SCDF sent a fire engine, two red rhinos, two fire bikes and an ambulance. The blaze was put out using two water jets.

When Channel NewsAsia visited the scene, glass shards were seen at the foot of the block and the windows of the fourth-storey unit were blown out.

Don't know what you mean. You mean honk for fun? Cyclists only need to keep to the left lane. Which i think most cyclists do. As drivers, we just need to signal, change lanes and overtake them safely.

Quite hard to judge what is on the mind of a cyclist so I don't honk unnecessarily unless he is really doing something dangerous like swerving out to change lanes without checking.

If a driver has to honk at a cyclist before overtaking, I guess he/she shouldn't be overtaking at that point since they don't have the confidence to overtake safely. If they can overtake safely, I don't see the point of honking. Basically, I only honk at cyclists for the same reason I honk at other cars. I think its quite stupid to honk at vehicles that we are overtaking. Haven't seen anyone honking at vehicles before overtaking them before.

I have used earpiece while cycling.

One side so uncle Google can give me directions.

But yeah...

The whole point is....If you need to honk at a cyclist who is otherwise obeying road rules you're being a bully.

Juz get a phone & clip onto the handlebar loh.  It is safer that way as compared to 1 earplug.

Wonder if the e-bike is from approved vendors?

Home fire insurance will cover if the fire is from an unapproved or modified e-bike?
