IIRC, in Rules of the sea, vessels moving under own power (equipped with engine) hv to give way to vessels moving under wind power (such as sail boats). This is because it is assumed that a engine-powered vessel is more maneuverable than one that depends on the wind. Difference in size/mass not counted.

My point being, it may not be right to compare different mediums.

That's interesting, learnt something new.

If I were sailing won't try to challenge a speedboat nor an oil tanker to insist they give way to me!

Maybe the mamils should all be invited to go sailing and they can bring their attitude and behaviours to the sea. They can sail in convoys or 100 abreast.

put it in another way. 20 cars driving at highspeed tail gate 1 another reach a traffic light, first car pass. all 20 cars is justify to chiong the red light just because they are driving at high speed, tailgating and unable to brake in time?? its dangerous to brake, so all the cars should drive through??

make sense to u?? not to me 😂

Absurd.

Traffic lights aren't invented for long convoy! If there is a need to convoy  apply a permit with TP and engage the Cisco escort. About a thousand  for half a morning road trip. I have done the application/payment for trailers (long) road escort.

Whether trailer/car/caravans/bike/bicycle as long as red must stop behind the line.

Ps. Not a trailer need to engage escort. Width / length /weight are set out by the TP/LTA.

don't know the details of the case thus not judging who was right or wrong here but just putting it here for awareness - a life was lost.

Might have been a reckless cyclist, a reckless driver, or both. In any case, it's too late for the deceased.

Seriously rider should really refrain from cycling across zebra crossing. Unless they are dead sure all vehicles have stopped. No pun intended.

Not renewing road tax is a menace meh? Seriously that doesn't affect me but ah gong's coffers lah 😂

But running red lights affect everyone. Impounds cars that do that for 1 month each time they were caught on cam

If a car is on the road without valid road tax, there is also a 50% chance that it is not insured. Do you wanna try your luck claiming from that fella, if it hits your car? :D

Like the JB case better. 8 menace taken off permanently for good at one go. Then all will wake up. Including TP/LTA.

But unlike the JB case which the driver was acquitted, the driver in SG will likely be jailed for a long time and the family of the 8 dead will have a 13.6M jackpot each :D

One moment says should push and next moment may cycle.

Really prata King. Many pedestrians and cyclists don't drive and hence lack the cognition of drivers.

Many mamils on the other hand probably drive and it's fascinating to see the lack of awareness they exhibited while they cycle.

It has to be the leotard/iron man suit. Has to be.

To let cyclist cycle across  zebra crossing is giving them the benefit of the doubt. They will cycle slowly check clear then cross.

But this law have been abuse. How many time we seen cyclist zoom across zebra crossing without even reducing speed and checking

Agree.

Should slow down to walking pace and look out on coming vehicles.

Many just whizz across quite quickly.

Speed is 1 thing. Must have the awareness of the situation and look out also

Jurong east there got a zebra cross that from very far away drivers can spot any cyclist coming. A few time i see cyclist  coming at full speed.  From far i already  slowly brake to let them cross.  Alot of time they give me eyes contact and raise their hand to acknowledge.

But got alot other crossing the cyclist is cycling along the path parallel  to the road. They turn in full speed without looking. This type is looking for fast way to hell.

You're right. It's obvious they aren't individual cyclists and they knew each other, so cycling side by side chit chatting while being oblivious to traffic behind is already a NO NO. They can argue its legal to ride abreast, since its a 3 lane carriageway, and THIS is correct according to Road Traffic Act. Even so, its still f**ked up riding as one is within the left filter lane, the other is already on the middle lane for turning right. Like I had always said, the pet peeve of mine on the roads nowadays is the insistence on the right of way. Drivers, cyclists, motorcyclists etc, all guilty of it.

In this instance, AMDK cyclist pair insist that's its their right of way to ride the way they did because they are turning right. Legally yes not wrong, but being oblivious to traffic is just poor situational awareness. Insistence on the right of way and the lack of consideration of other road users are the problems. Throw license plates and licensing on these AMDKs also won't change a damn thing, at most pay fines and kanna confiscate bikes only right?

maybe G can come out with some law say....

1st time offence - fine and demerit points

2nd time offence - fine, demerit points and confiscate bike

3rd time offence - fine, demerit points, confiscate bike and jail term

4th time offence - fine $100,000 and jail term not less than 1 yr....[laugh]
