Lorry altercation with cyclist at Pasir Ris

While most cyclists are fine and know that they are the lowest denominator on the roads.

I've had two incidents before whereby i think someone with real rage control issues will have mowed the f**kers down.

If my children ever want to cycle on the road. I will throw away their bicycle and take away their allowance.

[laugh]

There's something called a PCN where u can ride safely and at lower speeds.

If u need to ride fast and long distance, u just accept the risk that one day u maybe mowed down by a drunk/angry driver or dump truck who will crush you like a tin can and may not even notice he ran over you.

If you survive, fine and good, maybe u will be missing a leg.

Nod Nod.

I like your description on "someone with rage control issue will have mowed them down"..

Even if allowed doesn't mean should do it to block and irritate drivers behind this case. What a pity that idiot not spending Christmas in hospital.

Like road hoggers.

These rules n rights is created to protect cyclist.

But they take advantage of the goodwill and abuse it to behave like a king on the road.

Esp when they wear their tour de france.

Its like when a car hit a jaywalker the car is alway wrong. But do u purposely go walk in the middle of the road.

Aren't you the one who said you don't want us to become like China (with the implication of over-regulation) when I suggested bringing back visible registration for bikes?

Isn't your notion of writing to LTA to clarify every little thing also supporting over-regulation?

Isn't simple common sense on the roads better? Like not insisting on blocking the lane in crowded traffic by going single file? Or do you want us to become "like China" when it suits you, and appeal to authority every time?

Thanks for reminding me what I had said.

My common sense always tell me to avoid roads with crowded traffic.

The thing about jaywalkers is interesting. No pedestrian purposely stand in the middle of the road for drivers to avoid, but i think there are those who walk much slower when crossing zebra crossings.

And my hypothesis is : the more expensive the bikes, the more likely the leotards are to be aggressive and block traffics.

Rule 4 allows 2 abreast.

Can always write to LTA for clarification.

yes i pasted rule 4 and rule 8

so i am asking does it mean, even though 2 abreast is allowed, they have to keep to left as practical as possible...

to solve the problem, LTA must add a statement to indicate that cyclist is not allowed to road hog, causing traffic to slow down , or riding in front of a moving vehicle. Edited by Ct3833

Regardless of traffic conditions; congested or not so, one must always exercise with common sense whenever on the road.

Cycle safely mate even on those less congested road like tuas.

Quite easy to hurt a prick like this.

Just send the two videos of him smashing the lorry's side mirror, and the video of him snatching the phone from the lorry driver to MCI. Ask MCI what kind of standard they expect from their staff. This should hurt him when it matters the most.

Just wondering - when he snatched that phone to prevent the driver from recording him, does he realise his face, name and job are already well known throughout the online space?

With such a congested road, naturally everyone need to repect other users inorder to coexist. The mentally of this cyclist is that he has all the rights is something he needs to.erase completely from his small little brain.

Like one bros says, when he overtakes a cyclist, he tap is horn, that is a warning nothing to be offensive about. In fact you should appreciate that warning.

Horn to warn or horn in anger is difficult to differentiate for a cyclist.

Rear facing camera on bicycles quite common already. That is how I managed to report the 2 hit-and-run drivers and also those who overtook so close to me. TP will take action. There was no need for cyclist to take law into his own hands.

Cyclist might be considered as being inconsiderate. But still legal. Not hogging the road since the lorry can overtake on the next lane. In the past, the RTA was not clear. They only say can cycle 2 abreast as long as not obstructing faster traffic. It actually meant as long as there is more than 1 lane so the faster cars can overtake. So now they have made it clearer and just state that can cycle 2 abreast as long as there is more than one lane for each direction.

boh lee you leh... if the road has 3 lanes, means the 2 bikers can ride abreast, each taking 1 lane?

all the cars can filter and overtake on the rightmost third lane? no logic mah
