Lorry altercation with cyclist at Pasir Ris

The cyclist behaviour is just [thumbsdown] Hope others Dont learn his stupid habits

There were just 2 of them, not as if there was a big crowded group, he could have just over taken his friend or slowed down to ride in line with his friend to give way to the lorry, but he chose to ride abreast to block the lorry.

At the traffic light, he turned back his head, obviously he knew he was blocking the lorry, but he still purposely rode in front of the lorry to obstruct the way.

Next he decided to throw bottle at a moving vehicle. His attitude from the beginning till before the accident was undesirable.

I just hope the driver don't get too severe a punishment for his wrong doing. One good thing he did is this incident has attracted a lot of attention and discussions all over social media, i hope it teaches those selfish and inconsderate cyclists a lesson, as much as possible, not to obstruct traffic when riding abreast on the road . Yes one can ride abreast, but be considerate.

when it come to cycling

sadly our highly educated tour de france wanna be local and amdk is worst then those ft worker cycling to work and back.

even on a 3 lane road bus road they can cycle right on the side on the yellow line,

they never cycle side by side,

these ppl are genuine green and saving the environment,

i alway give them as much space as possible,

look at this idiot that kenna buang, these ppl is well to do, but they choose to  bring their entertainment to the road( a freaking busy road, and purposely blocking traffic, causing a pile up behind, causing how many extra carbon to be burn???)

my malaysian workers also cycle to work, at first i discourage them, but they tell me sg driver usually quite nice and will give way and look out for them, ( they dun cycle side by side, and keep the the edge)

conclusion is driver dun hate cyclist, they just hate idiots

YES!!! To the part I upsized, bolded and underlined.

That's something I never even considered till now, but it's a very good point.

These "green" cyclists wax eloquent about saving the damn planet. But how much more vehicular emissions are they actually responsible for by hogging busy traffic? It's not like they don't have a choice, since they can choose a less crowded route or a less crowded time of day. And it's not like the vehicle drivers have a meaningful choice either - certainly, this truck driver cannot help but drive his good-carrying vehicle for a living. It's really the cyclists who are enjoying a purely *elective, optional, non-vocational* journey who should be accommodating.

And let me just get this off my chest: cyclists always like to kpkb about "sharing the road". Here's a newsflash: the "road" is *primarily* intended for motorised vehicles. It's meant to be a thoroughfare for the quickest modes of user-piloted land based transport we have, and that's motorised traffic. To say that motorised vehicles need to yield to cyclists no matter what they do is nonsense. If you really thought that every conceivable form of traffic had an absolute equal right to road space, go and live in a place like India - where humans, cows and bullock carts vie with cars, trucks and auto-rickshaws for road space. Do you really want an absurd situation like that in our country?

I'm not saying that cyclists shouldn't use the roads. But they should do so with consideration, and not be pricks insisting on the right to ride two abreast no matter what the traffic conditions are. Remember there are already purpose built paths for cycling (like the PCNs) - if the issue is that the speed limits are too low or that foot traffic is encroaching on the cycling paths, then take that up with the relevant authorities and solve that problem first!! Don't ignore that problem and use it as an excuse to make life more difficult for motor vehicles on our already crowded roads.

Is that a water bottle? Or the lorry mirror?

Wah I couldn't see it clearly, if it was a mirror from that lorry then he really deserved it. Edited by Ct3833

most of the comments f the cyclist ... [laugh]

and give benefit of doubt to the lorry driver that he was shocked by the cyclist broken his wing mirror

and then hand swerve to left and subsequently knock the cyclist

.

.

without this video ... 90% chances the lorry driver will be blamed left/right/center

.

.

this could turn the other way round where the lorry driver shocked and swerve to the right and cause multiple collisions

then the cyclist could be laughing and cycle away

If some cyclists dont like to cycle at PCN due to human traffic slowing their pace, or they are concern about causing accident to them. What so different about them slowing down vehicle on road and vehicle user may accidentally injure them.

Very good points.

And also to add, how many percentage of those frustrated commuters stuck in the buses due to roadhog cyclists, who eventually ended up buying cars of their own to beat the slow public transport? There are still many areas in Singapore not connected by MRT.

That is not very "car-lite".

Cyclist should keep left unless overtaking.

This cyclist deserves it. Hope he gets punished by the law too.

LTA says otherwise that kind of explained his self entitlement.

well, his life his call.
