My previous E39 520 almost muted while driving in Singapore.

On the other hand, it sounds sweet driving in Msia B road.

This is especially during overtaking.

IL4 has never been known for its sound especially 1.6L.

1 positive note for Mini R56 Cooper S is Akra exos for mod.

1.5T cannot do 8 secs must be either the driver want to save fuel or always jack rabbit type.

I think more importantly is to see what the performance tuning is, more than the displacement.

I remember the previous generation merc GLA180 & CLA180, equipped with a nerfed 1.6T engine, that churns out an embarrassingly low 120+ bhp...

i ‘ve driven a Sonata (2000cc)when i moonlight as a cabby & I change my weapon of choice to an i40(1.5)

Its almost like Day & Nite 

Both are Turbo diesel but the modern 1.5 

have tighter Emissions Regulations (Euro 6 and EPA) & Veri much Stricter regulations,

Ditto the GLA & CLA 

Most Mercedes models horsepower are pretty Conservative nowadays,some slight tuning will Frees up some horses.beneath.

I specifically bought the B58 because I liked how quiet it was (except for the factory stock start-up wastegate bypass). I enjoyed the smooth low end torque like turbo diesel. The variable valve, I frankly cannot tell the diff when it was open or closed, the car was so quiet. The guy I sold it too, immediate Akrapovic lol.

Fck I miss the B58.

Glad to see someone actually bought what dey like in a car.

Nowadays for many it’s a balancing a tight rope btw making everybody happi x’cept the buyer/owner himself. 

Wifey will say ,I wans dis ,this & dis plus must be in my favourite color .

Dun forget it must be cheap too.

The intricacy of modern era but Luckily I am indeed Blessed in dis context.

When Mercedes developed an Engime ,dey have various state of tune for all & Sundry.

Our market is not Big enuff  to tell Stuttgart  what we wans.

We dun have the Clout to dictate what we wan ,Class A or whatever.

Juzz Tick what’s available ,ya ?

Seen a couple of C160 dat fits nicely in but as mentioned onli a Few.

Surely you enjoyed the straight six more than the reason that it is quiet right?

Otherwise for an unusually quiet premium ride, Audis come to mind.

For me ,First thing dat strikes me to any car is the  silhouettes,everything comes second.

Remember 1st time I Bump into a C253 on the Road .

Oh my Goodness ,what the hell is dat .

i keep telling myself ……..i must ,I MUST.

i still Look back when i park my Shooting Brake ……. after all dis years.

Always Reckon M.B Design Language is up there .
