  1. source: https://www.motor1.com/photo/4226623/2020-nissan-skyline/ Other sedans don't seem so safe. The Nissan brand is in a weird place around the world as the automaker and its partners institute a new global business plan. The automaker's executive vice president Asako Hoshino says the venerable Skyline is safe, though. However, don't get too excited yet. Hoshino is specifically referring to the current Skyline sedan, which Americans would know as the Infiniti Q50 sedan. He's not talking about the GT-R. A newspaper report in Japan recently claimed that Nissan was discontinuing the development of all sedans, including the Cima, Fuga, and Skyline models in the country. The Fuga is related to the former Infiniti Q70, and the Cima is similar to the Q70L. "Last weekend, the Nikkei Shimbun reported that the development of the Skyline had been suspended and that the curtain had come down on the development of this symbol of Nissan. Nissan will never give up on the Skyline," Hoshino said during the launch of the Nissan Note Aura e-POWER, according to Car Watch Impress. It's worth noting that he didn't deny that the Fuga and Cima were going away. A report from 2020 might shed some light on what Nissan has in mind for its future premium models. The brand intends to transform Infiniti into "Nissan-plus" by sharing more platforms and technology between the divisions. This could mean far fewer rear-wheel-drive products for Infiniti. The Skyline name actually pre-dates being a Nissan model. The first generation arrived in 1957 as a product from the Prince Motor Company. Nissan and Prince merged in 1966, and the sedan stayed in the lineup. The Skyline is currently in its 13th generation in Japan. The most recent version arrived in 2013 as a sedan. There was a styling update in 2019 that made the vehicle look more like the GT-R and added more safety tech.
  2. SingPost Launches Longest Stamp In S’pore, It’s 16.3cm & Features The Entire CBD Skyline Source: https://mustsharenews.com/singpost-longest-stamp/ SingPost Issues Longest Stamp In Singapore & It’s Longer Than A Typical Ruler Stamps come in all shapes and sizes, often depicting national treasures or landmarks of a country. SingPost took this to a whole new level and introduced the longest stamp in Singapore’s philatelic history. The stamp measures 16.3cm long and features the Singapore Central Business District’s (CBD) skyline. The stamp’s denomination is $2 and collectors may be interested to know that it comes in a 2-stamp set. The other stamp – which costs $1.40 – showcases one of Singapore’s longest HDB flats, truly fitting. SingPost’s longest stamp measures 16.3cm SingPost said in a press release that the stamps will go on sale on Thursday (15 Oct). The stamp’s length is more than many school rulers, which are usually 15cm, coming in at 16.3 cm. The stamp features a beautiful panoramic image of the CBD’s skyline, capturing Marina Bay Sands and the Esplanade, which lies across the bay. Though it’s something to behold, we wonder how an envelope would look like with the stamp spreading out beyond the top right corner. Other stamp features an iconic HDB flat If one doesn’t find a need for such a long stamp, the set also has a $1.40 stamp which features Block 34 in Whampoa West. The HDB flat was built in 1971 and is known for its 320-metre corridor, with each level having 46 units. Something noteworthy is that the stamps feature different landmarks from 2 distinct eras of Singapore’s history, showing us that collecting stamps are a way to remember how far we have come as a nation. Those interested in collected the stamps instead of posting them can order First Day Covers ($4.90) or Presentation Packs ($5.95) via SingPost’s website. You can also get them at all post offices and philatelic stores from 15 Oct onwards. Long stamp for your Longchamp As the $2 stamp is rather long, one may prefer to keep it as a collectible. After all its image of our CBD is a looker. Or if you’d like, you could pair it with a… Longchamp? But seriously, don’t do that.
  3. Nissan has updated its Skyline sedan with its latest ProPILOT 2.0 driver assistance technology. Drivers can now drive hands-off on the highway. For sale in the Japanese market, the new sports sedan has the “world’s first driver assistance system that combines navigated highway driving with hands-off single-lane driving capabilities” according to Nissan. In another words, the car will work with its navigation system and prompt the driver the activate the semi-autonomous driving system when it enters a highway. Nissan is so confident in the system that it says it allows for hands-off driving while the car is cruising in a given lane. However, drivers who want to switch lanes must still do it themselves. Of course, the system also takes note of the driver's attention level. It will turn on the vehicle’s hazard lights and bring the car to a slow stop if the driver fails to respond to its alerts. Elsewhere, the facelift allows the new Skyline to benefit from its he company’s signature V-Motion grille. The car is available in four grades: GT, GT Type P, GT Type SP, and 400R. The top variant, 400R, is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 that pushes out 400bhp and 475Nm of torque while the rest make do with 'just' 300bhp. There is also a hybrid variant with a 3.5-litre V6 that makes 359bhp.
  4. Nissan has increased the number of parts for its Nismo Heritage Parts program. It now caters to R33 and R34 Skyline GT-R too. Launched last year with near 80 different parts for the R32 Skyline GT-R, the program was a hit and many owners of Nissan performance vehicles asked the Japanese manufacturer to expand it. Made for the domestic market, the program allows owners of the newer generation Skyline GT-R to refresh their exterior, powertrain, electrical, and various mechanical components. R32 owners will be pleased to hear that they have even more parts now and includes hard-to-find components such as new weather stripping and power window switches. Thanks to an array of companies like Nissan, Nissan Motor Sports, Autech Japan, and a selection of suppliers, the program has around 160 available parts for the R32, R33 and R34 models. With mint examples of the well-loved Skyline GT-Rs soaring in demand and price everywhere, current owners will be happy to get their cars restored at a more reasonable price.
  5. There are plenty of special edition Skyline GT-Rs around from various tuning houses like Mine's and Nismo. And here's one from HKS that is quite rare.. Dubbed the Skyline R32 HKS Zero-R, this 90s car is said to be one of the rarest Skyline ever built and is one of the four original units HKS built at first. The company was wanted to send the car to be homolgated for sale but rules back then required the HKS to crash test a number of cars to register them as one-off models. Costing more than S$150,000 each, the Zero-R was too much to be crashed, forcing HKS to abandon the project with only four units built. The car shown here lives in Brunei currently and used to belong to the Sultan of Brunei. The rest of them are supposedly still in Japan. Interestingly, HKS built another few units of Zero-Rs after the government relaxed its rules in 2005 but these six are not as sought as after as the original batch of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=27&v=bqcGpMqxjxQ
  6. There are quite a number of special edition Skyline GT-Rs in the world. But not many are as rare or special as this R34 Nismo Z-Tune variant. With the Hong Kong dealer asking for nearly S$720,000, it had better be! For the R34 generation, the GT-R Nismo Z-Tune is probably the best you can get. Only 20 units have been produced, with one said to be kept for archive purposes by Nissan. This particular example was made in 2005 and has a really low mileage of slightly more than 3000km. With the engine bored and stroked up, the original displacement of 2.6-litre engine has been increased to 2.8-litre. With many various new parts added to it, the handbuilt engine made a good 500bhp and allowed the car to hit a top speed of more than 315km/h. The 0-100km/h sprint can be completed in less than four seconds. Nissan also claimed at the car's launch it could set a 10.06 second quarter mile time which is much faster than many supercars.
  7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H81NExjRvLgYou can't let a few setbacks dissuade you from trying to achieve your goals, and that's as true inmotorsports as anywhere else in life. If you want an inspiring example of someone who isn't letting adversity stand in his way, just check out professional drifter Bartosz Ostalowski. He doesn't have arms but still competes with one foot on the wheel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BexKJ1QHNAE It would be amazing to see someone drift a car using just a foot in any setting. However, the fact that Ostalowski is able to do that during competitions makes the feat even more impressive. To make drifting possible, his car is a custom modifiedR34 Nissan Skyline with an automatic transmission and a LS V8 from General Motors for power. If you watch the video above, and somehow don't believe what Ostalowski does is possible, the clip shows another example of him at work. This one cuts between interior and exterior views of the same run.
  8. Both at about S$90k range. What is the main difference? Anyone got the specs?
  9. Just joined the forum and thought I might share my mistress with everyone. She's a 1995 series 1 R33 GTR V-Spec N1 (N1 being the same variant used for Nissan Group A racing). I was told by a trusted source that only 98 R33 N1s were built. Below is some difference between the standard GTR and the N1. - The RB26DETT N1 is an upgraded version of the standard RB26DETT engine. It was first developed by Nismo for Group A racing purposes. - water cooling channels in the block are enhanced to increase flow. The block, and internal components are also strengthened. - The pistons have 1.2 mm (0.047 in) top rings - Balanced Crankshaft, The specifications of the camshafts were also improved for power. - The N1 engine uses the same parallel twin turbocharger layout but with improved turbochargers. The N1 engine also received an upgraded oil pump and water pump, to improve the cooling and lubrication of the engine. The N1 engine is identified by its 24U number stamped on the block, as opposed to the 05U stamp on standard RB26DETT engines. It also came stock with an oil cooler. - The turbine wheels on the new turbochargers are made from steel, rather than the weaker ceramic used for all standard GT-R models. The R33 N1 engine was slightly revised, with larger turbochargers than the R32 N1 engine, supporting more power if the engine were to be modified. - They were advertised as making the same 280 PS (276 hp) as the standard model, but with the lighter engine parts, and more efficient turbochargers, the engine would make closer to 350 hp (260 kW). - No "luxury" options which includes, air-conditioner, floor mats, rear wind screen wiper and radio/CD player. I've owned the car more 1.5 years and below are some mods which I have done. 1) Nismo Monoblock Forged LMGT4 18"x9.5" +12 rims with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 285/30/18 2) Trust Full Titanium Catback Ti-R 3) Apexi Power FC ECU 4) Apexi Power FC Boost Controller Kit 5) Just Jap Racing Ceramic Hi-flow Cat (cheapo Aus brand) 6) HKS Stainless Steel Front Pipe 7) Air-con (this is acutally the first mod as the car doesnt come with it) 8) Tein Super Street Coilover Heres a couple of my favourite photos. 10. The current R35 Nissan GT-R is a car that is admired and adored by many. This is a car that could basically take on a 997 Porsche 911 Turbo and many other current supercars on most roads and win. The other thing about the R35 GT-R no longer carries the 'Skyline' tag. It isn't a Skyline anymore unlike the previous R32, R33, R34 Skyline GT-Rs. But Nissan is adamant that this GT-R still has the same heritage as the cars mentioned above in that it shares the same sort of all-wheel drive chassis (albeit with more technology). I believe it does as it follows the same overall look as the earlier GT-Rs. but if you really want to cement the heritage completely, I believe you have to get Wald International's Nissan GT-R Sports Line Black Bison Edition body kit. Wald International is a custom tuner that somehow dabbles in every type of car. From the Toyota Alphard MPVs to Mercedes Benzes to Nissan GT-Rs. You can also stare at amazement as they also body kit Rolls Royce Phantoms and Maseratis without fear. But their Nissan GT-R Sports Line Black Bison Edition is very tasteful in my opinion. It captures the essence of the first Nissan Skyline GT-R, the KPGC-10 from the 1970s with that simple black rear wheel arch extension and it works. The R35 GT-R looks like a modernized version of the 1st Skyline GT-R because of this. It links the first with the current one and I love Wald International for coming up with such a simple styling tweak that totally works wonders to the car. Wald International's Black Bison body kit (I still can't seem to fathom why they call their tuning range 'Black Bison') for the GT-R consists of a carbon fiber front bumper spoiler with a grille cover/front lip/side duct/under cover and fog lamps, FRP Side skirts, carbon fiber rear diffuser, carbon fiber boot spoiler, carbon rear wing flap, FRP rear over fender and 22inch Portofino rims in matte black finish. No. This body kit isn't all that new. It has been around for a while but I've just realized how complete this Nissan GT-R looks with it. Sometimes a tuner that does over the top most of the time can come up with a total gem.
  11. Just curious, would any of you here consider this: http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...447&DL=1000 given the age of the car? Reliability issues and wear n tear would probably be a concern right? But damn, i still prefer the shape of this over the current GTR's haha.
  12. finally got it ... but on the first day... battery was flat battery was flat :(

    Skyline

Watched the movie... conclusion = Poor Script, good special effect. Part 2 to be release in 2012...
  17. This is how the engines are assembled by hand.... If you ask me, I feel its a little low tech considered some manufacturers have adopted a fully automated process which is be even more precise than hand assembled.
  18. One of my personal favourites linkback: Garage36: Tokyo Auto Salon 2010: Hako-Ste "Hakosuka+Stagea"

  24. Newly launched condo at bear road...just beside the new Nicoll MRT. Just visited the showroom on the 38th floor of the office block. Is it worth it to get a high floor unit to enjoy the fantastic view or maybe rent out in future. 1bedroom ~800sqf * 1500psf = $1,200,000 2bedroom ~1111sqf * 1500psf = $1,666,600. 3bedroom ~1300sqf. Is it time to get a unit or should I wait for the economy/property fallout in few months time? (that is provided there will be a fall out and price crash?) Any comments is welcomed.
