  1. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a42472719/2024-nissan-gt-r/ 600-hp Nismo model gets a front limited-slip differential for the first time. Now in its 16th year of production, Nissan has revised the 2024 GT-R's front bumper with redesigned upper and lower grilles. The upper grille has been thinned and equipped with fang-like end pieces, while the lower section has been given a boxy air opening and a pair of neat cluster of hexagon-shaped daytime running lights. Out back you'll find a smattering of small changes, such as the trim around the quad-exhaust exits, to bring the GT-R into the modern era. Nissan claims the new bodywork increases downforce while maintaining a drag coefficient of 0.26 Cd—the same as the outgoing model. Engineers went as far as to measure the thickness of the mesh in the front grille and thin it appropriately to enhance cooling and eliminate unnecessary drag, according to Nissan. ... Under the hood of the 2024 GT-R sits the same hand-built 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 the car has had since the 2020 model year, pushing out the same 565 hp and 467 lb-ft of torque. Power gets to all four wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Nissan's ATTESA ET-S all-wheel-drive system, which can vary torque split from front to rear depending on the driving conditions. There are also Bilstein DampTronic adjustable shocks, Brembo brakes, and RAYS 20-inch wheels. The track-ready GT-R Nismo makes a return for 2024, sporting its own updated bodywork, which includes a 10-percent larger carbon wing with swan-neck style uprights, a new splitter, a new diffuser, and canards. There are also wider tires, carbon-ceramic rotors, a carbon roof, turbochargers from Nissan's GT3 race car, and for the first time, a limited-slip differential for the front axle. Output is unchanged at 600 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque. ... Also returning for 2024 is the GT-R T-spec. It gets the base engine but the carbon-ceramic brakes, widened front fenders, and stability control calibration from the Nismo. It also gets a dark Mori green upholstery and two exclusive paint colors taken from the R34-generation Skyline GT-R: Millennium jade and Midnight purple. Nissan says the 2024 GT-R will begin to arrive at select U.S. dealerships in the spring, with Nismo models coming in the summer. Pricing has yet to be revealed.
  2. We always hear the phrase "power is nothing without control" In this latest blog post, we now can show you exactly what that phrase means. Shared furiously among many Whatapp chats is a video of a recent accident involving a Nissan R35 GT-R losing control in one of the tunnels of the CTE. The matt silver GT-R which does not look stock at all, should be producing quite a bit more than the stock 480bhp (an remap will easily bring the power figures near 600bhp). It can be seen barreling along the tunnel on 11 July 2020 at quite a high speed before losing it all and smashing into the rear of a Mercedes-Benz CLS350. What did you think made the driver lose control of his AWD GT-R? Could it be a case of malfunction on the car that caused the car to go bonkers? Let us in the comment box!
  3. Yes, the Nissan GT-R gets another round of refreshing, with the Nismo variant even more hardcore than its predecessor. Shown at the New York Auto Show, the king of the GT-R range gets a number of revisions but does not get an increase in horsepower (600bhp). That said, its turbochargers have been refined and now feature a modified turbine shape and fewer blades. Interestingly, they are the same ones found in the GT-R GT3 race car and are programmed to provide the same amount of boost. Meanwhile the six-speed dual-clutch transmission have been blessed with new software, improving the adaptive shift control and a more refined ‘R’ mode. Its titanium exhaust system has also been revised. In order to extract more speed out of it, Nissan has tried removing some weight and they have succeeded by shedding 20kg of weight with newer components and parts. In addition, the new carbon fiber bumpers, front fenders, hood, roof, side sill covers, trunk and rear spoiler add up to another 10.5kg worth of weight savings. Eagle-eyed readers might notice the new front fenders are now similar to those found in the GT-R GT3 race car. They are said to end hot air away from the engine bay and smooth the airflow along the body. More weight shavings come in the form of the new 20-inch RAYS forged aluminum that are wrapped in new Dunlop tyres that features a wider tread and fewer grooves, increasing contact patch by 11% Handling wise, the suspension has also been revised with enhanced yaw rate response, while the steering rack is also improved, offering more linearity and precision than before. Lastly, new and larger Brembo carbon ceramic rotors, 410mm at front and 390mm at the rear are claimed to be more durable and stronger than ever.
  4. There are plenty of special edition Skyline GT-Rs around from various tuning houses like Mine's and Nismo. And here's one from HKS that is quite rare.. Dubbed the Skyline R32 HKS Zero-R, this 90s car is said to be one of the rarest Skyline ever built and is one of the four original units HKS built at first. The company was wanted to send the car to be homolgated for sale but rules back then required the HKS to crash test a number of cars to register them as one-off models. Costing more than S$150,000 each, the Zero-R was too much to be crashed, forcing HKS to abandon the project with only four units built. The car shown here lives in Brunei currently and used to belong to the Sultan of Brunei. The rest of them are supposedly still in Japan. Interestingly, HKS built another few units of Zero-Rs after the government relaxed its rules in 2005 but these six are not as sought as after as the original batch of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=27&v=bqcGpMqxjxQ
  5. We all know Nissan's GT-R is pretty receptive of mods and quite a few already have more than 1,000bhp. Seems like someone needs more. This particular example has 1,700 horses and probably enough torque to turn the earth. Where else better to unleash it than at Sun Valley Road Rally 2014 in Sun Valley, Idaho where it was clocked doing nearly 380km/h. And it seems like it has more potential considering it was hitting the rev limiter as it flew by in the video around the 55 second mark. http://dai.ly/x22qu4p_1700hp-nissan-gtr-goliath-hits-237-1-mph_auto
  6. Watch Nismo’s Alex Buncombe climb 18 places in his Nissan GT Academy Team RJN Nissan GT-R GT3 in the opening lap of the Blancpain Endurance Series season-opener at Monza. Starting all the way in 32nd place out of 44 others, he quickly moves pass some big brands like BMW, Porsche and Lamborghini to slot into 13th at the end of his second lap. Now that's real life Gran Turismo for you! http://dai.ly/x1p0ljz_al-buncombes-gt-r-monza-blancpain-endurance-series_auto
  7. Talk about a blazingly fast car - the 1,700bhp Nissan GT-R Goliath by Switzer, which purportedly set a new top speed record in a 1.6km run for GT-Rs at the recent Moscow Unlimited 500+ racing event. According to the organisers, only two other vehicles have surpassed the 400km/h mark in a 1.6km run - a Ford GT at 430km/h and a Chevrolet Camaro at 402km/h. Switzer's heavily modified yet street legal GT-R Goliath reached a speed of 402.23 km/h in 1.6km after just 22.602 seconds. The Goliath was made for an unnamed client (likely from Russia) with Switzer stating the following about said car, "The client wanted a GTR - but not just any GTR! The car the client asked us to build had to be 'for street use', not just 'street legal'. The difference there is the difference between 'comfortable' and 'tolerable'. He made it very clear that he expected this to be a 'real car' with full amenities. What he did not want was a stripped-down drag car that was technically street legal. He also wanted the car to run a low 20-second ET at the Moscow Unlimited." Watch the world's fastest Godzilla in action below. http://dai.ly/x16wif7
  8. Recently this little friendly battle was shared around Facebook and it caught our attention. It is not everyday that we get to see supercars battle on the streets. Or rather we don’t even get to see our local supercars stretch their legs because there is nowhere for them to do it here. Not that we condone street racing... The Lamborghini Aventador in the video leading the chase is nicknamed "Pandaventador" and it seems to have quite a decent following in Malaysia. With probably more than 700bhp sent to all four wheels, it easily leaves the Nissan GT-R behind with its immense acceleration. Heavy traffic? Not an issue with the Aventador as the driver weaves in and out of traffic at breakneck speeds. At one point during the chase, the GT-R's in-car camera recorded speeds of more than 200km/h. http://dai.ly/x156rq2 At the end of the video, the GT-R is seen catching up with a Ferrari 430 Scuderia. Part 2 anyone?
  9. There is a new gentleman in France, and a fast one. This gentleman runs on four wheels instead of two feet. The heart of this man is a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 engine which pumps out 542bhp. We are talking about the GT-R Gentleman Edition which Nissan has offered specifically for sale in France. Only 10 units will be built. Based on the GT-R Black Edition, the Gentleman Edition is available only in Gunmetal Grey. The limited edition GT-R is distinguished by a pair of 'Gentleman Edition' badging located at the front fender vents. On the inside, the super car gets amber red leather upholstery and an individually-numbered titanium plaque. The leather-stitched steering wheel, gear stick and dashboard receive a sporty two-tone treatment. Gentlemen, start your engine!
  10. Nissan has previously announced that there will be a successor to the R35 GT-R and the next GT-R is due to be released in either 2017 or 2018. The GT-R's chief engineer, Kazutoshi Mizuno, also mentioned that the current R35 GT-R will evolve over the next five years. According to recent reports, engineers at the company are considering giving the next Nissan GT-R a hybrid powerplant. This might not come as a surprise since there have been a rising number of automakers experimenting with hybrid technology for their supercars. Nissan's engineers are looking at two possibilities at the moment. The first one is a hybrid set-up where one or more electric motors will help to boost the car's performance and depend on recovered brake energy for power. Nissan introduced the Infiniti Essence Concept with a similar hybrid technology a few years back and the concept was able to make around 600bhp. But, the heavy weight of the batteries used for the hybrid system was a real let down for the engineers at that time. The other option is a simpler one which utilises an electric motor to power up supporting items such as lights and etc. this will help to greatly reduce the load of the engine. Additionally, it will also help to boost performance by being mounted to the gearbox. The next GT-R might also feature engine stop-start technology and cylinder deactivation in order to improve fuel consumption. Introducing hybrid technology on supercars will have some benefits. Other than reducing emissions level and improving fuel economy, electric motors will give the car instantaneous torque, improved traction control (especially for all wheel drive cars) and increased range through reduced fuel consumption.

  12. When Nissan launched the R35 GT-R around five years ago, it was a big achievement for the Japanese firm and also for the people who was involved in its development. This is a car that is able to outperform many other exotic supercars that costs much more. The R35 GT-R could sit four adults (although the rear seats are a little cramp), drives and looks great. Generally, the car has what many are looking for; performance and practicality. And ever since its release, Nissan has given the R35 GT-R several updates to make it relevant with its rivals. But, what about a new model? There have been some plans stating that the company wishes to release a successor for the R35 GT-R in the near future. But latest rumours suggest that those plans might have to wait as Nissan CEO, Carlos Ghosn, has yet to approve the next GT-R. Although Ghosn was one of the key supporters of the current R35 GT-R, there might be a possibility that the next GT-R may never be approved. Some of the reasons given were Nissan
  13. [extract] Rumours about Nissan releasing a smaller sports model has been around for quite some time. Currently, the company has two sports models which are the 370Z and the GT-R (three, if you were to count the 2-door Skyline). But that might change soon as Nissan

  15. Nissan has released official specs and pictures of the 2011MY (Model Year) GT-R. What's different from the previous models are some exterior tweaks to make the car a little more aerodynamic, some interior appointments (a redesigned instrument panel and seats) and what most are expecting; a power upgrade. The GT-R officially crosses the 500bhp barrier to produce 530bhp and 612Nm of torque or 630Nm in the Spec V. It also sips less fuel too, 8.5km/l and is also considered a Light Emissions Vehicle (an SU-LEV in fact) too. Imagine that. Its like eating a whole 2kg cheese cake and still keeping the weight off. Technical improvements include reprogramming for the Dual Clutch gearbox which now has a SAVE mode for normal driving, improved acceleration in R mode. RAYS have provided lighter rims too. JDM or Japanese Domestic Market GT-R can choose variants according to the depth of their already deep pockets and according to the level or outright performance or outright luxury. The variants are the Pure, Black, Premium, Spec V, the Club Track and the ultra expensive luxury yet performance filled EGOIST variant. All basically used the same 3.8liter twin turbo V6 with the 6 speed DSG type gearbox. We all know the Spec V and the Club Track variants will be hot with the boy racers and the Gran Turismo crowd, but the luxury EGOIST (pictured above) is something new. An ultra expensive bespoke GT-R, in the price realm of Ferraris and Lamborghinis, is not yet heard of. The EGOIST is basically the high performance GT-R Spec V (RAYS alloys, carbon fiber bits, titanium exhaust, extra torque etc.) with a luxury interior unlike those you would find in, say, a Bentley Continental GT. The whole cabin of the EGOIST is worked over in leather; the whole dashboard, doors, roof and whatever your hands could come into contact is trimmed in leather. In fact, Nissan claims that the interior parts are sent to Germany to be trimmed in leather (I kid you not). The seats are double stitched with a quilted pattern and you can choose 4 colors of trim for the upper part of the cabin and up to 10 for the lower part. BOSE provides a high end sound system to cater of the entertainment needs. Even the logo on the steering wheel is hand crafted using the Japanese Maki-e laquer method. This is usually reserved for expensive porcelain vases, and those ultra expensive Namiki fountain pens that looks so intricate and outright beautiful. The extra luxury and extra bits of performance parts will cost the JDM GT-R EGOIST to cost an estimated 15,000,000Yen or a whopping US$185,000. Compare this with the price for the base GT-R Pure variant and you'd know that Nissan have decided to go Ferrari or even Bentley with its prices. The base GT-R only costs a meagre 8,694,000Yen, or US$107,000. An ultra luxurious Nissan GT-R, it could be Godzilla in a Brioni suit. Go figure. -Now compare all the above interior pics with the normal GT-R Spec V interior below-
  16. The boys over at Gtrblog have got a hold on the 2012 Model Year "MY" (or end 2011 JDM) R35 Nissan GT-R specification, prices and pictures! According to them, the pics and specification stated here are of the real thing. The 2011JDM Nissan GT-R has a new factory code too, from CBA-R35 to DBA-R35. Visual updates and upgrades include LED daytime driving lights located on a restyled front bumper. The shape of the little winglets/canards have changed and there is also a redesigned rear bumper/diffuser which improves downforce by a further 10%. According to data posted by gtrblog, the GT-R now makes more down force than a Ferrari F430, Porsche 911 Turbo and the BMW M3 to name a few. Drag coefficient also goes down from 0.272 to 0.268 which is good for any car for that matter. New alloy wheels from Rays (forged aluminium) cut 3kg per rim, making a 12kg loss off the GT-R unsprung weight. This translates to better handling, steering response and feedback. Buyers can specify the lightweight wheels in either Hyper Blue Black or Hyper Titanium, which basically is the usual bronze color to our
  17. Sometime last week Peugeot launched their new weird looking mini SUV called the 3008 in Singapore. It has a chassis that is based on the 308. It also has a 150bhp 1.6liter turbocharged engine (with a more advanced 6 speed gearbox) from the 308 but with the looks of a hippopotamus instead of the shapely 308. There, now lets move on to some real good news......
