  3. Anybody tried before? I just tried this evening. Yeah. Try for fun, see whether can get or not. How much did I bid for? Check out this video for the experience. Take note, once you bid, the deposit is $10,000. The non-refundable fee is $2. If I get the COE, I will have 6 months to register the car. LTA only collects the rest of the COE when I register the car. Sounds cool to me.
  4. If you buy a COE Car and have $3K to spare. . . This is an assumptive thread where I will go and fish some of the COE cars in sgcarmart and share with you all, If I were to buy these cars, what are the things that I will spend on and why I will spend on these items. I did buy a COE car, and I spend quite a fair bit in modification, But that's my hobby. For those who are considering buying COE car or those who are driving a COE car, please come and share with us your maintenance and pro tips to preserve a COE car. To start off with the first car, I have chosen my own car model. 2007 Honda Accord Euro R. So, if I put aside $3,000. What will I spend on? The car itself is in a very mint condition, Only like some exterior wear and tear I will complaint, other than that I think the car drives very well so nothing much I would like to do to the engine, Just to make it a tad bit better for daily driving. Innovative Mount - $500 + 300(labour) I bought the engine mount online at ebay and went to install. Skunk2 Short Shifter - $90 Alpine Type-E Series SXE-1750S Car Audio 6.5-Inch Component 2-Way Speakers ($60) PAC RPK4-HD1101 Audio Integrated Installation Kit 2003-2007 Honda Accord ($400) I think this is one of my best value buy. instantly make the car modern again! Now Euro R comes with Apple Carplay and Android Auto! Sony XAV-AX200 DVD Receiver w/Bluetooth - ($350) The reason why I choose this headunit is because of the volume knob. I am very analog and anal when comes to these things. So this fit the bills. Momo 350 Monte Carlo Steering wheel ($130) Brought Second-hand at Japan Yahoo auction. They say airbag save lives. But unfortunately, the Honda Accord Euro R had a recall for the airbag. And I would like to preserve the original steering wheel in good condition, so when I sell the car, I hope it helps to fetch a better price, so I bought a momo steering wheel to replace. Haven't install yet, will update the photos when installed. Fluidampr performance damper ($700) Also Yahoo Auction. Since I upgraded the engine mount, the rattling of the dash is quite significant, yes, the drive is more responsive. But also a bit harsh in daily drive. So after some research, I came across this damper to help absorb some of the vibrations and also give a smoother delivery on low RPM. A full spray exterior spray painting. ($900) I have sent my car for a refresh since I might drive it for 10 years. Best decision ever! For those who want lobangs can check out MCF Marketplace for lobangs! Summary Innovative mount - $800 Skunk2 Short Shifter - $90 Alpine Speaker - $60 PAC Kit - $400 Sony XAV-AX200 - $350 MOMO Steering Wheel - $130 FluidAmpr - $700 Full Respray - $900 Total = $3,430 Over budget abit. I think Steering wheel and short shifter can be excluded if want. 😄
  5. Cat B COE continues upward rise, and supply for upcoming quarter expected to shrink significantly Fewer projected car deregistrations will lead to significant COE quota shrinkage in the upcoming quarter, which will continue to drive COE prices upward. 05 Oct 2021 COE price trend over the past quarter COE premiums for both Cat B and Cat E hit a six-year high in Sept COE premiums for larger capacity cars have continued its upward trend, though the upward climb has slightly tapered off. Compared to the preceding quarter (Apr to Jun 2021), the average COE price across Jul to Sep 2021 is 4.5% higher for Cat B, and 5.1% higher for Cat E. In Sep, COE premiums for Cat B and E hit six-year highs. For Cat A COE, premiums have remained largely the same from the preceding quarter, with an quarter-on-quarter drop of just 0.9%. The trend for COE premiums is projected to continue to rise upwards. COE premiums hit incredible highs across the board in 2012-2013, so premiums in the coming two years are expected to be similarly high. Many owners who reach the end of their 10-year COE cycle will likely be looking to purchase new cars. For buyers who are in the market for a new car right now, it would be prudent to buy now instead of waiting further. Vehicle deregistration data and COE supply projection Significant projected COE supply shrinkage is expected to put increased upward pressure on COE prices Based on statistical forecasting using latest data released by the LTA, the quota for the upcoming next Nov to Jan quarter is expected to decrease by 24% for passenger cars (excluding commercial vehicle and motorbikes). This is extrapolated from the lower vehicle deregistration figures in Jul to Sep 2021. For Cat A, COE quota is projected to decrease by 30% from a monthly average of 1,605. For Cat B, COE quota is projected to decrease by 22% from a monthly average of 1,541. For Cat E, COE quota is projected to decrease by 12% from a monthly average of 394. The significant shrinkage in COE supply is expected to put increased upward pressure on COE prices. New car pricing trend New car prices have increased by 6.5% compared to the preceding quarter Comparing car prices for popular new cars across authorised dealers, there was a 6.5% quarter on quarter increase in new car prices. The average increase in new car prices is proportionate to the increase in Cat B COE premiums, which indicates that car buying demand continues to remain steady compared to the preceding quarter. Most popular used cars Over the past three month period, these are the five most listed used cars on sgCarMart. ModelYear of registrationAverage depreciation (approx.) Honda Vezel 1.5A X 2016$10,437/yr Mercedes-Benz C-Class C180 Avantgarde 2016$16,065/yr Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6A Elegance 2019$10,118/yr Honda Civic 1.6A Vti2019$10,617/yr Mazda 3 1.5A Sunroof2017$9,159/yr The Honda Vezel and Mercedes-Benz C-Class continue to the most popular used cars on sgCarMart. The significant number of 2016 Vezels listed continues the trend from the previous quarter, whereby full-time Grab drivers are likely trading in their existing cars for newer models to bypass the necessary course that seven years and older cars will be required to undertake. However, the average depreciation for used cars have remained relatively consistent compared to the previous quarter. With most of the used cars being Cat A models, this is not surprising - Cat A COE premiums have remained relatively constant compared to the previous quarter as well. For car owners who may be put off by COE premiums continuing to increase and thus make new cars more expensive, buying a used car will still be a more feasible option. https://www.sgcarmart.com/news/events_features.php?AID=4022

  9. 2nd hand car dealer always increases their price after COE released. Example Sienta standard increase from $8k plus yearly to $9200 then best, after COE release become $9800 up. Now at this type of situation, some of us need vehicle for work purpose to earn a living and they do such things. Dont you think it is despicable and inhumane of them.
  10. Hi bros here. Some noobie question to ask about car price after the 80k coe yesterday Sgcarmart updated skoda price to price without coe. Coincidentally I have noticed some other dealers list car prices without coe as well. May I know how does this work and wads the rationale behind this? High coe so hide the coe? Means buyer bid for own coe? Or dun want list price with coe to frighten off buyers? Not lookin to buy a car at this crazy amount but am puzzled how this works and appreciate if you can help a noob out

  12. JDM, Euro and Exotic sports cars For the uninitiated, sports cars consist of 3 main categories: JDM, Euro, and Exotic. These sports cars come in a bunch of varying specifications. Let me give you some examples. The Renault Megane RS is a 4-cylinder turbocharged, manual, front-wheel-drive Euro sports car. Likewise, the Mclaren 720S is a V8 twin-turbocharged, automatic, rear-wheel-drive exotic sports car. Last but not least, we have the iconic JDM street-legal rally car – The Subaru Impreza WRX, a 4-cylinder turbocharged, all-wheel-drive sports car that is available in both the manual and automatic transmission. The list goes on and on, but you get my intention, don’t you? With dozens of offerings for sports cars of varying specifications, there is always an ideal sports car for you, no matter the specifications you require and whether you can afford it. Why 2030? Unless you have been living under a rock, you would have encountered the Electric Vehicle (EV) craze surrounding us lately. According to the SG Green Plan 2030 (SGP 2030) announced during Budget 2021, we will be looking at significant changes to the status quo. Nope, I am not talking about the rise in petrol duty rates. I am referring to the phasing out of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles by 2040, driven by these three aspects of the SGP 2030: Cessation of new diesel cars and taxi registrations from 2025 Requirement of newly registered cars to be of cleaner-energy models from 2030; and All vehicles to run on cleaner energy by 2040 What does it mean for us? The SGP 2030, coupled with our beloved COE system, is the perfect formula for phasing out ICE cars in Singapore. Unfortunately, this will spell the demise of JDM, Euro and Exotic sports cars alike. From 2030 onwards, the supply of ICE sports cars will be what we currently have in the market. As such, does this mean that the low supply of ICE sports cars drives its market value up? If you wish to drive your dream Nissan GTR, BMW M4 or Lamborghini Aventador in the future, you better pray hard that its current owner renews its COE. Then again, it would be best to consider the maintenance and upkeep cost required for these ageing cars before purchasing them in the future. Similarly, manual transmission cars will be phased out eventually. Here's why. EVs have an electric motor in place of an ICE vehicle’s “engine” by using a single-speed transmission that regulates their electric motor. Except for the Porsche Taycan, which uses a Two-Speed gearbox. As such, EVs come only in automatic transmissions, and the phasing out of existing manual transmission ICE cars means the demise of manual transmission cars. Electric Sports Cars Yes, they are insanely fast. Yes, it produces instantaneous torque. But can we consider them as true-blue sports cars? Aside from the speed and torque, car enthusiasts also seek the pleasure of high engine revs, the burbling exhaust sound and, most importantly, the liberty to modify various car performance components – None of which an electric sports car is capable of fulfilling. Furthermore, the single-speed transmission that regulates its electric motor seems like a bore that takes the fun out of driving compared to manual gear shifts or the quick gear shifting of DCT transmissions. For those Gen Y & Z car enthusiasts out there, I will do one for you. — Here’s a plea to those of you that currently own any sports car; please renew your COE so that the future generations of car enthusiasts will have a chance to own the car of our (childhood) dream someday. Last Thoughts The golden question here is, will a manual (class 3) license still be relevant in the near future? If it is irrelevant and deemed obsolete, this will remove any segregation between the community’s existing “Class 3 vs 3A” mentality. If you are unaware of the "Class 3 vs 3A" commotion, read the article below: --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 13. in my work industries, we are facing raising cost due to global shortage of steel material. I think it may soon affecting car manufacturing sector when the existing material stock ran out, as per articles below. https://www.wapcar.my/news/not-just-semiconductors-steel-is-getting-more-expensive-car-prices-could-go-up-33343 Not just semiconductors, steel is getting more expensive, car prices could go up Hans·Sep 8, 2021 05:12 PM Car prices are expected to increase in many parts of the world as shortage in semiconductors and rising prices of raw materials dent margins to a point that car manufacturers can no longer absorb. In some countries like India, the increase in car prices has already happened. A report by Japan’s Nikkei says Toyota has concluded a new round of price negotiations with Nippon Steel, with the agreed price to be USD 182 higher than before, the largest increase in 10 years. To get the lowest cost, Toyota negotiates the wholesale price and do the purchase of steel rolls on behalf of its suppliers. Prices are negotiated semi-annually based on the prices of iron ore and coking coal, the main raw materials used in making steel. Steel is one of the biggest contributor in the sum of raw materials cost for a car. An average family car has about 700 kg of steel. The cause of increase in steel prices is similar to the shortage in semiconductor parts – with the rapid recovery of economic activities post-Covid-19 lockdowns around the world, steel foundries can’t keep up with demand and many manufacturers have not placed their orders earlier, due to difficulties in making projections for an economic recovery. Orders for manufactured goods typically need to be locked in at least 6 to 9 months in advance and suppliers will in turn, make their own forecast based on the orders receive. So a shortfall in forecast will cascade through the supply chain. Korea, another major steel producer, is also seeing price increase from Hyundai Steel and POSCO, which the Korea Economic Daily reports to be up by USD 46 per tonne – the first increase in Korea in 4 years. Prices of copper, another key material in automotive electronics, have more than doubled. A survey by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA) in May revealed that cost for Korean car manufacturers are now paying up to 20 percent more for semiconductor parts. Even Korean tyre makers Hankook, Kumho and Nexen, have either raised prices of their products, or have announced plans to do so soon. Meanwhile in India, Tata, Toyota, and Honda have all raised prices of their cars slightly (low single digit percentages), citing increase in raw material cost as the reason.
  14. Hi all i bought a 2nd hand performance car several years from a owner who erroneously extended COE for 5 years. My intention originally was to just drive the car at this really cheap price till COE expiry and maybe export it. But i have grown to love that V8 NA and its running gr8 so can i get advice on the 2 options below pls : 1) How do i appeal to LTA to allow a one time extension of the 5year COE. Fyi they already reject me 2 times. Is there some other avanue to appeal to? 2) How to export the car to a buyer in Malaysia or UK. I have 2 buyers interested in this car. Thanks bros for your guidance.

  19. Hi there, my Honda Civic is going to reach 10 years next June. I am thinking of extending the COE, but some say might as well get a new car because of my car's high mileage (already 180,000km). Any advice on which would be better? I am thinking of extending the COE because my usage has dropped quite a lot in the last 2 years (don't need to send wife to work or kids to school anymore), and I send the car to Koh Motors for servicing regularly, so I thought the car can tahan another 5 years. Thanks!

  21. COE expiring on 11/07/2021 and still considering to renew another 5 years or not. Now there are 2 PQP options to choose and of course will choose the June PQP which is $812 cheaper if decided to renew now. Anyone knows when will the June PQP be remained available after that will be left with only July PQP to select? As my current COE still 2 weeks before expiring.
