  1. Tomorrow 23/06 is the referendum where UK vote whether to remain or leave the EU. Surprise nobody has started a thread on this. Or don't care? So.... Remain or leave? Good read here http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-32810887

  3. [sweatdrop] From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._moves_off.html Posted on 20 Jun 2012 How could this happen? Doors remain open even as train moves off STOMPer wasabi was on her way home when one of the train doors remained stuck open even as the train moved off from Lakeside station. Said the STOMPer: "I was on my way home from Boon Lay MRT to Cityhall MRT at about 10pm last night. "At Lakeside station, one of the doors started making noises during 'Doors Closing' and remained stuck open even while the train started moving. "Thank goodness the train was relatively empty, if not it would have been dangerous for people standing near that door in a crowded train! "The doors eventually closed at the next station."
  4. I think most interested in properties have already read this article. http://www.asiahomepreview.net/2012/02/25/437/ Your opinions on this article? My opinion: I agree that an 'excessive price fall' is unlikely. I'm thinking of 8-10 percent. PAP really don't want the bubble to burst. They want to let it slowly deflate. The article does not account of foreigners leaving. And of all those that came, how many plan on actually buying and staying here for good? Definition of foreigners? PRs only? Or including EP/WP? It is ridiculous to include foreign labourers in his number of foreigners, but maybe he excluded them already?
  5. Hi, Seeking some advises for my current situation. Current ride, proton savvy manual opc, is turning 6yrs this march. Mileage only 70k FC, 14km/L on good days but getting bad lately.. probably become heavy footer again Current loan left below 7k but at 3%. Saw on sgcarmart, selling from 18.5k to 24.5k for auto or manual. Understand that manual will fetch a lower price, probably looking at 16-17. Reason for sale: wanted an auto instead.. tired of changing gear.. and probably sick of the car too despite it really serve me very well. Top speed can hit around 160km. Thus i
  6. for me, i've been on D all the way even at long traffic lights. however, recently i've been switching to N whenever gradually stopping to a red light. not sure if its true, but heard that its a good way to save petrol and minimize the engine's 'redundant' output. but i've a query as to whether constantly switching to N and back to D will cause the gearbox lifespan to deteriorate and kaput easily? will be observing my FC on my next topup if it indeed registers a higher KM/L ratio..
  7. And then he spoke again... From CNA: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1124971/1/.html GE: PAP will remain "strongest party" in Singapore, says MM Lee By S Ramesh | Posted: 26 April 2011 1857 hrs SINGAPORE: Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew said he believes the People's Action Party (PAP) will remain the strongest party in Singapore. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Mr Lee said there may be a few seats for the opposition either as constituency or non-constituency members. That is because Singapore has introduced new rules to allow up to nine of the "best losers" from the opposition to be in Parliament, so that the opposition's voice is heard. When asked about the main issues for voters, he said they include the cost of living and the cost of housing for young couples. Mr Lee noted that while many new HDB flats are being built, they cost more because they are better designed and more elegant. Singaproeans also do not like waiting and they blame the immigrants for pushing up the prices of the homes. Mr Lee added that HDB flat buyers can buy off the open market from owners who want to sell their HDB flats. However, he stressed the economy is doing well, and Singapore has also raised living standards, employment prospects, education for children and the schools and tertiary institutions. The government has also catered for both the top-end and lower-end for those not academically inclined. -CNA/wk
  8. I am planning to spend a few months in Malaysia. Can anyone advise me how long can I drive my Singapore-registered car in Malaysia? I have checked with LTA; there is no problem on their side be it for normal cars or OPC cars. They have no idea regarding the laws & regulations on the Malaysian side. Do I have to pay to drive my Singapore-registered car beyond a certain duration??
  9. I am kind of curious about the new stretegy of HDB in increasing valuation and reducing supply which helped the HDB prices to stabilize in the middle of one of the WORST recession in recent memory. Is this a "good" thing??? Kind of curious how fellow singaporeans feel about this new approach of the hdb? They THINK it will make hdb owners happy but I think they have miscalculated as mass market condo people also want a part of the pie and will quickly raise there prices as well. So instead of selling your hdb for 350k, u sell it for 400k but your new condo cost like 800k instead of 700k. The WORST off is the new couples without property. The BEST off is those retired people who intends to sell their big property and downgrade. Lucky I bought a condo already 8 years back so I am not that badly hit. Although this new policy makes the idea of migrating to Australia more tempting. Personally, I think this will just make most people unhappy in the end as wages is going down, while housing cost is shooting up....
