  1. This may be nostalgic for many people. Tomorrow is actually the last day of operation for Toa Payoh Swimming Pool and Stadium. They would make way for an integrated sports hub. For me, I took my pre NS IPPT there many moons ago. Today, I did a short run round its track. A senior told me to take a photo of her with the track as the backdrop. I then asked her what the stadium meant to her. She told me that she participated and represented Singapore in running at this very venue in 1980. She is 67 and still run. Her best friend who was with her was also a caretaker for the stadium. Here are some photos.

  4. http://rt.com/news/215363-qatar-fifa-fake-fans/ Migrant workers in Qatar get one dollar an hour for sitting in the stadiums and pretending to have fun, to applaud and to do the wave, AP reports. Sometimes they even were asked to dress like Qataris in white robes and head-scarves.
  5. After so many years and even last memory celebration, the stadium is coming to an end in October ........ Up and coming is a new Sport Hub....... CNA news: Sports Hub to open by April 2014 After being stalled for nearly two years due to the global financial downturn, the Sports Hub project will finally kick into gear. On Wednesday, the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) signed the contract with the Singapore Sports Hub Consortium to design, build, finance and operate the Sports Hub for the next 25 years on a 35-hectare site in Kallang. Demolition of the National Stadium, which sits on the site, will begin in October, and the new facility will open its doors by April 2014. Should they had done it 2 years ago, this could be the YOG venue .....

  7. In yet another worksite accident, a 600-tonne crane slid off a trailer on Wednesday afternoon at Kallang, where the new National Stadium is being built. The Straits Times understands that the mishap took place at about 5pm, after the crane had been dismantled and was being transported on a trailer. Some of the sub-contractors at the site witnessed the event and sent back photos to their employer, who posted them on citizen journalism website Stomp. The employer, who only wanted to be known as Ray, said that the crane was one of three which had been installing a roof structure at the site. The 42-year-old believes that the crane could have slid off because its swing table was not locked, allowing the crane body to swing off balance when it was being moved. A spokesman for the Manpower Ministry (MOM) said that the ministry has been "informed of the incident" and is "looking into it". The Straits Times understands that no one was injured. 14. Hi All I am going for a concert at indoor stadium soon. Just saw in the SISTIC website that no photography/videography is allowed: 21. No photography, audio or video recording is allowed during the Event unless otherwise stated by the Promoter. I intend to bring my DSLR with 300mm lens. I have not been to any such concerts for a long time so can anyone can tell me if they really enforce this rule? I don't want to end up going there and then cannot bring into the concert hall. Especially since i am going to rent the lens @ $100. Thanks.
