Same as changing of car engine oil. U see in normal workshop :

 

1) Drain engine oil.

2) Replace lub oil filter.

3) Top up engine oil.

 

 

Actually, correct and proper procedure should be :

 

1) Run engine for a while and let the oil circulate to all parts of the engine.

2) Drain engine oil.

3) Top up new oil till minimum mark.

4) Run engine for a while and let the oil circulate to all parts of the engine.

5) Drain engine oil.

6) Replace lub oil filter.

7) Top up new oil till maximum mark.

8) Run engine for a while and let the oil circulate to all parts of the engine.

9) Top up new oil till maximum mark.

 

 

Which procedure is ur mechanic doing?

 

 

Something in-between i think? [confused]

i guess the capacitor kaput already

thought of thinking to change the whole wall switch

My Amasco ceiling fan has been working fine for the past 14 yrs....my elmark asted for ony 6 yrs. Both type of fan used the same way.....on for most of the day! Donno why i dont like aircon...when my wife or children on the bedroom aircon i will gibe excuse to sleep outside.

Looks like it sucks air from the bottom and distributes out in all directions. No fun sitting just below the DC motor.

My Amasco ceiling fans also used > 3 years, only its remote sensor and internal sensor broke down once before. But motor still good.

I also don't like aircon. Maybe I was brought-up during childhood to sleep without aircon... So now I often had to sleep alone too, just like you. [laugh]

yes...both my fan the motor still ok...oni one of them i broke the speed selector switch chain. Now running in no.2 permanently!

Maybe we are those children that were thought the old style....ni need aircon and ini use the fan when it iswarm....but i think it should be a better way of growing up! So nx time i know who to call when i need kaki for a sleep buddy....hahaha!

thanks to this thread i went to jb and bought a kdk 3-blades ceiling fan to replace the one which went kaput at home.

 

i then went to install it myself.

Some advice: First, check that the bolts for the new fan ceiling hook fits exactly into the old holes in the ceiling. If it doesn't, drop everything and call a pro.

 

However, i thought i could do a pro's job, and to cut a long story short, a 40mins job took 4 weeks and lots and lots of nagging. Fan and ceiling are fine now :D

isn't it worth to pay $40-50 for a pro to do it for you, to save your 4 weeks time and nagging???

just to add in this thread for info...

 

if u have an old orbiting kdk ceiling fan with a 3-speed wall mounted controller and the controller is busted, kdk does not produce the 3-speed controller anymore.

 

instead of replacing the whole fan, buy the 5-speed controller. It works equally well but i'd avoid the top speed.

Me too, a diy man... And sometimes, it's not the end result but the journey in doing it personally... We'll learn something somewhere and that's knowledge you can't learn from reading alone.... Hehe.. And not forgetting the sense of achievement after it... Something rich people who think by paying money and problem solved would never be able to comprehend.... Hehe..

KDK fan is of very good quality, it's much cheaper in JB.
