Passenger dies after Uber car crashed into tree this morning at Xilin Avenue

http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/passenger-killed-after-uber-car-crashes-into-tree-along-xilin-avenue-driver-arrested

Actually statically, the % of fatal accident vs number of phv driver is very low. However based on the news report the 2 fatal accident all involved driver less then 25yrs old.

Young driver especially those 25 and below have tendency to speed, like take fast corner, Yolo attitude. Not say those age 26 and above don't have. But they are more matured and some may think of family, their kids etc and will not do those reckless driving.

I think Uber or grab already had GPS mongering system to track drivers driving style..

My suggestion is that if any of the driving style fail. Ban them, no question ask. Like that it will be safer to passengers.

Like this one.

I pass all driving style.. Haha

So if any of these is not a green tick, straight away ban them. No question ask. No need to set minimum age. As the GPS tacking is quite accurate. So with these, it will weep out rackless driver who like to take corner fast, like to accelerate hard, like to speed and lastly like to brake super hard and last minute. Get rid all of these drivers. There are also older driver like 30plus 40plus also drive very recklessly hor.

Hope LTA see this post, and take my suggestion into consideration. Force Uber and grab driver to ban those who failed driving style. The road will be safer..

Hope Uber to change from your driving style will not affect your account to your driving style will affect your account. As long as you do not fulfill all the 3 green tick, you will be ban from driving Uber.

Young people usually have a daring dare attitude. Everything is POSSIBLE.

They lacked experience in the real world and thus tend to do risky things.

In this case, obviously when it's raining, you slow down.

When you don't know the road or road conditions, you slow down.

You need to know the performance and handling of the car and the tyres.

Generally, if the car doesn't handle well, you slow down.

I wouldn't dare push the Axio I'm driving. Or any Vios or Altis.

They don't handle well. That's the hard truth.

Same, when I driving passengers, I will drive slower then my usual self. I tell myself passenger safety come 1st.

But generally speaking, I see more of super slow phv driver then those drive super fast and aggressive.

So far whenever I sit PHV, I get the young and fast ones. Taxi driver like to drive fast but they don't really swerve in and out to overtake cars. Those PHV I sat in all drove like they are racing with every car on the road...

Maybe feels faster cuz they are weaving in and out of traffic. For taxi, I notice they drive fast but usually just stay on lane 1. Got slow car infront, they also just follow until the car exit then they speed up again.

LTA/TP should start using SAF style for those Public transport drivers.

Whether driver right or wrong, must go and enjoy Changi Chalet facility for days or weeks

How is that fair?

Must be based on fault!~

Hi There, I've just received my New car 2 months ago under 3yrs Leasing plus 7yrs bank loan.

Right now, in order to finance my loan, I 've decided to join in Grab Car flexible scheme using my own car.

However, I need to open a company of my own according to the scheme requirement.

As spoken to the refinancing agent appointed by Grab car that 3.48% will be impose and a few hundreds involved if your car still have loan to settled.

Are there any Car Owner who like to share the experience of how does it works as well as pros and cons?

Your advised and sharing is much appreciated ?

Without Grab/Uber, you think taxi drivers will be eating the humble pie now?

Perhaps Grab/Uber has been around for quite a while so you probably forgotten how yaya taxi drivers can be. You flag a taxi down, they locked their doors and wind down the windows a bit to ask where you are going. Not happy they don't take and drive off, leaving you in a lurch.

They choose where they want to go.

So I say thank god for Grab/Uber else we still have to see the farked up attitude of choosing customers by taxi drivers.

I am puzzled what prompted you to buy a new car with 10 years loan in the first place. In your own words, in order to finance your car loan, you join in Grab Car Flexible Scheme.

I am assuming you have a full time day job so to enable a car loan. Then only time you can do Grab Car would be evening and weekends.

You sure you are willing to do all this just to maintain a car that is a highly depreciating asset with high cost especially with your car picking up strangers for revenue.

Sounds like the sequence is wrong?

Take car first, with the financing and loan and all, then think about how to get them serviced.

My own experience.. Do up calculations to make sure I can afford to service the loan or pay full before considering whether to book that car..
