IIRC correctly that part of the mega junction, the round about-like layout, if you do not take the right 3 most lanes to go towards the city, you can still take a slightly longer route around the circular junction to join the same route later on. Thanks for pointing out the location. Sorry I'm a suaku when it comes to the western part of SG. I thought it was an expressway judging from the number of lanes and how wide the roads were. Alan_Myth Neutral Newbie March 29, 2016 Share March 29, 2016 Since you asked for opinion, my guess is that you drove dangerously close to the cyclist Looking at your pictures, i really dont see anything reckless with his riding, but i could be wrong if he was serving left and right. Whilst it is safer for the cyclist to ride close to the yellow lines, but there could be times when there are debris, stones, water/oil puddles, long stretches of sand, or stretches of uneven/bumpy road surface, which would render the cyclist unstable or even cause the cyclist to fall by riding over them, therefore the cyclists would have to take evasive action by riding near the middle of the lane. As motorists, if we fail to anticipate such actions from them and give them the space they need, then arent we being a hazard to other road users as well? Just my humble opinion since you asked, not flaming you bro =] Thanks for the opinion. I am a cyclist too but I don't cycle this way because it will endanger myself an motorist too. We, the Motorists always anticipate. I did not drove close to him or I "sound a horn" to him to alert him not to drive too far out of the road as it is still quite dark in the early morning. I thought it was an expressway judging from the number of lanes and how wide the roads were. I take that junction occasionally. Never liked it. especially during peak hours when you have mega container trucks and commercial vehicles jamming up that junction. Even as a driver, if I find it hard to filter to the right 3 lanes to make a connection to west coast highway, I will LLST take the left most lane and go the longer route. Last 2 riders are already on it keeping to the left of lane 3. Next 2 riders are are doing the same albeit at a slower pace. 1st rider was on the extreme left lane and I see nothing wrong as he could be taking the left most lane towards the roundabout heading to Jurong town hall or for other reasons. In fact, I would question if the driver is driving between 2 lanes as from the angle of the video it is hard to tell as the lane markers on 4 and 5 seems to be going under the middle of the vehicle. It could be the driver being kind and polite to give more space to the left most cyclist. If it is, then I would thank him for it. No need to explain to me. The comment is a running joke in MCF. As for cyclist, I always give them as wide a berth as possible. Legally, they are allowed on the roads. Sometimes, there are situations where the law cannot cover so common sense and care for another road users' well being should be the main considerations. I think for the video, the driver (video uploader) just assumed they are the same group of cyclists and hence taking up all 3 lanes. It may not be an expressway but with the multiple lanes and wider roads, drivers tend to drive faster compared to a roads within residential areas. all hail the king, its all right, I voted for it, blame myself, only, Pls leh. See the picture below and we must give way to this angmo guy for his reckless cycling on the road. Normally, we will cycle close to the double yellow line but this angmo take up one third of the lane. Do traffic police give them a ticket for their reckless cycling? I don't think his is considered reckless cycling. And the car infront overtook him the right way. More and more people are learning how to overtake cyclists properly with a safe gap. The cyclist never turn right, but he kept to the right lane. Even if he is turning right, he should keep as far left as possible which is the second lane since that lane can also turn right. As for that junction, its legal to cycle that way so its up to them whether they want to risk their lives or take the longer route.
