  5. http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_677946.html READERS of citizen journalism site STOMP reported and shared pictures of floods at blocks in Jurong and Choa Chu Kang late on Wednesday after a heavy downpour. The National Environment Agency had earlier issued a heavy rain warning about showers between 11.10pm and 12.10am. At least two HDB blocks in western Singapore were affected. One STOMP user, FloodLAH, said the multi-purpose hall at Blk 297, Choa Chu Kang Ave 2, was flooded. 'The water was about ankle-deep,' the user said. Another STOMP user, a resident of Blk 221A in Jurong East Street 21, said the water makes it difficult to locate the drains. 'Metal covers are not installed over the drains near the flooding area and the muddy water makes it difficult to see and locate the drains,' the STOMP user said.

  7. Road bully blocks ambulance, patient dies An orange-coloured Smart car failed to give way even after the ambulance's driver honked and flashed the front light. -The China Post/ANN Sun, Dec 26, 2010 The China Post/Asia News Network A CAR driver was accused yesterday of failing to give way to an ambulance carrying a seriously sick old woman to the Cardinal Tien Hospital in Xindian District of Xinbei City on Friday evening, according to the Xindian fire division. The fire division dispatched an ambulance to Zhongxing Road of Xindian District at 6.21 pm to rush an 86-year-old woman surnamed Yu, who was in a critical condition and almost showed no vital signs, to the hospital. But when the ambulance reached the intersection of Beixin Road and Dafeng Road, one orange-coloured Smart car failed to give way to the ambulance, even after the ambulance's driver honked and flashed the front light. Instead, the private car driver once attempted to brake, making the ambulance almost "kiss" the small car. Finally, the private car stopped by the roadside, but the driver rolled down the window and showed the middle finger toward the ambulance to vent his anger over being forced to give way. Outraged by the unfriendly gesture of the car driver, the ambulance officer, after sending the patient to hospital, filed an accusation with the police station against the private car driver on charges of obstructing the implementation of public duty. The police station will ask the car driver to explain his behavior in the case. Link
  8. Due to job requirements, I have to reach office at 5am occasionally. Whenever I drove past Rochor Rd towards Bukit Timah Rd and there is a road block, I will always get stopped. Do you always get stopped at road block? Does the TP stop a car based on car make?

I managed to squeeze through earlier when the traffic was clear but the driver proceed to block the traffic completely. The lane at the back of me could cater for at least 3 cars if not for this inconsiderate QQ driver ! Dummy better go for a refresher course. Wonder if the Traffic Police actually book drivers like this idiot ?

  12. Yesterday came back from KL after spending 4 days there. Haven't driven along North South Highway for quite a while. On my way to KL (i.e. 27 March), I encountered 4 traffic police road blocks. Luckily, I was a bit apprehensive about speeding initially. Thought of picking up speed after I left Johor state. However, after passing 2 road blocks, I decided to stay within the stipulated speed limit of 110km. I saw quite a few cars caught for speeding. Including Singapore cars, of course. The Malaysian TP is definitely trying very hard to curb the speeding problem. My advice to all bros is don't speed. Unless you have state of the art laser/radar detector cum jammer, it is better to be safe than sorry. By the way, on my way back from KL, I only encountered 1 road block.
