hi bros & gals just wanted to find out if anyone here in MCF is into karting, and also into competition in M'sia. basically, want to gather some info like costs, competition venue, competition categories... as i would like to enter into some races in 2007. because after 2 years plus of leisure karting, i feel i want to experience proper racing situation. thanks in advance!

Michael Schumacher moved to shake off more of the rust of his three year retirement at the weekend by racing karts. After finishing just tenth at the wheel of his Mercedes in China, the seven time world champion reverted to 40 horse power at the Erftlandring circuit in Germany and set pole position in a Tony Kart for the 125cc KZ2 class. The 41-year-old German won the first of two heats, but was beaten in the second. Not only will Schumacher's W01 chassis be a new one in Barcelona this weekend, the package has been updated for a longer wheelbase that should satisfy his desire for a less understeering car. Did a perfect lap at kartright speedway using a rental kart.....no skidding no nothing....nailed the handling of the kart.....and i realised how to even go faster now..... however one thing bad happened....my handphone dropped and a kart went over it....also alot of strength and stamina is needed.....to counter g forces...... had some fun touching wheels and over taking..... some pics of race karts taken....and man some of those guys r rich driving ferrari and skyline gtr also saw yuey tan...i think he was the one who crashed out n left.... karting is fun...but it cost money....ask a owner cost at least 10k man and next time must really wear jeans and shoes....if not handphone drop here are some pics

for those who knew, almost once monthly there's a kart race in JB. and we had the 1st proper kart race in Plentong, on 15 Feb, Sunday this track configuration was used: the format goes like this: Quali for 30min start based on Quali times then Heat 1 of 25 laps start based on finishing order of Heat 1, then Heat 2, finals, of 25 laps my Heat 1 was finished in the 1st corner in the 1st lap when someone just spun in front of me at the apex. our wheels jam. 2 laps down when I got going again... anyway to cut the long story short... my accident in the very 1st lap of Heat 2. i'm in the red kart.... must have some black cats crossed my path on 13 Feb, Fri!!! damage my rear axle. and my back and ribs hurt a bit just hope to get a better race next month.

it's has been awhile since this track has been opened after it was moved from Premas Jaya, Johore Bahru. Ok, 1st thing 1st, how to get to the new Plentong kart track please look at this: http://obracing.sg/KARTING_tracks_Plentong.html very well done by some bro! next is the final 4.5km leading you into the track. it is a very rocky, ditches and potholes dirt track. see my pic. and as the 4-5 Swifts who try to go in while i was heading out last sunday... some are wonderfully lowered! and better still, ask one guy, who drove his S2000 with semi slick tyres thru the 4.5km. yes, he was preparing for a private track day on Monday at Sepang. very likely he has to change brand new tyresAGAIN just in case the tyres are damaged by the rocks. thus choose your choice of car wisely while going in. a Toyota Hilux will be one wise ride. upon reaching the track, the configuration of it is the 1.1km layout while the rest of the 300m is set to complete next month. see pic for track layout. take note of turn 4, which is the hairpin where many karters got caught out. it is because the straight before it is downhill from the Highest point of the track. speed is very fast so braking has to be either early or very precise. choose the former option to be safe. one karter was very very seriously hurt when he was hit by his fren. gushes at the elbow area are so deep that bone can be seen. both were in fun karts. see pic for the slope and the hairpin. all in all, this track is very exciting because as u will see from the track layout there are 3 straights one after another. u can almost continue full throttle for a long distance. then there is the 3/4 circle. finding the best line there is tricky. and neck is strained to the max at this stretch. well hope to see some bros, and sis there! cheers PS. according to the boss, he MAY get a space somewhere near the track so that in the future those who do not want to drive in can park the vehicle and he will have a van to get u guys in. well, let's wait lor

Just reading the papers today and realised that if we book the whole racing track for one hour in Jurong, it would cost S$1300.00. Thus if we have 30 members going there to trash one another, each individual would pay only S$44.00 . Quite a good deal leh ... maybe you can become acording to car brands with the exception of me - E46Radx (Juan Pablo Montoya), Magfocus (Eddie Irvine - btw where are you these days), Seansene (Pedro Dela Rosa), Guyver (Mika Salo), Foo (McNish), MikeChong (Micheal Shumacher), Alfa TS or Alfpoon (Rubens Barrichello), Kelvin Gadgeter (Ralf Shumacher), Vtecian (Jacque Villeneuve), Vtim (Olivier Panis), Vtecinisde (Fisichella) and .... and so on and so forth. Ooops, forgot , me become Alex Yoong .... Then we can really race one anothers wits ... and not worry about dumping our cars in walls or road kerbs (pun intended Guyver). Anyone supports this idea ??
