  1. The rising cost of car ownership in Singapore has only made owners baby their cars more. Despite how much we baby our car, there are some instances where damage to our car is inevitable. Watch the following video to know why: What Happened? The above video was retrieved from Tesla's sentry mode, which continuously monitors and surveys the surroundings of the Tesla while it is parked. The following incident occurred at an HDB estate in Clementi, where a man was caught on video loitering around a parked Tesla and behaving suspiciously. After ensuring no one around him, he took out a key and gave the parked Tesla a long, good scratch as he walked past it. Little did he realise that his act of vandalism would be captured by the Tesla that he scratched in HIGH DEFINITION. His vandalism may be motivated by pure mischief or an act of vengeance. Regardless, it is plain wrong to commit such an act. Below is the aftermath of the act of vandalism on the Tesla: Looking at his modus operandi, I highly doubt this was his first act of vandalism. I hope the culprit is brought to justice with ample video evidence and a detailed description of the vandal. Netizens' Comments Pretty sure it will be effortless to track him down since his physical description and the area he resides in have already been established. Because getting caught on a regular dashcam is too mainstream. This made me laugh. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  2. 4 teenagers were arrested by the police for defacing several multi-storey carparks, fitness corner, a motorcycle and signs in the vicinity of the carpark in Punggol with red paint. The 4 teenagers arrested were 13 to 14 years of age, as reported by Shin Min Daily News. Police investigations are ongoing.

  4. Surely these young punks have better things to do than to draw on a car with markers? A recent video posted by Sgfollowsall has netizens wondering if this was simply an act of vandalism or if there was more than meets the eye. The video opens with what sounds like a few teenagers talking loudly and using markers to draw vulgarities on a grey Volkswagen Touran. The location appears to be an open carpark along East Coast Park. The person filming walks around the vehicle to show the various doodles made by his friends. He then proceeds to pick up a marker to make his mark on the car with an offensive comment to LTA. The clip ends with a picture of the finished product – the SGD $197,900 vehicle completely covered in doodles. Is this vandalism? At first glance, one would assume that these punks were vandalising a stranger’s car with malicious intent. However, several comments under the post highlighted the possibility of these boys playing a prank on a friend. A commenter also added that the vehicle owner had intended to respray his car and encouraged his friends to draw on it before doing so. While we are unsure of the actual scenario, let’s discuss the possible consequences of vandalism and what constitutes vandalism in Singapore. According to the Vandalism Act, writing, drawing, painting, marking or inscribing on any public property or private property any word, slogan, caricature, drawing, mark, or symbol without the written consent of the owner counts as vandalism. Offenders found guilty will be fined up to $2,000 and an imprisonment term of up to 3 years. Additionally, they will be given up to 8 strokes of the cane. Netizens’ reactions It is important for everyone to note that acts of vandalism are not taken lightly in Singapore. Even if this incident was done as a prank or with the owner's consent, it definitely hurts my heart to see these kids doodle on such an expensive canvas. -------- Witnessed an accident? 5. Two days ago, a camcar parked at Oasis Terraces, a shopping centre located in Punggol, was vandalised by a man wearing a dark grey shirt and yellow lanyard. According to the CCTV footage included in the video, the man appeared to use a sharp object to scratch all four sides of the vehicle, resulting in damages as pictured above. As people unknowingly walked by, the man ducked behind a pillar beside the car before making a second round around the vehicle. Under the Vandalism Act, any attempt to commit any act of vandalism results in a penalty of a fine not exceeding $2,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 3 years and corporal punishment of not less than 3 strokes and not more than 8 strokes of the cane. Netizens' reactions While we are not sure of the whole story as to why this camcar was vandalised, netizens speculated that it could just be that the camcar owner was unlucky enough to be chosen or that the owner must have offended the man before this incident. If you have been to Oasis Terraces recently or are intending to for the next few days, do be careful and protect your vehicle from potential vandalism. If you have seen this man or have any information regarding this incident, you can respond to the original post on Facebook.
  6. Just my bad luck today to have my car vandalised - at least that's what its classified by police (mischief to vehicle?) - and the suspect did not manage to get away; luckily delayed by security staff until police arrived. As usual, with no bodily harm, police just take statements and let everyone go. I was only told not to take law into my own hands and to "avoid" the suspect! Apparently, vandalism of private property is pretty much "ownself" business to pursue with the courts, or drop the case. But I think this is no surprise already... even though there was a CCTV recording, according to the security. My question to those who have suffered their car being vandalised, how is this kind of case pursued, and to what outcome? I belive there were some cases discussed in this forum before, with video evidence captured? I was only told to get a hard copy of the police report and go to file a complaint at the sub court, which is going to be quite long drawn out, I predict, and costly. I'm more worried this is some 'psycho' fellow who will keep a lookout for my vehicle for other mischief, so if action not taken, he may become bolder. Lodging police report is just one step to have a record in case of future problem, even if police can't do anything.

  8. Heartpain sia.... http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/more-singapore-stories/story/seven-luxury-cars-splashed-paint-remover-car-workshop-re#xtor=CS1-10 Seven luxury cars splashed with paint remover at car workshop in Redhill Published on Dec 14, 2014 6:35 AM 2701 312 1 0PRINT EMAIL The paintwork of the cars has corroded because of the attack at the workshop in Redhill. The vehicles were not broken into and nothing was stolen from the workshop. -- ST PHOTO: SEAH KWANG PENG By Lim Yi Han Seven luxury cars were found splashed with paint remover yesterday at a car workshop in the Redhill area, causing an estimated $80,000 in damage. The cars - a Ferrari, a Volvo, two Audis and three Mercs - had been parked at Optima Werkz, a workshop in Kung Chong Road. When The Sunday Times visited the workshop yesterday afternoon, police officers were seen collecting evidence from the cars, whose paintwork had corroded. The vehicles had not been broken into, and nothing was stolen from the workshop, said manager Samuel Sia, 37, who discovered the damaged vehicles when he arrived at work around 7.45am yesterday. He called the police immediately and inspected the area before ringing up the affected customers to break the bad news. "Of course, they were angry, but not at us. They understand that this is an unfortunate incident... We will make sure the cars are restored to brand-new condition," he said. The costs are likely to be covered by insurance. Footage from the 50 surveillance cameras installed in the workshop has been handed over to the police, added Mr Sia, who did not elaborate on what it revealed. Police are investigating the case of criminal trespass and mischief. This is the second time such an incident has happened at the 15,000 sq ft workshop, which specialises in repair and maintenance services for luxury cars and supercars. In June, paint was flung in from outside the compound, but it fell on the ground and none of the cars was affected. No one was arrested. Mr Sia said that the workshop, which has two other branches in Serangoon North and Upper Thomson, will beef up its security, and may hire a full-time guard to patrol the area. The 29-year-old owner of one damaged vehicle said that more preventive measures would boost customers' confidence. The man, who declined to be named, has been using the workshop for two years, and has three other cars serviced there. "Obviously, I'm not happy with what has happened but the workshop has been honest and the way they handled the situation was very professional," he said. "They are willing to take full responsibility. I believe they are doing what they can," he added.
  9. Saw this motorbike in the multi-storey at Pasir Ris. Police were present in the late morning. I surmise the owner must have reported the case. Parts of the motorbike were seen scattered all over the place. Makes me wonder. Is this vandalism or theft.
  10. While unhappy SMRT bus drivers displayed their frustration by going on strike, a Serbian Fiat worker has his own way of showing unhappiness - by vandalising 31 unassembled Fiat 500L body shells. The worker scratched profanities and offensive messages aimed at the management of the plant on the cars' bodies . The trade unions commented that the workers had been forced to work long hours and had been denied of cigarette breaks. "It is believed that a single man damaged the cars because the message's handwriting is the same. This is probably due to tough conditions under which the workers operate, the younger ones can bear it but it is very difficult for the older ones. They work in three shifts, under great pressure from management, and the average monthly wage is 34,000 dinars," said Zoran Mihajlovic, President of Fiat Automobili Srbija's trade union. The damaged body shells were re-painted while an investigation has been launched to identify the worker involved.
  11. funny article... but there're some elements of truth in it never mind the creativity, is this a wrong message sent if the Sticker Lady is to be sentenced to prison? that racism is at best warranted a stern warning but for vandalism, prepare to eat black bean rice! and not forgetting the fact that amy cheong is an australian citizen and singapore PR, and yet able to work as a director in NTUC leave a bad taste for many... but that's a different matter
  12. The 2011 Japan Tsunami has caused severe economic repercussions to the Japanese car makers. Now that they have seeming recovered from the disaster, a Tsunami-sized dispute between China and Japan has caused sales of Japanese cars in China to nose dive. Japan and China are at loggerheads over claims to sovereignty of some islands in the East China Sea, known as Diaoyu in China or Senkaku in Japan. This has set off violent protests in China, and a widespread call to boycott Japanese goods. Mitsubishi reported that its China sales plunged 63% to 2,340 vehicles in September while Mazda
  13. I am sure many bros here have encountered ur cars being vandalised and for some of you, even repeated times. im pretty sure theres an increasing amount of such cases happening but probably due to the nature that these cowards are difficult to trace and due to the lack of incentives or lax penalties that leads to insufficient resources allocated to capturing them. i personally am a victim of repeated vandalism, i've repeated to police but seems to no avail, resprayed my car twice before and now my car is 3 yrs old and its still getting vandalised at my house carpark. Suggestions: 1. Higher fines 2. Repeated offenders should be jailed or even caned(as if vandalism on public property) 3. Incentives for people who report and catches these offenders(etc good citizen award..) 4. Campaign on awareness of vandalism These are some of my personal opinions, hope some of the bros would like to share ur views and opinion here. thx
  14. My car ganna sprayed painted by some buggers yesterday afternoon. Didn't even know till late at night until some neighbour told me. When i went down, saw a note that police already came at 1730. Looks like quiet afternoons are not safe for OPCs. Seng Kang people, please take note. And no, i did not purposely blanko my license plate in the pic. It was sprayed painted as well.
