I was also surprised to see no road cyclists on my usual sunday drive to market. Usually I would see at least 2-3 big groups.

 Guess they all chiong yesterday as they don't like to cycle in pairs.

Watched  news last night and the cyclist enthusiasts has voiced out that cycling 2 abreast is safer blar blar blar.

Excuses from self entitled P. Safest is do it on stationary bikes at home. 30 abreast also can if they have a GCB. Just project videos of car cam and install an industrial fan to give that wind in the air feeling. 

It is definitely better for GDP growth.

I don like to carry rubber.. prefer raw.. i meant light! whahahahahahaha..

Singapore small small.. my puncture kit is always Grab.. now plus MASK! 🤣

Just cycle in single file and don't be a nuisance on the road. Period.

Becos will be too tiring leading all the way... Most group will rotate whenever it's safe to do so. 

This month will see mainly 2 cyclists, rotating one another 😅

They can go F rhemselves. Want safer then just ride at home.

For their enjoyment and pleasure at the expense of vehicles on the road.

Just now at Fernvale saw 2 cyclists riding side by side CHATTING.

Yes, I stand by what I've wrote. The problem is, there are cyclists who aren't aware that they can't ride abreast if its a single lane in one direction. 

Anyway, there's only 3 real solutions to the cyclist vs driver debates. It's up to the gov to choose,

1. Mandatory licensing with demerit points system, plating and insurance for all road cyclists to make them legitimate users in the eyes of all motorists; drivers to recognize them as legit road users and should accord them the safe overtaking space and distance thus zero excuse about them don't belonging on roads anymore

 2. No need for licensing with demerit points system, but plates are required for all road cyclists to make them identifiable just as Ebikes. Double the punishment if cyclists get caught running lights or breaking other rules, likewise double the punishment for motorists who failed to interact with cyclists safely or purposely endanger their lives

3. Everything status quo and just concentrate on education and enforcement for a culture shift. In the meantime, wait for new cycling infrastructure to be build hoping to fix the conflict between the cyclists and drivers. 

Personally, I think 1. is the best long term solution for real effective change on our roads. Let's pretend administration costs to enforce and maintain the registry of cyclists are easily managed. 

And, I'm still not supportive of viaducts being open for cyclists. I've explained my viewpoints numerous times in this thread on why I feel so, as there are risks due to speed differences and design of the viaducts. I feel its a fair trade, cyclists to return viaduct space to much faster moving motorists above, in return motorists give you back the road space below.

To fix cyclist problem, it has to be done in its entirety. 

Not just those that use the road as those NOT using the road has a duty of care towards pedestrians.
