  2. From time to time threads will be dissappeared, for what we can only presume are valid reasons - would it be worthwhile noting which threads are made to dissappear and why? perhaps this could also be combined with a reason for bannings or other editing decisions so that we can better understand what is going on?
  3. I realised that there is a "rule" that discourages members from starting new threads if the post has some relevance with an old thread. Members are told to search back the old thread and use the old thread instead. The issue is that how relevant is the intended post with the old thread is pretty much subjective. Hence it causes these problems 1) We read the thread title, thought it was interesting to read , only to see that the thread started many years ago with the new post having very little relevance with the thread title. We end up wasting bandwidth checking that post out. It would have been better serve if the new post was in a new thread instead with a more relevant title. 2) It makes the forum board full of old threads giving an impression that it is not actively participated. Since this forum has been around for a long time, I guess that every new topic will somehow fall into certain relevance with an old thread somewhere.......so over time, it seems that there is no more generation of new threads..only full of old ones. Not sure if anyone realised the above issues.
  4. A review for the threads posted in 2014. 1st: http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2693178-handed-a-case-letter-to-vw-today-blog-updates/ What yours?
  5. I noticed that recently many new topics have been added to the wrong category. I understand that some topics are pretty grey and there may be some confusion when adding new threads. However, straightforward ones such as car grooming, repair & servicing etc should not be finding its way to Lite & EZ and so forth. At the same time car related threads should not end up inside Lite & EZ too. Doesn't warrant a warning but just a reminder to all and also make life easier for the mods. Thank you in advance.
  6. It seems like a fight between the following types, which type you think is most popular? 1. How much pple earn 2. How rich pple are, or how poor 3. FT bashing 4. Gahmen bashing 5. MRT / LTA matters 6. HDB matters 7. Tiko / xmm 8. Lousy drivers - road hogs, tailgaters 9. School priority 10.Car desgin -- new models etc 11.Food 12.Others? Underlying theme in any of the above can be classified into a few broad categories: A. Hao Lian theme B. Anything other themes instead of A or C below C. None of A and B, but angry theme (pai seh for the 'clumsy' classifications)
  7. Was searching for that neo loan shark car rental thread but cant seem to find it... What happen? Mod remove ar? This kind of threads should be make sticky to warn everyone....
  8. Now trains are not certain/safe, taxi fares have gone up, COE is expensive, what's left for the pple? Walk, or cycle? If cars population reduces due to high COE, maybe its time to convert one lane for bicycles? Alternatively: Total ban of private cars in CBD (larger radius than current 'CBD', may be extend the CBD radius to places like Newton Station ie one more station away from current CBD boundary?). Build more fringe carparks (for those insist of driving from home, they park at fringe carparks, then use rental bicycle to reach office), and more private buses (for those who stay far from fringe carpark but dont drive). At these fringe carpark, LTA provides cheap rental bicycle (can be electric bikes also) for commuters to exercise the legs and cycle to their work place. For those who die die must drive into CBD, or take cab into CBD: high ERP which LTA can only use to buy more bicycles for rental. In fact revenues from COE/ERP must be substantially channelled to buy these bicycles, or even build sheltered bicycle lanes and parking stations. Of course our $$$ minded govt/LTA must have a different sets of 'Leaders' to seriously consider this system which benefits the pple instead of the elites. We all know how to change the leaders..... but will we, comes next GE? Its up to us.
  9. Think twice before posting your thoughts on the Internet. Parry Liu, a foreign student from Beijing, China currently studying at the National University of Singapore (NUS), on Tuesday published a controversial comment regarding Singaporean students. On the popular Chinese social networking platform Ren Ren, Parry Liu posted in Chinese, "There is a lesson we can learn from the recent Singapore vs China soccer match -- and we can apply that into our (university) final exam. No matter what, do not give up, because there is always a Singaporean student who will perform worse than us." His remark attracted hundreds of comments from netizens on forums and social networking sites, most of them negative although some users agreed with him. 27-year-old business manager Leroy Lim said it is very irresponsible for PRC students like Liu to make such a remark about Singaporean students, especially when the university final exam is around the corner. "It's inappropriate for him to publish such a comment on a social networking site, particularly when the final exam is nearing. Furthermore, his Chinese peers might perceive we Singaporeans as inferior and academically-disinclined, as compared to the students from China," he told Yahoo! Singapore. However, a few locals think what Parry said was rather accurate, and that we Singaporeans should accept that fact. "This is hard truth, and indeed the high-achieving students are usually from China and few from local," said Ng Wei Jun, a 23-year-old engineering student from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). In a later post published last night, Parry said he regretted posting such a foolish remark. "I agree. My sensitive remark has caused major dissatisfactions among the local community, and I sincerely apologise," he published on his Ren Ren blog. Parry Liu has since deactivated his Ren Ren and Facebook account. Yahoo! Singapore has reached out to him, but he declined to comment. The writer is a 17-year-old student and technology blogger who loves social media and gadgets. He is also Singapore's top Twitter user with over 220,000 followers.
  10. Hi, My gr-90 are 40k km old now. All the tyres' side thread (lateral grooves) looks bald. Is this normal due to the thread pattern ? Or under inflation ? The circumferential grooves are still deep at about 40% left. Please comment. TIA !
  11. Seems like a few threads have been disappearing lately - or is it just my imagination?

  16. As one of forummers who contribute both okay and mostly "bo-liaos" thread in this folder, Lite & EZ & Complaints. I raise my hands and say I am guilty at some of them. I'm just wondering how many Bros & Sis here kinda tulan at some of the threads or find them bottom of your list. Care to share? I'm sure this will also help the moderators to observe which is good and not good for MCF. for me ... - Threads from Stomp (People posting in stomp already boliao, still copypaste and post here?? But I am gulity of it once, heehee) - Bro Meecar's threads (I can never understand why he's always so depressed about life. Is life really that sucky?? ) Please add on this list so that we can self-realise what to post and what not to. After all, memory space is not bottomless for MCF site! BUT REMEMBER .... no offensive or direct shooting at fellow forummers (you can point out the thread I'm sure the bros/sis here is okay), just sharing our thoughts here.
  17. As above, I notice that posts are "disappearing" rather frequently. I remember I was following up on a thread on Pxx Hxxg just yesterday but now that I want to follow up on this thread, I can't find it anymore. There are definitely a few threads that I was following up recently but seems to have suddenly "disappeared". At first I thought that I could have been dreaming & that I read the threads at some other forums but this is happening too frequently enough to confirm my suspicions. Anyone facing this problem at MCF? Or is it only me? Can anyone advise?
  18. Hi Admin and Mods, Please trim the list of stickies in all folders. When the list gets unnecessarily long, that renders the navigational bar at the side useless as it presents only the sticky threads and a couple of latest ones.
  19. Hi all, I am really irritated by the last 15 threads box on the left of my screen which covers the avatars. Is it just me or you feel the same way too ?
  20. Hello Admin or whoever, Just a suggestion. I realise that there is a advert banner at the bottom of the message threads. I think it will be nicer to pop or open another window whenever that advert banner is click so that ppl can always revert back to the MCF page they were currently in after they close that other window. Hope you understand what I am trying to say....
  21. Dear MCF Users, We are pleased to announced a new enhancement that we have made to the forums which will aid navigation throughout the site. If you are using Internet Explorer, in each thread you will find a small vertical bar on the left hand side of your browser. This vertical bar will follow you even if you scroll down the page. (Refer to graphic below). When you move your mouse over this bar, it will open up and show you a list of all the threads in this forum, plus useful information like whether there are unread messages in any of the threads. You can click on any of these threads and it will bring you there immediately. This allows you to easily navigate to the next thread. Have fun!
