  1. cos our TP commander Sam Tee drives a Toyota Altis.......
  2. My Lancer EX 1.5A has stalled twice recently (once today and once last week). Both times, the car stalled when moving off after stopping at a junction. I did not change gears away from D and kept my foot on the brakes at the junction. I quickly switched to neutral and cranked the engine - no problems in starting it. Any clue what could be wrong? Spark plugs need to change? Cam shaft sensor? Thank you in advance. *Car is 7 years old and I've driven about 120k km. Spark plugs have not been changed before.
  3. Just came back from servcing, ws say my MIt colt left front brake is wearing twice as quick as the right. Any idea what wrongs The ws say is clipper and skimming the rotor as to fix the issue. Any experince Thanks for reading.
  4. Hi all, I wonder if any of you experienced this situation. I was exiting Shaw Centre carpark and the gantry did not open. Actually money was already deducted from my cashcard, but I didn't notice it. A lady from the control room came out and asked me for my cashcard. She slot it into the machine and the gantry opened. Later I realised I was deducted twice. 2 days later I called up the carpark operator and was told they only saw 1 successful deduction from their system and they will inform NETS to call me regarding the refund. So funny right? In this IT high tech age, their systems are not even connected? I just hope the refund will not be too troublesome. Lesson learned : If met with similar situation, I will not pass my cashcard to any staff just to open the gantry.

  6. He had sex with his 14-year-old girlfriend, got her pregnant and was jailed for four weeks when he could not pay his fine. But within a month of getting out of jail, he got the same girl pregnant again. Now 16, she has two sons by him and her family is helping her raise them. The youth, now 22 and a full-time national serviceman, was sentenced to four months' jail on Monday for his second offence of having sex with a minor. He cannot be named to protect the girl's identity. The court heard that they met in 2009, when he was 20 and she was 14. They had sex and she became pregnant. She gave birth to a baby boy in December 2010, when she was 15. He was fined $4,000 for having sex with her, and another similar charge was taken into consideration. He could not pay the fine, so he went to jail. After he was released from prison in February last year, he contacted the girl. The court heard that they were still in a relationship then. Within that month, he took the girl to his Yishun flat when no one was home and they had sex. The girl became pregnant again and in November last year, gave birth to their second baby. http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_761201.html

  8. Abt 6mth ago, sent my 6plus yo car to a w/s in Sin Ming to check sound coming from undercarriage. Was told need to leave car in w/s to do thru check. Before i left, told them to let me know what need to be done and cost so i can decide as dont want to spent much in an old car. After 2 days, w/s told me car ok ready for collection. Was a bit surprised and put off cos they never told me what they did before going ahead. Got a big bill when collected car...replaced one pair front suspensions, front brake pads, amoung other small items. I asked why so ex and was told original parts so not cheap. Anyway did not argue cos told myself will not come back to this place again. What was shocking was while driving home, the exact same sound was still there! Wonder they actually check or not? Call them and was told to bring car back. Left it there another day. When i collect car next day asked why they didnt check properly and what they did this time round. Was told they replace 2 rubber bushes. They didnt charge me this time as i express disappoint after just paid so much. So the actual problem was the rubber bushes then why change brake pads, suspensions, linkage, etc? On my way home again heard some noise but this time soft squicking noise coming from my left front side. Not the same before which was 'clock clock'. Drove back to w/s again and after checking told me its the left drive shaft problem. was told can still drive till both sides problem then change together. Trusted them but its my mistake. After 3 mth the squicky sound get louder and louder. Was busy so just keep driving till abt 6mth later the sound was getting seriously loud. Fearing that the drive shaft may cause more problems and even danger, went to a drive shaft specialist w/s to check. Was surprised when told the drive shaft was not the cos of the noise but the left suspension! was shown oil already leaking out from the left suspension. Went back to the first w/s who replaced the suspensions and was told will settle it for me. Another big disappointment when i was given a big bill for replace the suspensions again. Expressed my disappointment and after reasoning they asked me to pay the 2 new suspensions price. Paid and will never engage them again hoping no further problem from their shoddy works again after this. My qns ... 1) Why consumer has to pay for wrong diagnosis?... replacement of unnecessary parts like brake pads, suspensions, linkage, etc. Is this a way to inflate repair cost since they cannot charge much for a simple repair? 2) They said cannot claim from supplier for the faulty suspension. I can understand since its been so long. But they were the one who make not one but two wrong diagnosis saying it was the draft shaft after all. So how can consumer bear all the responsibility? They are the expert and I trusted them. 3) If w/s replace a part and the part breaks down almost immediately. Shd consumer blame on his bad luck and bears all the cost for another replacement since no warranty for spare parts? 4) How will u react when w/s cannot follow simple instructions eg let you know the costs or parts required before proceeding? Do you think they hv no intention to inform you since its not to their advantage if they do? Or is this a common practice in the car repair industries? 5) Is it right that for this case, they need to change 2 front suspensions again instead of only the left? They just said that cos the suspension always come in a pair so got to replace both at the same time? 6) In the above instance, is it fair that i bear the part costs and workshop absorb the labour cost for the 2nd replacement of suspension? I treat this as a lesson. But what would u do if u were me? I think i need to bear some responsiblities as well. But anything one can do to prevent this?

  10. Another alleged assault case by foreigners... Kena twice some more. Not another non-seizable offence again please!!! From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...on_my_chin.html Posted on 14 Nov 2011 STOMPer attacked twice by guy who snatched cab he had booked STOMPer SeekingJustice says he was assaulted by a Caucasian man who had apparently snatched the cab the STOMPer had booked. The STOMPer told STOMP in an email today (Nov 14): "Last Saturday (Nov 12) at about 0115 hrs, after finishing the night catching up with friends along Neil Road, I was waiting for a cab that my friend had booked for me. "The taxi arrived and stopped at approximately 30m away from my said location. As I ran towards the taxi, I saw two middle aged Caucasians entering it. I reached out for the cab door and opened it, and asked the two gentlemen to alight as it was the taxi that was booked for me. "One of them then became angry and agitated. Both alighted the taxi, with much displeasure and sparked off an argument with me. "One of them landed a punch to my left cheek, knocking my spectacles off in the process. "I subsequently dialed 999 and tailed them, as they simply walked away! I followed them along Neil Road towards Cantonment Road. "Somewhere after Bukit Pasoh, the same guy landed an upper cut to my chin which chipped off my molar and left a bruise. "He carried on walking and soon we reached Cantonment Police Station (I guess he didn't know his way around). "I immediately got the attention of the police officer and his particulars were taken down while I made an official police report inside the station. "I had just filed a Magistrate's Complaint on Monday and I'm now waiting for further notice. "I would also like to thank the kind soul, whom I didn't have the chance to get his name, who came to my assistance. "I hereby appeal for witnesses to come forward if you happen to be at the vicinity of Neil Road car park, at 0120 hrs on 12th Nov 11."
  11. It was in Feb 2010 when I purchased a Fiat Panda. Yes, it came with lousy 13" steel rims with covers. Like any other car enthusiast, I set off to look for a set of sport rims. To my dismay, the PCD is 4x98 and there was close to nothing available lest I wanna go the 4x100 route. When someone in the Fiat forum mentioned that he saw a set of Gunmetal coloured Bravo Rims, I set off to that shop which is the largest in the Lavendar vicinity. It was CNY eve then. I went in, took a cursory glance at the rims and said ok to fix em with new tyres from TW. I gave them 40 mins as I needed to walk to the food court nearby and buy lunch. When I returned everything was done and I left thinking everything would be ok. I hope my rant here will help bros here to be more street wise and not make the same mistake I did.... here are my problems.... A month on, I went to fix a new set of springs at Ah Man. I told the guys that I just changed new tyres and rims and the mechanic said... 'What? with 2006 tyres??'. My instant reaction was, of course, WTF??? I went to inspect and lo and behold, it was really manufactured in 2006! How could someone have sold me tyres which is effectively close to 5 years old??? After Ah Man, I went straight down to the shop. The towkay neo gave 1001 excuses and said she will give me personal warranty etc. Never mind, I told myself suak. Forward the story... I sold my ride to a good friend and today he called me. He went to Stamford to balance wheels and do alignment. The 2nd shocker came. He was told that 2 of the 4 rims were warped badly and were definitely involved in a bad crash. There u go, got fugged once was bad enuff but this time I got snooked twice! Kan TL. Mind u, my rims are scuffed free and I have not knocked it anywhere, not even against the kerb! So guys, Rule #1, check the manufacture date of the tyres u r gonna buy. Rule #2, if u r purchasing used rims, make sure u r there when they do balancing to see if its wobbly which denote that it is warped. As a car enthusiast, I felt I have screwed up myself by letting my guard down. I dont want anyone to get screwed like me. So, beware esp this rather huge shop near Lavendar. p.s. this was also the shop that blatantly told me that my Evo X's Volk Racing RE030 Formula Limited rims sucks compared to their Rota Grid rims. Talk about being objective.
  12. Think twice before you speed By S Ramesh | Posted: 07 June 2011 0956 hrs SINGAPORE: The Police have started trials of a new mobile automated vehicle screening system. The system is used to capture vehicle registration plates using special digital cameras for identifying vehicles of interest. These include vehicles reported stolen or involved in criminal activities. The cameras are mounted on top of police vehicles and is able to read vehicle registration plates while the police vehicle is stationary during road blocks or on the move during patrols. Police say the new system cuts down manual recording processes and improves productivity. The new system was exhibited at the Police workplan seminar on Tuesday. - CNA/ck http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1133665/1/.html
  13. I just recd a TP summon for parking within 9 metres of a bus stop at Hougang Ave 8 which I did not commit. Few month ago, I recd a summon for parking along // yellow line at Whampoa Road which I did not commit. For the earlier summon, I went to TP HQ and made a complaint and recd a letter from TP apologizing for a DATA ERROR. (I still have the letter from TP with me.) I wish to point out that the moment I entered the room, I questioned the POLICE SERGEANT that were there cases that summons were wrongly issued. His reply was a very firm "POSSIBLE" I will make another trip to TP HQ to file another complaint for this new summon. The BIG QUESTION now is : 1) Is there a car with a FAKE NOS PLATE that is similar to mine? 2) How RELIABLE are these OUT-SOURCED TRAFFIC WARDENS ??? Any bros here who encountered similar problems?
