  1. By now, we should all know both the BMW Z4 M40i and Toyota Supra share the same engine and have nearly the same amount of power. So which is faster in a straight line? According to BMW, the Z4 puts out 340bhp while Toyota claims that its Supra makes do with 'just' 335bhp. Both cars are using the same ZF-manufactured eight-speed automatic gearbox and both wear the same Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres. So with only a 40kg difference in weight, this race should be a close one right? Watch the video below by Carwow and see the answer for yourself!
  2. Based on Renault's history, we can probably guess that there will be more hardcore versions of the Megane R.S. even after the Trophy variant. And spotted on the Nuburgring recently by Carscoops, it does really seemed like Renault is working on a new flagship for its hot hatch. Likely to be called the Trophy-R like the previous generation Megane, the new one comes with a a vented bonnet with a big bump in the middle that might mean something. Meanwhile, the red accent on its front bumper is very similar to the old Trophy-R and the car spied on the Green Hell has its LED running lights deleted, presumably to cater for some sort of cooling for the brakes or engine. From the side, we can see new wheels plus larger brakes and a large white tape that probably camouflages its decals. As for the interior, the spy photographers manage to reveal a red steel bar where the rear seats should be, reaffirming the possibility of the prototype being the Megane RS Trophy-R. Being the most track-focused variant, the car will likely be the lightest but unknown whether the car will get more power or any other handling upgrades.

  4. China passport holders to get automated clearance at immigration ... So, looks like automated will not be faster anymore from 16 Nov onwards .... and with this increase in numbers, would this cause inconvenience to us, Singaporeans? Only time will tell ... http://www.todayonline.com/singapore/china-passport-holders-get-automated-clearance-immigration SINGAPORE — From Nov 16, eligible Chinese citizens will be able to use the enhanced immigration automated clearance system (eIACs) service at Singapore’s checkpoints, announced the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) today (Nov 6). China passport holders above the age of six are eligible to enrol for the automated service. They must also hold a valid five-year (or longer) Multiple Journey Visa issued by Singapore and have visited Singapore at least three times in the preceding 12 months, Enrolment is on a voluntary service and is free of charge. Interested applicants should bring their passport (with remaining validity of at least six months), one recent colour passport-size photograph and other relevant documents to the enrolment centres located at Changi Airport, Woodlands Checkpoint, Tuas Checkpoint and the ICA Building to apply for this service. Those aged between six and 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and present documentary proof of relationship. The ICA said the move will provide greater travel convenience for Chinese visitors and facilitate trade, business and tourism links between Singapore and China. Currently the service is also available to Australian and Hong Kong citizens, as well as Malaysian citizens who are assessed to be eligible under the Frequent Traveller Programme at the time of application.
  5. Happy new YEar! I got 3 radio clocks (those plug into wall supply) of different brand at home. Everytime after tallying the time with my handphone, few weeks later 3 of them sure go faster than the actual time. Even the radio clocks at my cousin's home also behaving the same thing.... it can go as fast as 20mins from the actual time. Anyone have the same problem? Is it cause for the supply frequency of our wall outlet which should be 50hz right?

But IMO should give cash better...then go buy my drumstick...oops! http://www.todayonline.com/sports/activesg100-singaporeans-play-sport ActiveSG$100 for Singaporeans to play sport SINGAPORE — Singaporeans and permanent residents who are ActiveSG members will each receive ActiveSG$100 to sign up for sports programmes and utilise facilities at the various ActiveSG Sports Centres islandwide. This was announced by Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong at the official launch of ActiveSG, a national drive to make sports more accessible, relevant and affordable here, at the Jurong West Sports Centre today (Apr 26). Already, 30,000 people have activated their membership. “Singaporeans from all walks of life, regardless of age, skill level, or physical ability can lead an active lifestyle through sports. They can come together to learn, train, compete in a range of sports,” said Mr Wong. “We will credit all ActiveSG members with ActiveSG$100 to help kick-start their fitness routine. I hope that Singaporeans will come onboard to embrace this movement and share this with their family and friends too so that we can all get active and Live Better Through Sport.” Also present at the launch were Singapore National Olympic Council Vice-President and International Olympic Committee Finance Commission chief Ng Ser Miang, and Richard Seow, Chairman of Sport Singapore — formerly known as the Singapore Sports Council. Rebranded from the “Super Sports Club” concept under Vision 2030, the long-term blueprint for sports in Singapore, ActiveSG aims to create a sporting ecosystem that provides innovative and experiential sports-related programmes at sports centres islandwide. Registered ActiveSG members will enjoy benefits, including priority booking of facilities and complimentary trial classes. These can be done through its new Membership Management System (MMS). Members can also use the MMS as a network to form interest groups, signing up for social events, forming sports leagues and zonal affiliation for members. ActiveSG will also be the sole provider of new fitness programmes into Singapore such as Piloxing and Masala Bhangra to meet the rising demand for studio fitness regimes, while ActiveSG Sports Centres will eventually include additional facilities and services, including Aqua Spinning for a cycling workout that uses water resistance, and Flippa Ball, a modiified version of water polo for children. To help promote ActiveSG, open houses will also be held from 9am to 6pm at the Sengkang Sports Centre on Sunday (Apr 27), Yio Chu Kang Sports Centre (May 3), Bishan Sports Centre (May 4) and the Pasir Ris Sports Centre (May 10). Singaporeans and permanent residents can sign-up as an ActiveSG member via www.myactivesg.com or at any of the Sports Centres islandwide.
  7. When I was 10, time seemed to go by so slowly. I had all the time in the world to do what I wanted. January seemed to never end. Though, December did seem to pass by a little faster than January did in that year. But, it was soon January again, time for school, time for friends, time for new learning. Right now, time passed us by so fast. LKY's passing was more than a month ago. I had not much idea what happened to April. Time. It seems not to be constant, but yet, all our instruments tell us that it is. A second is always a second. A year is always a year. Or is it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNgyEmYyQF4

  10. Public transport in Singapore: Ride bicycle is faster. According to 'Average cycling speed' road-bike.co.uk [link]: "Average cycling speed - indications... some general guidelines, all for solo riders on general 'mixed' terrain (ie rolling hills about 30% of the time, and pretty flat the rest of the time): Beginner, short distance (say 10-15 miles): average speed 12 mph. Most cyclists can achieve 10-12 mph (16.09 - 19.31kph) average very quickly with limited training. ..." The TODAY news report (appended bottom): "Minister of State for Transport Josephine Teo revealed ... bus speeds have gone down from 19.1kmh in 2007 to 17.8kmh...." Given that a "more experienced" cyclist can maintain an average speed of 25kph over a "short-medium distance of 20-30miles" (32 - 48km), and that cycling is a healthy sport, not just physically but also environmentally, (in so far that protection is worn and rules are obeyed), the current situation of slow bus timings, snail paced traffic, single occupant cars etc, it would probably be time, I think for a major public transport revamp/ re-think in the making. ========== Bus hubs currently the priority and good progress made: Josephine Teo 04:45 AM Jan 18, 2012 by Sumita Sreedharan SINGAPORE - Bus speeds have decreased slightly because of an increase in ridership, Minister of State for Transport Josephine Teo revealed in Parliament yesterday. Responding to Chua Chu Kang GRC MP Alex Yam, who had asked about the progress in improving bus speeds, Mrs Teo said bus speeds have gone down from 19.1kmh in 2007 to 17.8kmh, as ridership went up from 2.9 million per day to 3.45 million per day in the same time. "As more buses are introduced to cater to this increase, this would have caused buses to wait a longer time at bus stops to accommodate increased passenger boarding and alighting activities," explained Mrs Teo. To address this, the Land Transport Authority had announced recently that 35 bus stops would be expanded into bus hubs by the end of next year, allowing more buses to berth at bus bays for simultaneous boarding and alighting. This would reduce the average time each bus spends at bus stops, improving speeds and the journey times for commuters. Pressed by Mr Yam to elaborate on the schemes under study by the ministry, Mrs Teo said the 35 bus hubs are currently the priority project and "good progress" has been made. Mr Yam also suggested that longer, wider trunk roads be installed across the central median to reduce the incidence of left-turning vehicles blocking the buses that are going straight. Mrs Teo said this would be considered. Nee Soon GRC MP Lee Bee Wah brought up the issue of bus drivers' unfamiliarity with bus routes, asking if measures have been taken to address this. Mrs Teo attributed the problem to "occasions where there are services that need to be improved very quickly", and buses need to be pumped in; hence drivers are deployed on unfamiliar routes. Having more bus drivers trained across different routes would help but this would take time to implement as operators would need to pull drivers from their regular services for training, she said. Nonetheless, she stressed that the issue is being "taken seriously" and the bus system must become "more flexible" and "more responsive" to the need for bus services. 11. Yesterday driving on the CTE saw a white Lexus SUV cutting in & out of traffic at high speeds. He was going from lane 1 to lane 4, and back again to lane 1 repeating this all the way until I lost sight of him. Also Tailgating cars all the way and swerving in/out into small gaps. It was really dangerous and arrogant driving Is it common to see such extreme cases? (usually see people just switch between lane 1 & 2) Will the Traffic Police do anything if they see this, or is it ok to drive like that?
  12. Hossan Leong, a Singapore radio personality for The Gold Breakfast Show on Gold 90.5, was censured today for reporting on train delays on the Circle Line because he based the information on Tweets, rather than waiting for the official reports from the Circle Line operator, SMRT. It is, however, unknown if the "warning" came from Mediacorp producers or SMRT. Tweeted Hossan Leong, The SMRT Circle Line was reported to be down this morning during peak hours and started as early as 7am. However, local news only received official statement was received by the mainstream media at about 9am. It seem like the fault started as early as 6.40am. One of the biggest problem with SMRT in communicating delays is that they seem to prefer official statements which requires time for approval. By the time, it is disseminated, passengers will be already by stuck at the stations. There are also no warning signs to inform passengers that the Circle Line is down or experiencing delays before they enter the station or decide to make the transfer. One tweet wrote that he was given wrong information by the control station staff that the Circle Line was working only to be stuck in the station with announcements that it was down and delay was expected. Singaporeans also have given the Circle Line a new definition - CIRCLE LINE = Constantly In Repair & Construction, Leaving Everyone Late, Irritated, N Enraged. With the advent of 3G and cheap mobile smartphone, can't SMRT invest in a few hundred dollars and creating a team to inform passengers via social networks to reduce frustration? Furthermore, with share buttons, the social media space can help spread the message faster than mass media. Link

  18. I am previously using water wetter and tap water. Decide to change it to Motul additive and distilled water because some of my hoses seems to leak with WW. I realise than my water temp now rises to the middle point faster than using WW. Is this normal? Cause it could mean 2 things, better heat transfer or engine producing more heat (due to friction, oil pump problem?).
