  1. hi, if you are using eg, 15" tyres for yr ride, and yr spare tyre is just 14". will be there any problem if i got a puncture, and forced to use the spare tyre?
  2. 1. I wonder whether there is a specific weight ratio between Rims and Tyres? For example, a 7 kg rim should be matched by a tyre weight of not more than 7kg. 3. By looking at magzines, it also seems to suggest that the ideal weight ratio between rim and inch should be: (Rim size -10)/weight of rim). For example, (17-10/7)=1. Hence if a 17" rim is 8kg is overweight by 1 kg. What do you guys think? Regards,
  3. Yesterday morning, my fuel indicator was at "E" and the fuel light hasn't come on yet, so I pumped at Shell Yishun and expect to pump approx 48-50 litres based on experience..... ....... to my shock the attendant managed to pump in 58 litres! I thought either my fuel indicator/light has gone bonkus, or my FC is rediculous. But till today, I've travelled 100+km and my indicator is still beyond the "F" mark..... so I think this confirms that the attendant pumped in too much. So my question is: How much can the Optra tank actually hold?
  4. As per the topic, could those familiar kindly enlighten the effects of using wrongly gapped sparkplugs? For e.g. using a 1.1mm instead of 0.8mm gap. Thanks.

  6. Hi All, Driving a Corolla G9 1.5 AT. Recently read from some other forums, regarding upgrading the size for the exhaust pipe from the catalyst to rear muffer, from original size of 1.25" to 1.75" for Corolla G9 AT. Alot of people commented after doing the mod, the car is more responsive, and there is improvements for mid and high end. So far have not read negative comments about this mod. Can any experts can help to comment about any negative effects for this mod? Negative effects like loss in pickup, increase in FC? Currently the G9 is only having z-stab, magnets on fuel line and 6-points grounding. Tempted to do this mod, as want to improve the car's response time to do short sprinting on expressway for overtaking purpose. Thanks in advance.
  7. As the title have stated it, do anyone know whether is it 5 1/2 or 6 1/2? Also which low end component speaker will you guys recommend? On a tight budget here.

  10. Jus curious to ask, can the lug ring size on the rim be changed? Some cars uses bigger lug/nuts than others and if the 4 or 5 ring holes on the rim are too small, can they be drilled to make it bigger ? any danger?
  11. In case some of you are wondering, I am talking about car battery size. Today my battery (maintenance free) decide to suddenly die ... no warning one Changed battery today ... the maintenance free type again .... german brand "HOS...." from C.A.S. The new one is smaller in size than the older one ...... it does not have any indication of the capacity of the battery like the older one (that says 62AH) ... the service engineer there says it's ok no problem. Wonder if smaller size equals to smaller AH capacity also ? Does it make a different in this case if the AH is smaller ? I do not use too much stuff like ICE when engine is off ... only cabin light, alarm and to start the car of course. Does it really matter since the alternator will take over once you start the car ? By the way, what is the normal life span of the maintenance free battery ? 2, 3 or 4 years in Singapore climate ?
  12. Ok... here I go again... Anybody know?
  13. After changing my stock tire to the above size for more than a month, past few days find that the car pick up was a bit slow, especially when moving off in front of the traffic light. This morning b4 coming to work, I went to the petrol station & pump in 225kpa for both the front & rear tire & find that the pick up is much better now. As the car manual only indicated the recommended tire pressure for the stock size 175/65R14 as 210kpa for both the front & rear, so am wondering whether did I pump in the correct pressure or not
  14. I thought that the size of the two wipers on my car windscreen is the same until I measured them and found out that one is 20" long while the other 19". Is it a fact then that the length of our windscreen wipers are not the same? This is my first ride, hence the question. TIA.

  18. Rim Size/Wt /Tyre Size/Wt 1. Taiwan 17''/7J/9.6KG / Yokohama AVS ES100 205/40/17/8.9KG
  19. My current stock tyres are 205/65R15 and thinking of upgrading to a 16" rims, but got different feedbacks from different tyres companies.... So basically seeking the Bros here on their opinions on this.... For 215/55R16, the width of the tyres is bigger therefore more contact area with the ground during dry weather, but increase chances of skidding during wet weather... Not sure whether it will increase the fuel economy??? Check out this website @ http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html for more info... Thanks !!
  20. Just kinda curious...does the brake rotor size matters? Cos i have been looking at japanese made 2000cc cars..and their rotors are reali so small...kinda doubt their braking ability...whereas mondeo's rotor size is huge at 300mm front and 280mm back..which i tink shld be powerful brakes?please comment
  21. What is the correct air pressure for 195/55R15 tyres? I'm driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer. Thinking of using bigger rims. What is the max size rims a Lancer can use? Any side effects in using bigger rims?

  23. Hi to all, Was reading about this mod where one can increase the size of the throttlebody to get more air into the engine so as to produce more power. E.g. DC5 TB increase from 60mm to 62mm by simply bored out ... Spoon TB just simply expand the connecting pipe (where the plastic attached), so the TB is still 60mm, but the intake is tapered ... thus producing extra 6hp !!! Does it really help by that few mm ?
  24. Hi Guys and Gals, I need you to vote on the Date which you feel you will be able to come for Size testing and payment of the Tees. Do take note that if you choose 13 or 14 Feb, that means the shirt will only be ready at a later Date. The reason why I choose Bishan Golf Driving Range is because it have a bigger and most important, FREE Carpark. We will close the voting on Monday, 3 Feb, 5pm. And the final Date will be announce after that. NOTE: I have attached the Order list, for your reference. Cheers and have a wondeful Chinese New Year. MCF Polo Shirt 10Jan03.xls
