  1. Are China car companies finally catching up to the koreans? http://jalopnik.com/this-is-the-suv-china-thinks-westerners-will-buy-1661123637 This is the Qoros 3 SUV Before anyone writes this off as another all show no go. The Qoros 3 sedan scored a 5 star NCAP safety rating in 2013 and had one of the overall highest scores of the year. BUt of course, let's not kid ourselves, there is the huge barrier of perception, especially here in Asia where even Korean makes have to compete on the price / value for money front instead of the lust factor. Will China finally be able to come in and compete with Koreans now?
  2. Anyone has any model to recommend ? - HD recording - Clear recording at night or dim lighting - Can record people scratching, of course when car is parked with engine off. Blackvue or Thinkware better??? Or any better brand? Which model?
  3. Those standing beside their car holding the speed gun, do they record and send letters later or their main function is to check from speed gun, those exceed will then give chase and issue summon on the spot? I know those caught by overhead bridge ones will be issued letters, so what about those by the roadside?
  4. They say imitation is the highest form of compliment. I heard about the news on BBC radio. Their MP also claim higher pay is to prevent corruption. Link http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-22690820 Kenyan MPs have voted to raise their salaries in defiance of proposals to cut pay. The vote suggests a monthly salary of about $10,000 (
  5. Was driving along Clementi Ave 2 just now heading towards the AYE (ECP) exit. After the bus stop that is just before the exit to AYE, i saw an officer (same like those who enforce bus lane) hiding behind a tree and squatting down with a camera pointed towards the junction which exits to AYE. There is no bus lane there. Any idea what he is trying to catch? Why need to squat down? Normally bus lane enforcers are standing up. Anyway the only thing i can think of is he is catching people who don't signal when taking the exit? Can it be?
  6. No need pics, let me just describe it...... Recently saw a few matt black cars with about 5-6 individual decals on the rear bumper.... nothing unusual except these decals have a light-coloured cross pasted over each of them.... and at nite, these crosses stand out as the light-color crosses in daylight turn into luminous RED crosses when the headlight of the cars behind shine on them!!! Are anyone using such decals+luminous crosses?? or seen them?
  7. Becareful bros .. http://www.limsimi.com/johor-bahru-news-in...in-johor-bahru/ As you might be aware by now, it is against the law in Malaysia for a Singaporean to top-up the petrol tank using RON95 petrol, as this grade of petrol is subsidized for Malaysians only. Recently, 4 Singaporean motorists had been caught topping up their fuel tank at a Mobile petrol station along Tebrau highway
  8. STOMPer hiranmaya spotted traffic wardens prowling the streets of Chinatown for jaywalkers. Said the STOMPer: "I saw traffic wardens catching jaywalkers opposite Pearl Centre traffic light crossing. "Most of the time people are seen crossing when the red light is on, especially the elderly folk. "They are often seen doing such things. "The festive season is approaching, thus, people should be more careful."
  9. Gentlemen. There is someone who attempted to break into my dad's cab last sat. He left dents at the window seal area in his futile attempt to break in. A police report was made but my dad got the sop reply that they will patrol more. Load of BS. On sunday, my dad called me and told me he noticed new dents, this time, at the passenger side. On monday, he got them fixed. Today, he called me again and he noticed new scratches at the same area again. Now ... if he did it once, I think I can let it go. The 2nd time ... I cannot tahan liao. My purpose is to ask what you guys will do? How will you attempt to catch him in the act? How many people do you think is enough to have a proper stake out? What time is the best to do the stake out? How will you hide? What equipment will you bring? Finally, my dad has nothing expensive on display in his cab. He removes his cashcard every night. At the most, he has a pair of cheapo tweeters and 1 ionizer on display, plus a pouch where he keeps his coins, just coins, no cash. Any out of the box ideas will be greatly appreciated. I just don't trust that the MIB will step up their patrol. I need to catch this b@stard myself.
  10. these few days when i was driving towards Tuas on PIE,i always saw a video camera mounted on a tripod that focus on oncoming vehicles. it wasn't very obvious until you have to drive so near then you can see it provided you take notice of the overhead bridge. if you really speed,by the time you notice it,you should be already on candid camera. i beieve they should have snapped alot of speedsters especially that stretch alot of people loves to speed. then when heading back towards city at the same overhead bridge but different direction, from some distance if you took notice, you can actually see 2 blue umbrellas. upon driving closer,it is actually 2 officers sitting on a chair taking cover and again beside them was another video camera mounted on a tripod focus on on coming vehicles.
  11. Yesterday along upp bukit timah road, near courts there. Always slow down at that area. Didnt see any cop on top. So drove normally. Then i spotted a white ant standing on the steps of the bridge. He was taking his camera and snapping vehicles from behind. So watch out!
  12. Went JB this afternoon for my favourite Ba Kut Teh with a friend. Left woodlands checkpoint @ around 1245. Proceed to new CIQ building, on the way passby the old custom. I reach the place of makan v long then my friend arrive. He complained he was caught for illegal mods at the old custom. Police officer stopped him inside the old custom, telling him that his exhaust pipe is illegal. He is using fujitsubo with cert by LTA. explained to the office but was rejected, reason- singapore approve but not JB. He was issued a summon. He also has tinting which fails, both in SG n MY. While giving summon, he overheard another police officer who stopped a RX8 telling the driver..."sir, your rim is too shiny....." OMG.... i guess PI stream with privacy glass would start to face problem again over in JB if these officers some catching without proper reason. IF JPJ were to catch SG cars with illegal mods, i hope LTA would also ban MY wiras with milo tin...

  14. How to time traffic lights so that u don't have to stop at all? assuming u are going straight along major roads, e.g. bukit timah road. in HDB estates, this is relevant too.. but i can't seem to get it right many times.. cos i understand that the lights are programmed to allow smooth flow of traffic, i.e "green wave". some bro in another thread recommended 50-60km/h. that got me thinking...
