  1. New Renault Clio 2019 unveiled with stunning new interior ahead of official launchhttps://www.express.co.uk/life-style/cars/1079285/New-Renault-Clio-2019-launch-interior-car RENAULT has unveiled the interior of the all-new Clio - Here’s what’s changed in the radical new update.Renault has unveiled the all-new Clio hatchback which has received a number of updates an upgrades. Most notably among the changes is the awesome revamped interior which is a vast improvement compared to previous generations. Immediately the vehicle looks more high-end and premiums due to the new refined interior layout with obvious improvements in the technology, seating, and overall design. At the centre of the dashboard is the Smart Cockpit, the 9.3-inch multimedia screen (twice as large as the 7-inch version) is the biggest ever on a Renault model. It is a vertical screen and is more contemporary than some of the integrated units in its rivals. This central screen comprises the multimedia, navigation and infotainment features. Renault has also apparently used more premium soft-touch materials on the redesigned dashboard which has been reshaped to give the impression of more space and width in the Clio. The centre console is also higher and features a smaller gear lever all of which, in conjunction with the newly redesigned seats is for ergonomics. There is also a myriad of customisation options which allows the vehicle to be specified in a number of different colours to match the exterior. While the interior has been extensively updated the exterior has been left relatively unchanged. It is a minor evolutionary upgrade with tiny alterations to the grille and bumper. The body has been lowered by up to 30 mm for better aerodynamics and extra athleticism and the car can be specified with 17-inch wheels (depending on version). Other added details include the shark fin antenna, the 100 per cent LED lights, the flush tailgate, and the chrome-plated side-window surrounds. Two new exterior body colours are available now which are Valencia Orange and Celadon Blue, which join another eight body colours and three exterior customisation packs. Clio will make its official public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

    Renault Clio 1.2 16v

Was at Ubi the other day and got some time to kill so decided to test drive the new Renault Clio 1.2 16v. Odometer before I test drive was 647 km so rather new. Motoring (Nov Issue) had a rather good write-out on this car and having test drove the earlier Clio 1.4 16v, approached the car with anticipation. Interior had been made more simple (read: cost cutting measure as usual) but still feels rather cosy. When I pulled the handbrake, my hand brushed against the SE. No, it was not a female SE in case u folks are wondering! Anyway, I still find the gear box rather notchy to my liking. Maybe I am too used to Japanese kind of gear box. The ride and handling is still as good as ever and I really like the reassuring thud when the door is closed. Something my current car is not that impressive. In the review, the article stated that the engine is free revving and quoted Civic VTEC drivers will find it as good since there is no red line. The SE encouraged me to try red-lining which I have every intention to. Indeed the engine feels smooth and did not hesitate until it reached 6500 rpm whereby the rev limiter kicked in. I had fun dragging the first two gears to red line and the SE suddenly stopped giving comments about how good the car is, etc. (Maybe that is one of the techniques one should employ to shut them up) However, after from the third gear onwards, the limitations of the small 1.2 L engine begin to make itself and it would be safe to assume that at highway speeds, overtaking must be planned well in advance. The pros of the car is generally the size and safety features. Really carpark friendly and u feel kindda cosy up in front while the rear is for u to allocate to your not so close buddies and let them feel the disadvantages of being tall. (read: headroom really lacking lah!) It has four airbags and boy am I impressed cuz even in some 2L cars, u only get two airbags. The major downside is the relatively high selling price of $68k. For a 1.2 L, that is rather expensive. Of course, not forgetting the usual maintenance problems which I think is not very fair for me to comment since I do not owned one now or before. I did take a peek into the engine bay and discover a huge radiator fan that I suspect was modified to suit the local climate. disclaimer: This test drive report is based strictly on the person writing and is no way influenced by anyone else. And no commissions for me if u decide to buy the car. Just my two cents worth.
  6. I know this is a weird topic but I really just wanna reach out to people who have this engine so as to share info. Please feel free to comment if you are knowledgeable on this topic. I am starting this topic for the MR16DDT engine, known as the 1.6 DIG-T engine in Nissan cars. It is a turbo charged direct injection 1618cc engine. So far, in local context I only know 3 car models use it. Please share if you know more. - Renault Clio RS (200HP, 240nm?) - Nissan Juke Turbo (187HP, 240nm) - Nissan Sylphy SSS (187HP, 240nm) I am driving a SSS. The Sylphy threads are very inactive and there does not seem to be any fellow SSS drivers around. I am going for 10k servicing soon. Had been using Tan Chong's mineral oil at 1k, 5k servicing and wanna use syn oil for next servicing as engine should have break-in now and starting on 10k intervals next. Tan Chong has their own in-house brand syn oil. I am thinking of bringing my own oil but not sure which type to use. Can anyone share what oil they had used for this engine? Should i get xW30 or xW40 oil? I don't go to the tracks at all.

    Renault Clio RS Cup

Saw the Renault Clio RS. Seems quite good specs except a bit small for the boot as well as the rear leg room. Anyone knows whats the Early bird prices like ?
  8. Love your hot hatches? Then you would probably want to watch the new Renault Clio RS 200 EDC being pushed to the limit by professional driver Denis Lian at the Sepang F1 circuit in Malaysia. He clocked a impressive lap time of 2:48:001 which is five seconds adrift of its bigger brother, the Megane RS250. Even though the lap looks pretty undramatic, its usually the boring laps that provides the best lap times. And of course, Sepang is a wide track so things do look milder than it should. What I did observe though are the gear changes, which look fast enough for a dual-clutch. Wonder why some of the overseas reviewers complain of a slow responding EDC gearbox... Hopefully we will get the car here soon to try it out for ourselves! Meanwhile, enjoy the video... http://dai.ly/x1kx2is_renault-clio-rs-200-edc-track-drive-with-denis-lian-part-1-2-track-version_auto

Renault preparing a new Clio Williams?

The rumour mill has been churning out news of Renault preparing a new Clio Williams. Ever since Renault signed a new contract with the Williams Formula One team to supply them with engines, many hoped that the French automaker would release a new version of the ever popular hot hatch. The original Renault Clio Williams was released in 1993 and it was said that the car was launched to celebrate Nigel Mansell

Dacia Lodgy: The Romanian people carrier

[extract] When Renault took over Dacia in the late 1990s, the Romanian automaker car models look rather drab. Most of their cars had boxy shaped shells, as though the cars were from the 1970s or 1980s. Some would contribute this to the Communists influence in Romania (could

    Clio III RS

Renault Clio RS from AutoZine Today, Renault has announced the new generation Clio RS (Renault Sport). The hot hatch version of Clio family became world famous since the 1993 Clio Williams, which was based on the first generation Clio. It started the idea of "small hatch, big power". In 2000, the RS version of Clio II took this idea to a new level. Thanks to a 172 horsepower 2-litre 16V engine and very lightweight body, it ran neck to neck with Honda Civic Type R, which carried more power but also more weight. In 2004, the engine was upgraded to 182hp. Clio started taking the lead in the European hot hatch market. Now, following the Clio family entered the third generation, the RS is also renewed. First, you must note that like all Clio III, the Clio RS has gained a lot in size and weight. For example, it is 18 cm longer, 13 cm wider, 7 cm taller and runs a 10 cm longer wheelbase, no wonder its kerb weight jumped from 1090 kg to a hefty 1240 kg ! To compensate the weight, Renault Sport fettled its 1998 cc 16V engine. Higher valve lift, smoother intake breathing, a continuous VVT system (instead of the old discreet system) and 11.5:1 compression (instead of 11.0:1) increased its maximum output by 15hp to 197 hp. This is now occurred at 7250 rpm. Max rev is raised by 300 rpm to 7500 rpm, proving the new engine is more eager at the top end. With 197 horsepower, the Clio is now just 3 horsepower short of Honda Civic Type R. This is especially impressive considering it generates far superior torque - 159 lbft at 5550 rpm, with at least 147 lbft from 3000 to 7000 rpm ! this is definitely a new record for a naturally aspirated 2-litre four-pot engine. You know, the old Civic Type R achieved only 139 lbft at 6200 rpm, while the old Clio's 147 lbft was already class leading. It is worth praising that the engine achieves superior power and torque simultaneously. Nevertheless, 15 more horsepower and 12 lbft more torque might be not enough to offset 150 kg, so Renault also upgraded the 5-speed gearbox to 6-speed. Now 0-62 mph is claimed to be reduced by 0.2 second (6.9 versus 7.1 sec), although the previous figure was usually found conservative. Strangely, top speed claim is lowered by 4 mph to 135 mph, probably due to the increased frontal area (wider and taller). The new Clio RS is still sold at a bargain price, so it continues to go without a limited slip differential, unlike Civic Type R. However, to reduce torque steer, Renault adopted a similar approach to the Megane RS - a double-axis front suspension geometry which decouples the steering from the engine induced forces. To compensate for the additional suspension components, some of them (e.g. control arms and pivot carriers) were made of cast aluminum. Besides, the front sub-frame and bushings are strengthened. Both front and rear suspensions got stiffer springs and dampers with new valving, along with thicker anti-roll bars. In addition to wider tracks - 48 mm front and 50 mm rear, wider 215/45 tires, handling should be improved. To due with increased weight, braking system got larger discs and, up front, 4-pot Brembo calipers. Outside, the Clio RS has different air intakes compare with the regular car. In particular, it added a hot air extraction outlet at each side, behind the front wheels. This not only improves engine cooling, but also reduce aerodynamic turbulence. At the tail, a racecar-like diffuser is added under the tail to generate up to 40 kg downforce at high speed. To make space for the diffuser, the twin exhaust pipes are separated and located at either side of the diffuser, while the spare wheel has been deleted. From the factory information, the new Clio III RS seems promising, but its increased size and weight may also take some of its nimble character away. We need to wait for the first report to see whether it match its predecessor for the fun factor. The car will be produced at the ex-Alpine Dieppe plant alongside Megane RS. Renault plans to produce 10,000 units annually.

Clio Voted Car of the Year

It seems to get better for Renault .... Won the F1 (team and individual) recently, and now this. Just wonder if the local distributor can do justice to the positive reactions the brand is getting from Europe. http://www.carpages.co.uk/news/car-of-the-year-14-11-05.asp
  18. Hi everyone, I was at a traffic light junction along Upper Serangoon road. Chatting away happily when I noticed this huge gaping hole along the side of this blue car in my left side mirror. I went quiet momentarily... I know that headlight, its a Clio. Those monsterous fenders and that muscular body was a dead giveaway. It's a Renault Sport Clio V6! I want to stop the car, go over and touch it. I want to record the car roar (believe me, it ROARS). I want to take a photo with the car. A Ferrari or Lambo would never have gotten a second glance from me... I never knew this car was in Singapore. Hope this owner might come across the forum, or someone who knows him might pass a message... Someone here (me) wants to caress his car.
