just last sat morning i was driving a lorry going to kranji loop jtc factory there repair.

at neo tiew really super dangerous, lucky those cyclist still much better then those in the video,

they spread out very far apart

,2-3 together, all cycling single lane, ( they come out from ntu , i think )

i notice a few bikes patroling the route also.

 

but at 1 stretch along neo tiew road i got a very close call.

1 10 wheeled monster lorry suddenly speed very fast from opposite toward me as i was overtaking 1 cyclist .

i was really close to him, heng both of us keep our cool and the monster lorry pass me really close, and i pass the cyclist really close, i see my rear mirror, the cyclist quite zhai.

no experience really cannot cycle there..

infact even sat morning the traffic was quite heavy also. and with all the construction going on at kranji, they still chose to cycle there of all place.

really dun know whats going through their brains..

Ever since the lorry driver and the cyclist incident. I noticed now there are more cyclist cycle not to the extreme left of the lane already. Now they cycle close to the middle of the lane.

 

Don't know is it because they are showing displeasure on that incident.. Its like "this lorry and cyclist incident will not deter us from cycling on the road, in fact we will do it purposely to cycle on the middle of the lane now"

Siao wan la. Cycle at night still wear black. You know taxi unker average age around 50yo, the eyesight already deteriorated. How to spot these ninja cyclists wearing black? Blinking tail light for the bicycle also not installed. I dont think there's one cos when she fell also dont see any.

These cyclist are doctors and they are shocked by their own injuries and in their own words broke down upon hearing her own injury. Almost die somemore. That's what they said.

Prease dont cycle at night wearing black top to bottom, Better dont cycle on the roads. Cycle in the park connectors. Taxi/Grab spend a lot of time driving on the roads. They are mostly fatigued and cannot put 100% concentration on the roads.

She was going straight at the left turn junction, that might be the reasons she was filtering away from the road side. The taxi is wrong but I have to say it again, cyclists are very vulnerable on the road, they have to practice absolute safety measure, including knowing the traffic condition and what might be coming towards them, even from behind. If one is cycling, Please do not assume cars could see you just because you could see a car, the size and brightness of light, speed are completley different between a car and a bike. While most car drivers are careful and considerate, one just need a driver to be distracted or careless , the price to pay for by the cyclist will be huge. Ride safe and enjoy.

Reading about the doctor's injuries, right eye maybe permanent damaged, internal brain injuries, collarbone etc, she may take awhile to mend and luckily she's not the sole breadwinner so financially may not be as bad as most.

 

Taxi aunty was driving quite fast. The cyclist lightly cannot be seen easily. Black attire and lack of blinkers on bicycle really not wise cos it's night riding. Yes, she may have enjoyed safety if she kept on extreme left of the lane.

 

Everything usually much clearer upon hindsight.

 

Both share equal weight. One could have driven slower so impact may not have been that great or could even avoid if braked on time. The cyclist may still be riding later tonight on the same route.

I think it was early hours and the lane on the left is a turning lane. Perhaps next time the cycling behavior would change to being more risk-averse and careful of the unknown of the other drivers after this video

I don’t understand how a season rider not know about colour scheme for night riding. Seriously dark helmet and dark jersey? Strobe lights not going to be enough. I even have extra light at the back of my white helmet and white bike to go with lime green or white top.

I have even seen absolute acts of stupidity on Tanah Merah Coast Rd where there is a designated cycling lane marked out in red.

 

Cyclists, especially the Caucasians, must cycle on the left lane next to the  cycling lane, and wait till you see those tipper trucks overtake them at such heart popping close range.

 

A FATAL accident WILL happen – just a ticking time bomb.

I very kiasi and always check 3-4 times before I go straight at filter lane yet keep to the left side of the lane marking.
