  1. I have never seen such an honest used car ad before on sgcarmart. The owner must have been damn pissed off to post this to shame Toyota or Borneo Motors, rather than to sell his 2 months old Corolla https://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=878381&DL=1000&GASRC=dy"
  2. one month can take back 6k to 8k for car sales. not bad. the toyota brand alrdy sells for itself SINGAPORE - In what may be another sign that the motor trade is bracing for a tailspin, Toyota agent Borneo Motors is planning to cut commissions paid to its sales staff - the first time it is doing so. According to sales executives who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Inchcape company is proposing to cut commissions by $100 to $350 per car. At the same time, it is looking to raise sales targets. "Easily, our monthly income will fall by $2,000," said one salesman, noting that sales staff's income averaged between $6,000 and $8,000 a month. Another said the cut was supposed to have been taken effect last month, but "it did not". The Straits Times understands this is because of the union, which has asked the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to intervene. An MOM spokesman said the ministry has "received a request from the Singapore Manual & Mercantile Workers' Union to conciliate a dispute involving its sales consultant members and Borneo Motors (Singapore) Pte Ltd over a proposed cut in commission and an increase in sales quota". "The conciliation process is ongoing," the spokesman added. "Both union and Borneo Motors' management are engaging actively in the conciliation process. Progress has been made on some issues but more work needs to be done on remaining issues where parties' positions differ." Borneo Motors' managing director Jasmmine Wong said: "We are in the midst of discussions which we have every two years. We have up to the end of the year to reach a conclusion. Nothing has been decided." Ms Wong - part of a new management team which replaced several veterans laid off two years ago - pointed out that the sales staff wanted "higher commissions and lower targets". She said this was not feasible in a market which is expected to shrink over the next two years on account of smaller certificate of entitlement quotas. On Monday (May 6), Nissan agent Tan Chong Motor decided to close its Bukit Timah showroom because of a shrinking number of walk-in customers. "My priority is to keep jobs," Ms Wong said. She added that the company had also put in a system which generates leads for its sales staff, as well as a car delivery division to relieve sales staff from non-sales duties. But a sales veteran said: "If the company is losing money, then we understand. But that is not the situation, and in any case, it is unfair to target sales staff alone." Borneo remains one of UK-listed Inchcape's top profit generators. Last year, it attained Toyota's Triple Crown award for industry-leading sales in passenger vehicle, commercial vehicle and taxi sales. According to two previous managing directors, Borneo has not had a sales commission cut before.
  3. Indonesia picks area on Borneo island as site of new capital: Widodo Read more at https://www.todayonline.com/world/indonesia-picks-area-borneo-island-site-new-capital-widodo Indonesian President Joko Widodo said moving Indonesia's capital from Jakarta would cost 466 trillion rupiah (S$45.49 billion). JAKARTA — Indonesia plans to move its capital to Borneo island from Jakarta, a crowded, polluted city on the north coast of Java island which is slowly sinking, the president said on Monday (Aug 26). President Joko Widodo said it was urgent that relocation plans commence, although the capital would not physically begin to be relocated until 2024 The new capital, which does not yet have a name, would be located in Borneo's East Kalimantan province, near the existing Samarinda City and the port city of Balikpapan, important for coal and oil shipments. "It is a strategic location at the centre of Indonesia, close to growing urban area," Mr Widodo told a news conference at the Jakarta state palace. Mr Widodo said moving the capital would cost 466 trillion rupiah (S$45 billion), of which the state would fund 19 per cent, with the rest from public-private partnerships and private investment. The price tag includes new government offices and homes for about 1.5 million civil servants. The president had earlier this month proposed to parliament to move the country's administrative centre to Kalimantan, the Indonesian side of Borneo island, a region known for rainforests, coal mines, orangutans and home to just over 16 million people. Environmentalist groups, however, have expressed fears that building a new capital amid swaths of forests in Borneo could imperil the habitats of endangered wildlife. The jungle island is home to numerous endangered species, including orangutans, sun bears and long-nosed monkeys. Jakarta is one of the world's most densely populated cities, home to more than 10 million people and three times that number when counting those who live in surrounding towns. The city is prone to floods and is sinking due to subsidence, caused by millions of residents using up groundwater. Mr Widodo said the burden on Jakarta and Java island was already too heavy, with the island home to 54 per cent of the 260 million population and generating 58 per cent of Indonesia's gross domestic product. The government will submit a bill, and the result of a feasibility study, to parliament soon to obtain approval for the new capital, Mr Widodo said. Planning Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro said land acquisition would start in 2020. Indonesia is not the first South-east Asian country to move its capital. In 2005, Myanmar's ruling generals moved to Naypyidaw, a town in hills some 320km away from the colonial era capital, Yangon. In the 1990s, Malaysian leader Mahathir Mohamad built an administrative capital in Putrajaya, about 33km from Kuala Lumpur. 4. The Motor Traders Association could soon be the Minor Traders Association if the number of members keeps falling. The Motor Traders Association of Singapore (MTA) is a grouping of new car distributors and some commercial vehicle dealers. Its membership has been sliding over the years and the latest to leave its fold is Borneo Motors Singapore (BMS) - the distributor of Toyota, Lexus and Hino - leaving it with 26 members. With BMS's exit at the end of this month, Singapore's top three brands - Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Toyota, in that order - will not be part of the MTA. Critics now question how MTA can continue to be relevant. "MTA is supposed to be the voice of new car sellers. What is the point if it does not represent the majority of the industry," asked the director of a brand who left MTA a few years ago. Based on last year's total vehicle sales of 34,090 units, MTA members accounted for 46 per cent of total market share (this number is made up of 22,472 new cars, 8,128 commercial vehicles and 3,490 taxis). If BMS sales are excluded, this proportion drops to 32 per cent, or barely a third of the market. Volkswagen will then be the biggest brand left in MTA. Last year, VW was Singapore's No 4 make. BMS declined to comment when contacted. But there is speculation that its departure is largely symbolic, one that signals its displeasure with the association. "The annual membership fee is only $1,500, so it's definitely not about the money," said the head of a luxury dealership. "It is probably to make it clear that they do not see the value of MTA membership." In recent months, some complaints about the MTA included how it appears to champion the causes of only its committee members, and the inability to present members' views and appeals to the government, especially after the recent radical changes to the motor trade, such as the loan curbs and certificate of entitlement tweaks. The luxury dealership head recalled that when the vehicle financing restrictions were introduced last year in February, the Singapore Vehicles Traders Association, or SVTA, whose members are mainly used car dealers, immediately met to craft an appeal to the government. The result was the lifting of loan curbs for 60 days to allow members to clear their stocks of second-hand vehicles. But, according to the luxury dealership head, the MTA was reluctant to intercede when approached by some members for help to lobby the government to soften the impact of the loan curbs. Senior MTA committee members could not be contacted for their views. But one industry veteran defended the MTA. "To be fair, it does not have an easy time," he said, explaining that this is because MTA members have conflicting interests. "It is difficult to function as a cohesive organisation because not every brand is impacted by the same issues, such as engine output or emissions," he added. "So there is no unified voice, unlike used car dealers who do not have brand loyalty and can talk about common problems such as policy and financing as a group." 5. Hi guys, I'm planning to share a carton of RP with my friend, does BM allow toyota owners to bring their own oil? Tks :)
  6. Borneo Motors Singapore plans to redevelop its Pandan Crescent property into an eight-storey complex housing various motor businesses. Borneo Motors Singapore (BMS) has revealed plans to redevelop its Pandan Crescent property into an eight-storey complex. The new project will be used to house its various motor vehicle businesses. Experts in the field estimated the project to cost around $40 million. BMS is the distributor for automotive brands such as Toyota, Lexus, Suzuki and Hino. It is part of Inchcape Group of the United Kingdom and has its flagship complex located at 33 Leng Kee Road - where it houses Toyota and Lexus showrooms. The Pandan Crescent property is currently used to house the showroom for Suzuki cars, as well as the company's bodywork and paintshop facilities. The Business Times reported that the new project will start by this mid-year. Meanwhile, retail business for Suzuki will be shifted to a ground floor unit at Ubi Megamart from May.
  7. Anyone send in their accident vehicle to Borneo motors for repair? Can I noe wats the procedures like? Will we be able to get a courtesy car while being repaired? For claiming purpose, bm will settle rite? Thx..
  8. 04:46 AM Mar 22, 2011 SINGAPORE - A man was sentenced yesterday to three months and two weeks in jail for threatening to tarnish Borneo Motors' reputation if he were not given S$100,000. Khoo Yee Tien, 26, had contacted at least three Borneo Motors customers last October and claimed that the automobile company deliberately caused mechanical problems to their cars after they sent them in for repairs at its service centre. Khoo admitted that he had sent out the text messages to its customers when a service manager at Borneo Motors, Mr Mah Yoke Yu, 42, contacted him about the matter. Khoo threatened to send out more damaging messages if his demands for money were not met. He instructed Mr Mah to deposit an envelope with the cash in it into a dustbin at a car park beside Tanjong Katong Complex on Dec 9. Mr Mah did as he was told and Khoo was arrested at around 11pm that day as he was about to retrieve the envelope. http://www.todayonline.com/singapore/EDC11...tors-reputation
  9. 1. Booked my car in Jan 2010 during Borneo Motor CNY sale under the classic non gaurantee COE package 2. Price was heavily discounted by $6K as part of the CNY special 3. At the point of booking, I was told by the SE, the promotion has been very successful and all the cars were sold out. New shipment will take 3 months to arrive, I accepted it. 4. At the point of booking, Was advised by SE don't need to waste $1000 more on gauranteed COE package. Borneo has never fail to secure COE 5. Since Jan to Mar there have been 6 biddings, 2 biddings per month, Borneo Motors have NEVER attempt to submit a bid for any of the past 5 bidding exercises 6. Each time I call the SE to question them, why they didn't bid for me, the reason was Borneo is a large player and they must try to space out the COE bidding according to car shipment schedule otherwise COE will shoot up sky high. This is a strategy. SE said Borneo won't bid so early because my car is not here yet. 7. Subsequently SE said Borneo has the right to decide when to bid, whether to bid, what price to bid as per contract 8. They took my deposit and then did nothing to secure the COE for the past 5 biddings 9. Today 24 Mar, they put in a bid at $26K and was out bid. They did not make revision to the bid. 10. Prices have already gone up since the point of purchase in Jan 11. Past 5 biddings, COE was at around $20K they choose not to bid and waited until the final last bidding then s--t hit the fan. 12. What can I do? Complaint to CASE, which is probably useless anyway? My point is, had I not booked a car with them, I could have bought another car in Jan/Feb when prices were still lower compared to the present price. However they took my deposit, locked me into a 3mths or 6 bids contract and sat on it, I now ended up without a car and have to pay a higher price to purchase another car because prices have since moved upward SE said I'm not the only one. They've many customers in the same boat. Anyone out there in the same situation?
  10. Hi all, I started this thread because I realize that there are many people who have been affected by the Borneo CNY Fiasco....for those who do not know what I am talking about this thread is not for you! Please stop abusing the Borneo Motors SEs....the real idiots behind this mess are those hiding behind them.... I urge you to direct your anger at them instead.... [email protected] I am directing these questions to Borneo Motor MD, Mr. Koh Chin Hong: 1. How many CNY Promotion Orders did Borneo Motors take in? Was it sincere in wanting to fulfill them? 2. Of this number how many had to TOP UP? 3. How many got their cars eventually? 4. Why didn't Borneo bid earlier when COEs were lower? COEs can be kept 6 months...no need to wait till vehicle has arrived..... I urge all who were affected to continue voicing their disatisfaction with Borneo...DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY SCOT FREE? Otherwise next time even the other dealers will follow their example...and buying car becomes like buying lottery.... Andrew
  11. Business Times - 02 Mar 2010 Toyota to announce March incentives in US DETROIT - Toyota Motor Corp will roll out an aggressive incentive programme for US consumers in March, including zero-percent financing for five years and a two-year free maintenance plan, a source briefed on the matter said on Monday. The new incentives, which will start Tuesday and run through March, come as the world's biggest automaker attempts to connect with US consumers after a storm of safety recalls that have damaged its reputation and cut into sales. Toyota will offer zero-per cent financing for 60 months on some 2010 model year vehicles, including its most popular Camry and Corolla sedans and other vehicles involved in the recalls that involved sticky accelerator pedals, the source told Reuters. Returning Toyota customers will also receive a complimentary two-year 'Toyota Auto Care Premium Package' that includes oil changes and other maintenance services, in addition to cash rebates, the source said. The person declined to be identified because the information has yet to be announced by Toyota. A Toyota spokeswoman said the company planned to announce a new incentive program when it releases its US sales figures for February on Tuesday. She declined to comment on the specifics. -- REUTERS Copyright
  12. Booked the most reliable Toyota a few months back. Borneo did not bid for my COE For the past 5 bidding exercise. Only 1 bidding left next week. Looks like they're not desperate to clear their stock? How come!!! I thought they'll be really desperate now but apparently not.

  14. Saw from today's straits times that BM will be bringing in Toyota Alphard MPV this year. They will also be launching the new Wish in the 3rd quarter
  15. I think for me, I'd still go for a Japan (JDM) Wish, in spite of it being PI. There are so many on SG roads already, so after sales spare parts will not be an issue. A Tomyam Wish? ..... eerrr I beg to differ, but no thanks.
  16. Ok, here you go...Corolla launch pix at the link below..i prefer this one's look to the Axio, but build quality..can't really say the same :S http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/article.php?AID=1029
  17. Read in papers today BM is confirmed bringing in Wish by year end. Any idea is it the same current model or are we expecting a facelift model?
  18. Saw from the straits times today that borneo motors is finally bringing in the wish after PIs had been doing so for 4 years... So will the PIs business be affected?
  19. As ridiculous as it sounds, it's true. Got the IS250 recently. After the 1000km servicing, the gear lever suddenly felt very stiff when sliding along the slot. So I brought it back to Borneo Motors a few days later. The mechanic immediately spotted that the gear knob wasn't the original IS250 one. It was of the wrong size, hence the stiffness in shifting. In fact, he initially implied that I bought an aftermarket knob and fixed it. I protested. It had been swopped during the 1000km servicing!!!!!! Screw the thief. Comparing the fake knob with the original on another IS250 parked there, I'm positive that I had the real thing up to the servicing. Anyway, they said they'll order a new one from Japan but it'll take quite a few weeks. They even said they'll review the workshop camera footage and conduct an internal investigation. How could Borneo Motors let something like that happen? I'm furious.
  20. Borneo aims to sell over 4,500 Vios this year By C Y Chew - April 4, 2007 The Business Times It looks like a mini-Corolla Altis and there is now an additional variant in the range, so it's not surprising to hear that 400 of the all-new Toyota Vios models have been sold since authorised distributor Borneo Motors started taking orders in early March. The second-generation Vios was officially launched here last Friday with three different grades - a new entry-level J grade, plus E and G. All cars will be equipped with ABS and at least one airbag. The new Vios is also larger in all aspects than its predecessor and its 50mm longer wheelbase provides increased cabin space and a flat rear floor. As a result, Borneo Motors hopes the new Vios will expand its already impressive customer base. Over 6,500 units were sold last year and half of the new orders collected so far have been from people who have previously bought a Vios. The Vios is the spiritual successor of the Toyota Soluna, the first Thai-made car to be sold in Singapore. More than 445,000 units have been sold worldwide since it was launched in 2002. Since then, Toyota vehicles made in Thailand have steadily gained acceptance among Singaporeans, and according to Toyota's assistant chief engineer Yasuharu Akigawa, quality is first-rate. 'Perhaps five to 10 years ago, Thailand might not have had the same assembly technology, but today the quality of Thai-made automobiles is definitely on a par with Japanese-made vehicles,' he says. All the Thai-made cars for Asean markets are still developed in Japan before being 'localised' at Toyota Technological Centre Asia-Pacific. 'The Vios was designed from the start as a stand-alone vehicle,' Mr Akigawa says, through his translator. 'Yes, it shares a similar platform with the Toyota Yaris but it was developed as an independent vehicle from day one and not adapted from the Yaris platform.' He says it is Toyota's aim that all models destined for Asean will eventually be manufactured in Thailand and that while there are no plans to export these vehicles back to Japan, cars like the Vios are already being sold in territories like Australia and the Middle East. Pricing for the Toyota Vios starts at $49,000 and Borneo Motors hopes to sell over 4,500 cars in the rest of this year. Last year, the Toyota Vios was Singapore's fourth best-selling car - behind the Mitsubishi Lancer, Nissan Sunny and the best-seller Toyota Corolla Altis. Except for 2006, the Vios had always been the third most popular model in Singapore since it was introduced here in January 2003. When asked why the model was being replaced after only a relatively short time, Mr Akigawa says: 'A five-year shelf life is normal.'
  21. Motoring Published January 17, 2007 Borneo Motors gets new sales, marketing heads Email this article Print article ? Feedback A MANAGEMENT reshuffle at Borneo Motors Singapore has resulted in a change in the executives in charge of the Toyota and Lexus brands, whose roles have been refined. Experienced: Mr Yeo (above) was previously GM-director of Champion Motors, distributors of Suzuki, and Mr Choo was Borneo's special assistant to CEO, directorate Gavin Yeo has been appointed director of sales and marketing for Toyota and Hino, while William Choo has become director of sales and marketing for Lexus. Mr Yeo was previously GM-director of Champion Motors, which distributes Suzuki. Borneo and Champion are part of the Inchcape group of companies. Mr Choo was previously Borneo's special assistant to CEO, directorate. The two men replace former director of marketing Peh Hock Chuan and director of sales William Low. Mr Peh and Mr Low submitted their resignations some time ago and will leave the company at the end of January. Both of them are headed overseas for jobs that will be motor industry-related. Mr Low said he was head-hunted by an automotive company and will be involved in business development. He will be flying to Shanghai in late February after clearing his leave. 'Now is the best time to go to China,' he explained. 'China has a lot of opportunities and it will be good for my long-term career advancement.' Borneo will not have any transition worries because there is a 'good succession plan', he said. 'And if I don't leave, there will not be opportunities for the second liners,' he added with a laugh. Asked whether Toyota's falling market share was related to his impending departure, he said it was only a rumour. 'People always have different kinds of stories. We have been number one for five years in a row,' he said, referring to Toyota's top ranking since 2002, when it overtook Nissan to become Singapore's most popular brand. 'Our top priority is to be number one. If we can gain market share that will be good. But despite an ageing model line-up, we have still been able to retain the number one position. I think that is acceptable.' Borneo's managing director Mark Choong said Mr Low and Mr Peh were 'not pushed out'. 'They left of their accord. With their departure, we have revamped the organisation and given new opportunities to our younger managers,' Mr Choong said. 'Even though I've lost two senior managers, their replacements are experienced.' Mr Choo has been with Borneo for more than 10 years, while Mr Yeo was responsible for building up the Suzuki brand. 'In every change comes new opportunity,' Mr Choong said. Some in the motor industry have speculated that surging parallel import (PI) sales and an eroding market share are behind the management reshuffle. One particular success for the PI trade is the Wish compact MPV, which is not offered by Borneo and which chalked up 6,628 units last year to become Singapore's top MPV model by a huge margin. 'If you look at Borneo's model range, it is not new. If the car is new like the Toyota Camry, it is expensive when compared to a Japanese-made Camry brought in by a PI,' said a competitor, referring to Borneo's Thai-made Camry. The company's Corolla Altis, Vios and Yaris are also sourced from Toyota Thailand. Mr Yeo's track record in boosting Suzuki Swift sales should mean a rejuvenation of Toyota sales, the competitor said. 'Champion's high-spec Swift is better value than the PIs' and the company's marketing is also more appealing because it is geared towards lifestyle and image.'
  22. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/toyota.php Only Altis 1.8A is avail. Altis 1.6A is discontinued. Wonder how are they going to compete agsinst cars in the full sized saloon category - eg, Latio, Sunny, Lancer etc. Is the new Corolla Axio going to be launched soon? Borneo Mtrs may be afraid the Parallel Importers are taking away their share of the mkt by selling the new Toyota Axio before them. Vios is too small to be against the above makes - more in compact category
  23. Any Borneo Sales Here.. or can recommend me one Most likely confirm getting Altis with car trade in with in house loan.. Would like accessories and discount Do pm me the details. Serious Buyer Thanks and nice day to all.
